The location is excellent and the room very comfortable.
Helpfulness of staff - especially the reception manager. Reasonable prices compared with other similar hotels in Harrogate. Comfortable bed.
Cleaner trying to gain access (politely) before we were ready to vacate. Light leaking between curtains waking us early. No porridge for breakfast.
We liked its location .
The Hotel looks tired and in need of a make over.
Great location for shop, bars, restaurants etc.
Room a bit tired and in need of re-decoration could also have been cleaner and warmer
Proximity to shops
Hotel was quite dated
Lovely stay in a grand old lady of a hotel.
The staff were very friendly
Started off struggling to park then once I got to the room wish I hadn't!. Dark, dismal, dirty and the smallest bed I've ever had. I paid the exact same rate for a hotel in Lytham St. Annes the night before and was truly impressed. I was so disappointed once I booked into this hotel.
Good central location.
Reception staff needed additional training, unable to locate our booking or know which rooms in the hotel were feature rooms. We could hear other guests in there rooms and creaky floor boards all night. Room was very cold when we arrived and had a small wall heater to heat it.
Reception staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and professional. Bathroom was a good size. Breakfast was good, but the selection available was small.
Our room appeared quite tired looking, worn furniture and a very thin mattress. Although the bathroom was large the room itself was rather small. The corridors are very shabby and the carpets need replacing on floor 2. For a beautiful hotel with great first impressions, the interior really is disappointing.
Car park out front View over gardens
friendliness of staff, good breakfast, reasonable price of drinks and food at night in the hotel, bar meals were good standard. location excellent.
Bed was a little uncomfortable, room could have done with air conditioning, very hot at night. Décor a bit dated and scuffed in places. No shelf in bathroom to put toiletries etc, caused a few problems.
The staff were all helpful and friendly
the decoration of the room was tired and the poor quality of bed
loction was great parking good rooms clean.
the mattress on the beds was awful I heard many other guest saying how bad there was it would have been comfortable sleeping on the floor as im 6 and half month pregnant this was not a good idea also breakfast the sausages was horrible for £20 extra wish I hadnt bothered I thought it be more luxury not cheap and cheerful there did better breakfast down road for £2.99 thanks.
STAFF SO HELPFUL SETTING SO CENTRAL PRICE SO FAIR ACCESSIBILITY TO ALL PARTS OF TOWN
DATED FURNISHINGS ONLY BUT I KNOW THAT'S PERSONAL TASTE ISSUES
Location of hotel is good
Outside room smelt of damp..hotel very worn out..ie chairs and decor.
The location was great as it's across the road from Betty's tea room and a short walk to the shops and restaurants.
The lift up to the room was claustrophobic to say the least. My partner and I are slim, but I am 6 months pregnant and we were joking that were I any bigger we wouldn't fit it. It can't be a comfortable ride for a family of 3 or 4. Once we got to the room from previous reviews I knew many had said that the decor was dated, so I can only agree and everything can do with a lick of paint and replacing with more contemporary pieces. We found that the kettle was unplugged and couldn't use it where it was unless we unplugged the TV which we were using, so we put it on the floor and unplugged the trouser press. I had a shower before bed and spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to turn it off as it was really stiff and fully turning it off gave me a pain in my chest it was so stiff. I had requested a quiet room, which it did seem to be until about 10pm when the restaurants put their bins out, the odd person leaving the pubs was yelling to their friend and then about 7am the next morning I got woken up by the refuse collection. Other than that I slept well. Breakfast wasn't included, but when we checked in we were asked if we wanted to pay for continental at £5 each or £10 for full breakfast. We opted for the £10, but thought it was a bit steep. Once we'd experienced the breakfast where as a vegetarian I had beans, eggs, tomatoes and toast I felt that £10 was much too much for the options on offer.
great location, parking on site and staff very helpfull
asked for a quiet room and it was noisey outside due to the outside air con units , single room was small and the bed was old and a spring sticking up on the matress
Position in Harrogate, great staff
Poor breakfast, needs a facelift, overpriced
Very good location the bar was competitive but not over priced.
Parking is very difficult and may not suit an older couple as we had to park about 10mins walk away as the car park was full. The hotel and rooms are a bit dated and could do with an upgrade but they are very clean.
The young guy doing the breakfast seating arrangements had terrible breath. Only had breakfast there once as he put me off. The mattress was rock solid (old and creaky) and terrible to sleep on. I slept on top of the doubled up duvet with a towel over me. I'm glad it was a warm time of year. Bedroom was very dim with no main light. I also found an old pair of women's knickers behind the chair. Wasn't even hard to spot. They were just lying there. They weren't hidden away so the cleaner obviously missed them in such a dark room. Overall poor
lovely building and location
rooms are awful , very dated furniture and badly marked ,woodwork all chipped and damaged, carpets stained , wardrobe door was hanging off and the draw which had been screwed on wonky , massive cracks in the sink , rust stains on bath handles , lamp had bad stains on it , windows were filthy and only opened a few inches and in this heat was not nice and not worth anything near the £120.00 a night there charging .
I inadvertently left some items in the drawers of the hotel room when I left and these were returned to me within two days.
