Standard stuff, no problems. Nice, clean room for the price. The booking form stated that breakfast was included which was a key point if choosing the hotel. There were many others available at the same price with no breakfast.. However, it was not made clear that this was only a contintental breakfast and we had to pay £10 for the full scottish. I did mention this on checking out but it was obvious I had to pay.

I enjoyed staying at the hotel, however if I had booked directly with them, it would have been cheaper than booking with booking.com. My advice to anyone wanting to stay here is to email them directly and you will get a better price!!! I enjoyed my stay for 9 nights. Easy walk to the Castle and such as well as to the train stations. Very lose to Haymarket. The Staff is wonderful and very helpful! You need to get up early for breakfast. No offering to take food or your breakfast to your room.

We found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. We like to walk. We found Edinburgh Castle, the sights along the Royal Mile, The Museum of Scotland, restaurants, pubs and shopping were 20-30 minutes walk from The Thistle. The hotel was comfortable and quiet.

Very good hotel location in the New Town, excellent spot to explore Old Town and Royal Mile - in the city center quiet street just about 5 min to Princess, very close to the natural waterway Dean and Water of Leith, near Airlink 100 and other Lothian bus stop. Our room n29 has a fine view of the Edin Castle. Ordinary continental breakfast.

Good location Rooms basic but clean. Furniture is dated and the ensuite needed upgrading . It is more akin to a b&b than a hotel.

I loved the size of the hotel, small 11 rooms, being family owned and run it was very friendly. Annick and her staff made us feel very welcome. The hotel is very handy for walking to Princes St and into the city centre and to any bus route. The hotel has a lovely bar downstairs which was very inviting when we'd had a long day site-seeing! Our 2 daughters loved the hotel aswell. Breakfast was very nice, staff were very efficient, rooms were clean and very good size. I would give this hotel 10 out of 10 and recommend it to anyone looking for a small, friendly, family run hotel. There was nothing that we didn't like about this hotel.

The building is fantastic, an old house transformed into a nice hotel. The members of the staff were incredibly friendly. The only disadvantage is the internet, there is no free wifi in the room.

I Like the location and the fact it was walking distance to the City centre and we didn't have to use the car during the stay. Staff were helpful and friendly without being in your face all the time. I would definately return for another stay in the future

The room was basic and slightly dated. The bed was positioned awkwardly towards the window, which made it difficult to get around. However, the room was very clean and the bed was comfy. The location was quiet. Breakfast was continental, with cooked breakfast at a hefty supplement. The hotel was consistently busy during our stay. It is well situated for the city centre and bars and restaurants. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are badly in need of an update. I do not feel the published photos are a true reflection of the standard of accommodation Tired furnishings in the bedrooms

The staff were unbelievably friendly, great views from the bedrooms, comfy bed. Tiny bathroom, lots of stairs (and no lift) would definitely cause some trouble for the elderly. No mini-bar in bedroom!

My friend and I were so pleased with our stay at this hotel...We had booked two twin beds, and they upgraded us to two queens. Our room was quite large, and so pretty...I Would stay here again if I return to Edinburgh...A Good location, in which we could walk to everything.

Rooms very comfortable with everything that you could need. Reception staff charming and very helpful. We were a little disappointed with the breakfast, having read previous reviews, we were expecting more. Fresher croissants, bread and muffins would have been much appreciated. Didn't like the very limited choice of very basic cheap jams. For the price of the hotel we had expected a finer choice of better quality ingredients and maybe something Scottish!

All that was claimed in the description was there and available. The reception staff were good fun as well as being helpful, courteous and efficient. The car parking was a big asset. We much enjoyed our stay and would return if we had the good fortune to be in Edinburgh again.

Very friendly and accommodating. Good size room which was clean and quiet. Just to nit pick! We thought it was a shame that the fruit juice at breakfast wasn't fresh! (Was it made from a powder?)
