With its sumptuous Renaissance style, The Grand Brighton has a magnificent location on Brighton’s seafront and is just a 10-minute walk from Brighton Pier.
Score from 1158 reviews Very good
This stylish hotel looks out over Brighton Marina to the sea. It has free parking, a bar, a restaurant, modern rooms with monsoon showers and outdoor terraces looking out over the water.
Score from 855 reviews Very good
Great location; short walk to the center of town and to the beach. Friendly staff. Good size room.
Very thin pillows. Carpet in room looked old and dirty. Bathroom had no toilet paper holder (it looked like there was one at some point but had broken off and they didn't bother to replace it)
Great hotel will go back.
nothing all good
The room was good, the bathroom less so. Reception was also welcoming
The bathroom was small and basic.
Noise! Broken shower. Broken extractor fan in bathroom.
Excellent conceive service
Staff at check in desk need to be more welcoming.. They seem very cold. A little like robots.
We have stayed before and find all the staff very friendly & helpful. Any minor problem is dealt with promptly. Breakfasts are wonderful. No complaints at all
Ease of use of all facilities. Great location food good, bar convenient and close to all that matters in Brighton
Strange very steep slope in pool.
Friendliness of all but one of the staff. Value and service of the food on offer.
The fire alarm going off 3 times one night due to their system failures - apparently not the first time it had happened. False alarms. Razor fixture in room loose and not fixed despite reporting twice. Left without towels one day. Check out had a different rate to that arranged via Booking.com. Check out with the problem was not well or friendly handled by reception..
Great location close to The Lanes and the pier. Good sized rooms and spacious public area. Efficient Internet.
Annoying barking dog in room nearby.
Positioning of the hotel; Up to date facilities, different from other hotels in Brighton; Parking underneath the hotel, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot; Romantic meals at the hotel restaurant with the sea view; Staff polite and helpful; Good wi-fi functionality;
A bit expensive, but all hotels in Brighton (yes, including those that are WAY out of date and due for refurbishing!) are. So not a real negative point...
Size of the room. Excellent view. Location to The Lanes and some lovely restaurants. Noise in the room was not a problem
Just the sparseness of the room and dated and worn dressing table
very helpful staff - excellent value upgrade to executive room which was superb
fire alarm going off 3 times during the night. Poor night sleep.
Room decor a little tired, room had connecting door to adjacent room with quite noisey occupants
I upgraded to a sea view and that was beautiful.Lovely view and large spaces room. wifi easy and excellent and included in the price. Room service was good and fast and food was hot. facilities in the room for tea and coffee good. Room was always cleaned very well every day. Pool was beautifully warm. Steam room and Sauna clean and lovely. Room quiet (other than the fire alarm going off several times)
Bed was very uncomfortable for such an expensive room. Pillows of poor quality- Fire alarm went off between eight and ten times during my five night stay. AT least four of those times were after midnight Fridge in the room did not work. Room very hot and as there were no windows that opened - I had to have the noisy air conditioner on all the time Changing room for the pool and gym is very small and the three times I went it was full of mothers with their babies and toddlers -not residents at the hotel but members of the gym. Very difficult to do lengths in the pool with children all over the place.
Location is excellent and close to all the attractions around Brighton. Hotel has a comfortable feel to it with health facitilies and a spacious reception area.
We went to a convention happening in the Thistle, so decided to stay at the same hotel. I had some experience with Thistle in London around Victoria before; I expected this one in Brighton to be at least as good. Checking in went alright, the staff was very friendly and we had our room in less than 5 minutes. We booked a family room, which apparently according to thistle is just a normal room with 2 double beds. I expect a family room to be 2 rooms connected by a door, hopefully with a separate bed per child. The airco in our bedroom was not working very well. Even turned on to the max it was still warm in October! I can only imagine how much of a nuisance it would be to stay here in the summer. The in-room fridge was empty. I thought for a second I walked into an Ibis hotel instead, where this is a "feature", but then I looked again at my booking which costed almost 400 pounds for 2 nights, and realised that wasn't, or at least was not supposed to be the case. Apparently you can call room service if you need the frigo to be filled. The furniture is old. It feels like the hotel itself was built and first decorated in the 70s, it got a bit of a makeover in the early 2000s and never got looked at again. The bathroom feels very 70s, the floor tiles close to the bathtub are stained with dirt, the mixers on the cranes are very much worn and have seen better days. The breakfast is alright if you enjoy the full english style, it's very limited on more "continental" options such as pastries, cakes or variety of breads. For what it's worth, it wasn't included in our rate, even though booking.com made no mention of wether it was or not - you'd think at 400 pounds for a couple of nights it would be included. We paid 25 pounds a day for 2 adults and 1 child aged 9. We had the misfortune of forgetting to book a restaurant in town for saturday night and ended up dining at the hotel restaurant as every place in town was full.
