The Thistle Aberdeen Altens is 3 miles from the city center and just 1 mile from the coast. The Altens has modern rooms with en suite bathrooms and boasts a sauna, spa and indoor pool. Each room has a satellite TV, hairdryer and work desk. Wireless internet is available throughout the hotel and the Altens also provides free parking. Many fitness facilities are available at the on-site Otium Health & Leisure club. There is also a gym, steam room and a range of beauty treatments on offer. The restaurant serves traditional home-cooked favorites and modern European dishes. The Cairngorm Bar is more casual and serves drinks, snacks and light meals. Everything at the hotel was beautiful, the room, the pool, the food was lovely, excellent choice of breakfast. Had no complaint about the hotel whatsoever. I have never stayed in such a top class hotel before, we got this deal saving 70% off the actual price or we would never have afforded to stay and when we arrived they upgraded us to an executive suite. Best hotel ever, would definetley recommend this place over and over again, 1st class!!!!

It was very luxurious, normally way out of our price league, but we found a deal, where they offered our room for 76% off, so we jumped at it. I especially loved that it had a pool (inc. Hot tub, sauna and steam room) and a gym which was free of charge for hotel guests. We're used to hostels, so any hotel is normally considered a luxury for us, but this one was really quite an upscale one. It's location. We had to take either the bus (which stops running to Altens quite early) or a taxi into town, which became costly.

I loved the reception area - beautiful and comfortable. One of the recetionists - a male - couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was not the most professional but was certainly the friendliest. Just a bit far out of the city.

The staff where very freindly and the hotel is presented to a high standard. Even the cleaners around the hotel where very freindly and pleasant. If im on business in the area again I would stay again and also recommend to other people.

Our room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Great standards. Otium leisure changing room showers pool surrounds certain areas of the floor tiles and the bubble pool edges made me squirm they are filthy! Rusty hand rails and drain covers! Is this really the high standard that is met in the hotel and its 4 star rating? If it is I would not be willing to pay these premium prices again for a very sub standard level of cleanliness! The pool is one of the main reasons we chose your hotel in the first place on our once a year trip as a couple not a family group!!!

The room only have one set of towels for the two of us, the double bed was two singles zipped together, quite uncomfortable. Breakfast only offers semi skimmed milk. One Female waiter was quite surly at breakfast .

The staff were all very friendly and professional from when we checked in until we checked out again. The restaurant staff were extemely efficient and helpful when we were deciding on our meal. We would most certainly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

I only spent one night in the hotel and did not use the restaurant but I was most impressed with all the facilities and I will return - perhaps on business the next time. My partner ate in the bar and she thought the prices on the menu were rather high, for what was on offer.

The quiet location excellent price clean and stylish bedrooms - whisky menu! No breakfast incl in price, staff on arrival didn't seem warm and friendly though staff on leaving were.

Very easy to find and easy to reach from the motorway. Plenty of parking spaces. Only a short drive from Aberdeen town centre. Interior was lovely, restaurant and breakfast areas pristine. Enjoyed everything and would certainly book again.

Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful reception area. Lovely bistro/bar and restaurant with excellent choice of menu. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and imaginatively presented. Rooms were comfortable and very spacious and well equipped. Lifts were enourmous compared to other hotels where they can be tiny. I would definitely recommend to others and would definitely stay again. When I phoned to make a reservation I was put through to a central reservations dept but would rather have made arrangement with a member of staff at the hotel itself. I, therefore, made the booking through Booking.com

I picked this hotel rather than the city center as it was better access for us travelling from the south, and that it was close to my relatives who live by the deeside. The hotel was very welcoming on entering, the reception staff very friendly and helpful. The room we had was of excellent standard and the cleanleness was faultless. We did not use the pool or gym but did take a look and both looked great with good facility'S.Overall we felt that we had made a good choice staying at this hotel and would be more than happy to stay again in the future, also we would have no worry's about recommending the Thistle at Alten's to anyone. Our stay was very enjoyable thank you to all the staff.

Lovely clean room and enjoyed the pool etc. Bar very expensive and on new years day swimming pool closed too early, would have liked to have used it as not a lot to do on new years day, were told it closed at four when it actually closed at 2pm.
