The staff in the dinning room where very good- standard of service was excellent. Room was very clean Reception staff let the hotel down bad with a very poor standard of service. The reception staff where very poor. No idea of customer service. Let the whole hotel down. Poor service on both check in and departure. I checked out with the receptionist on the phone the whole time!!! On check in the guy showed signs of clinical depression. He couldn't careless and he made it clear.

The photos on booking.com So many things: 1: they don't chardge on international visa directly, they have their calculation and exchange rate with an organasiation they are linked with ( which is higher than the Visa rate). 2: they are not organised as you see a huge miss at the reception, for example I booked a duble room, and they sent me to a room with single bed (my wife was with me on the counter !) , and waited for me to complain about and bring all my loggages back before they send me to a twin room ! 3: the room was really cold, and they kept promising me it will get warmer but it didn't

Unfortunately my reasons for staying at your hotel was due to the death of my Business partners father. I have struggled in answering some of your questions as I did not in stay due to the fact I was moved to another hotel as my booked room was re-allocated to another traveller. I did not have the time to inform you of my late arrival so I left my vehicle at the hotel car park and got the train to the church. The restaurant prices for the evening meal was over priced but the food did taste lovely, however I didn't particularly enjoy the breakfast and had even complain to waiter and ordered a second dish but even that wasn't to my standard or liking, would eat within restaurant again due to prices and quality of breakfast! I liked the price I paid for the room and the room was of good standard and clean, the staff were friendly!

Location Staff were obstructive and unhelpful process driven with no personal consideration: eg: upon arrival advised by the receptionist that "they were only taking admissions after 2pm in the afternoon" despite the fact that there wasn't another customer in sight and it was 1.15pm room service is charging an additional £5.00 to deliver room service on top of the invoice amount service was poor: had to ring twice and waited almost an hour to receive tea and coffee

It was a very welcoming friendly hotel. The staff were all very pleasant. I was able to get an additional adjoining room as I wanted to treat my two grandchildren to a night at the hotel. The time of year was quiet, but I would revisit in the Summer and look forward to a beer on the terrace.

Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Reception staff were helpfull, polite and quick to check us in. Dining room staff were attentive. The food was tasty and the souroundings pleasant. Lots of options for breakfast (buy your breakfast ticket once at the hotel not in advance-couple of pounds cheaper) and good coffee.Got home and realised that I'd Left my phone charger in the bedroom, called to request its return and it was delivered, no charge, a couple of days later. Thanks Thistle! In a rush to get to our morning appointment I didn't notice that I was wrongly charged for internet usage until I got home later that night. The following day I called the Thistle, spoke to Anna and was refunded without fuss or bother. I would rather not have been over charged but it was sorted quickly, thanks again Thistle!

Convenient location - easy walking distance from shopping centres and easy for parking, although a free car park for residents would be nice! We decided to book in for breakfast, but were kept waiting at reception behind a dithering couple booking in. Due to the wait, the young lady on reception gave us complimentary voucher for breakfast, which really made us feel that customer service is important to you.

Inconsiderate residents slamming bedroom doors. Could hear every word being spoken by a couple in the next room having a loud argument (including swearing, crying by the female) and being kept awake until 4.00am!!

The shower curtain had so much urine on it that you could hardly breath in the bathroom. I had to pass through about five sets of doors to get to my bedroom. The internet coverage at that end of the hotel was useless. Your staff have a union attitude. "You can call the help line... Vs... Can I put you through to the help line, they'll likely be able to help right away." They could not... But a refund could not be offered until they were involved (this is stupid).

Very noisy due to a Christmas party, not much of an apology when we complained. Asked for extra towels as only one set in bathroom but were told to look in the cupboard under the safe - ususalyy towels are either in the bathroom or on the bed when you arrive not hidden away in a cupboard

It was convenient as I was on a course at the hotel. Although not as close to the city centre as I would have liked, it was quite walkable. The room was adequate and, had I needed to spend any longer in there, the cramped space and tired decor could have been quite depressing. It was definitely more of a 'place to sleep' than a 'relaxing hotel experience'. The traffic noise kept me awake most of the first night. The amenities were basic and the coffee cup in the room wasn't clean. The shower spray hose leaked and soaked me as I tried to wash my hair over the bath. Internet access at £10 for 24hrs was ridiculous as it was unbelievably slow and intermittent. A waste of time and money! I was also shocked to be charged £15 for breakfast. No, I hadn't pre-booked, but even so. I have had far better experiences in city hotels abroad.

Booked early so got a great deal Didn't expect greatness for the price but the rooms were clean, well decorated and had a nice bathroom. Only 10 minute walk to the shops. Will stay again. Only downside was the price of the breakfast at £12.50. We ate out (full english for £3.10).
