The staff, they could not have been friendlier and more helpful. The grounds were lovely. The breakfast choice was excellent. Even though there was a wedding when we stayed there it was quiet. We did not hear a peep.
The bathroom was a bit tired. It is a bit near the motorway so when we were on the grounds we could hear the traffic, but it wasn't that bad.
Easy access to the hotel. Splendid surroundings and excellent rooms. Cuisine is good but needs alternative plain dishes.
Lack of subtitles on LG TV (not recommendable) in my room for me as a HOH client - no access to news and sports. Can't sleep under hot quilt as I am allergic to down feathers!
Staff friendly and attentive, food very good, well appointed throughout.
The setting is beautiful, staff in the main pleasant and the room was clean and spacious. We would go back if there was a special offer as it is a nice hotel, very peaceful and great for a weekend break.
Check in on arrival was a bit of a shambles. We were a little early (2.40) and were just told we couldn't check in until 3pm. When we did check in the details on my booking card were incorrect - apart from my name everything else was wrong including my husbands name, our address, phone number and car registration number. We booked for dinner and while the setting was lovely the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. It wasn't quite hot enough and lacked a little flavour. Breakfast was also disappointing as the hot food was left out as a buffet rather than cooked to order as stated online.
Welcome, room, food and all round bonhomie of staff.
Slight intrusion of road noise and total lack of leisure facilities, even down to a stroll (without being attacked by bees!).
Friendliness and efficiency of the staff.
The welcome from reception staff was superb. So friendly and helpful.
The hotel would benefit from a spa. Just a small pool and jacazzi would be nice.
Very attentive staff. Good facilities.
Couldn't have afternoon tea as they were fully booked which seemed odd as there were many empty tables. But they did serve a put off tea and some alternative cake.
Location. Comfortable beds. Fluffy towels.
Breakfast was mediocre. Dinner was OK but we were nourished rather than well fed. The staff could do with being reminded to smile at the guests if they catch their eye. Too many blank faces for my liking.
The hotel did not cater for toddlers. It would be nice to have seena small play area for them. It would be nice to have a spa on the premesis.
All the staff were very good especially at reception, very helpful especially as we were unable to get a table in the restaurant, reception quickly found us a great alternative.location of the hotel and the room was very good
Paying £5 for a small bottle of water.
Amazing traditional surroundings and service. .
quiet location, nice room
Nice big clean rooms and excellent staff
Cost slightly higher than I usually pay
Room was very clean and comfortable
Stayed at the hotel for a wedding. A large glass of wine was over £10. Breakfast was served to the wedding party in a different room to other hotel guests. Waiter was unhappy serving us, food was luke warm and not served fresh and hot to the table as website advertised. Full breakfast menu not offered. Overall a very unhappy experience. I would not recommend this hotel for weddings. They overcharge on drinks, treat you differently to other gyests and still charge full price on the room.
Room was immaculate and very comfortable. Staff all very friendly. Wonderful stay and will definitely be back !
The beds were extremely comfortable; I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. The rooms were very well equipped, with a hair dryer, a kettle, an iron and an ironing board. There was even a DVD player, and plenty of DVDs to borrow. There was a great choice of cooked dishes for breakfast as well as a wide variety of cereals, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, cheese, yoghourts ... and something I hadn't seen for a while - a real honeycomb. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, even managing to find us a tie at short notice. The gardens were beautiful, and we enjoyed being followed by the guinea fowl.
There's nothing I didn't like - everything was perfect!
Very helpful staff, made us feel welcome, which was much appreciated after our flight from Australia, had a lovely stay here, beautiful location, comfortable bed and room.
Only minor problem was room service on first night , we ordered pizza and it was cold.
Excellent service, good bar food and also breakfast.
No air con and limited a la carte menu in restuarant
The night staff bar man (can't remember his name, but he was Welsh) Excellent, attentive, polite. Staff your establishment with folk like him and you will not go far wrong
Breakfast. The food served was good, but they did not get the full English right on either day. On Saturday we had to ask for the mushrooms, on the Sunday it was other items missing. Just a little irk, but it is little things like that which stick in the memory
We didn't ask for this but because the bar meal was delayed we were not charged for it at check out. A nice touch!
Very friendly staff who were sorry that we had not been informed that there was a wedding on that evening. They moved us to a quiet room, nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful comfy bed, large bath. Super breakfast, freshly cooked, so really hot.
Curtains didn't close at the top so the light got in at 5am. But I'm just a terrible light sleeper I stood on the table to try to reach the top but I'm also very small, not a problem for anyone tall, or for anyone who can sleep through anything..
Friendly and efficient staff The ambience of the hotel and the well kept grounds with wild life As we had a car it was a great base for exploring the wider area and close to Heathrow airport
Nothing Could have stayed longer
location nice room friendly staff
breakfast quality particularly cooked was showing evidence of haning around under heaters for a long time. Fried eggs hard on top, bacon very dry and difficult to chew, likewise black pudding etc. I also hate unsalted butter which appears with my toast. Tried waffles following morning - very dry, hardly any syrup and bacon rock hard. If you want to charge £14.50 per head for breakfast you need seriously to do better than this. My other pet hate about your hotel is the fact that despite being a regular visitor I am asked at reception when booking in for my credit card. I do not carry credit cards as I only have a debit card so everything I spend is instantly removed from my account. This CAUSES major problems every time as I am told to cover costs of extras booked to my room a Debit Card presents a problem. As a well travelled this never happen to us in any other hotel group.
Evening Room Service exceptional - food brilliant and very comfortable rooms
Breakfast Room Service was delivered cold and luke warm tea at best - what a shame
