Great location . It was not clear if you had to have breakfast; we tried it the first day and no-one asked our room so we assumed we would be charged each day. We would have preferred to clearly have the option. |

Hotel has excellent location and the rooms are very well equipped. There is even iron and ironing board. Short walk to centrum area. Parking house difficult to park bigger car. |

Nice, old-fashioned comfort. 1) No option for cheaper continental breakfast - £14.95 for people who only want something quick and light is very expensive 2) room was missing room service menu and TV remote control - small points but annoying ones for me. |

The room was too small, the double bed was pushed against the wall, so you had to clamber out of the bottom of the bed. There was no window and the air conditioning was so noisy (screeching) it could not be used. It felt more like a posh prison cell rather than a 4* hotel room. |

Convenient; provided all the basic needs for a short (business) stay; excellent car parking facility (a) It took 24 hours for missing toilet roll holder to be fitted; (b) TV remote control not functioning - but replaced when I went to the front desk; (c) old sock and half-empty perfume bottle under the bed -- all these indicate insufficient room check between guests |

The very nice receptionist upgraded my room because I had commented on the booking form that I had stayed the previous week and didn't want to be at the back of the building because I had been woken by building noise early in the morning. Brilliant! |

Very clean and comfortable in a great location. Double bed was two single beds pushed together which was disappointing, and there was a function on in the hotel which was very loud even from the third floor up. |

Comfortable room, good bathroom, helpful, friendly staff I didn't like the smell of bleach on the duvet cover! On both evenings we were there, there was a formal dinner - there were a lot of smokers congregating outside the front doorway and the litter they made with their cigarette ends was not pleasant. Could the hotel provide a couple of large "ashpans" a little bit away from the door, to save the job of sweeping up the cigarette ends? |

Very nice receptionist, beautiful building and central location. Pleasant, if not special, room. My room was at an exceptionally low rate so hard to complain about the fact that it was facing towards a building site and I was woken in the early morning (5am) by site work. Also the television didn't work properly and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. It felt like the Thistle was getting rid of rooms at a low rate that it wouldn't want to let otherwise. |

The service staff were very polite and helpful. Hotel is very central, adjacent to the old City part of Bristol, and within 10-15 minutes walk of charming Clifton, and within 5 minutes walk to Colston hall.Staff facilitated a very early check-in, though I had to purchase an upgrade as no standard rooms were available at the time of my arrival- 8am. The upgrade I chose came with morning papers, late check out, parking and a bottle of wine- I chose white and received a very nice Pinot Grigio. I had one meal in the restaurant which was excellent- even though I only had a burger, I was treated like royalty and the burger was top notch. I would stay here again. Though I purchased an upgrade, my room did not seem large enough to be a King room as described by concierge. I did not query this until check out, but the desk staff then did confirm it was listed as a king, so I would suggest viewing the room before taking an upgrade in future. There was no in- room safe, and the switch to turn on the towel heater wasn't labeled so at first I thought the heater wasn't working. The pool and whirlpool in the spa were closed for maintenance when I visited, which was a disapointment. I found bed a bit hard, but it was a good mattress. |

I have stayed here for business years ago, during that time the Hotel has been refurbished and is looking good. Hotel staff more than helpful, great place to stay The Spa and pool was out of service for the weekend for maintainence, this was one reason why we stayed there to relax and use it. |

I liked the closeness to shops and restaurants and a quiet street at which it is placed. The fact that the spa was closed when we arrived. |

The city centre location was excellent. The staff were very courteous and the hotel was very nice We were supposed to have a twin and after checking in we were given a double but assured it would be a twin when we returned in the evening. On our return it hadn't been changed and we had to mess around and eventually got another duvet and pushed the double bed apart. |
