Very good location. Nice hall and staircase. Good concierge. Upon our arrival we were offered the upgrade to a room of higher category at the cost of 46 pounds per night. Although they argued that the better room was bigger and had been refurbished, we didn't do the upgrade, thinking, naively, that in spite of having a small room, it would still be a confortable 4 stars hotel room to the level of the money we payed for it. We were very wrong: - the room was indeed ver small, no space to place the lugagge and needing refurbishing; - big but OLD bathroom desperatly needing refurbishing, looking everything but clean! -broken bin, no desinfection seal in the toilet, no toilet brush! -check out was at 12h00, but between 9h00 and 11h00 we had three different members of staff knocking on our door to check whether we were out or not; -the iron wasn't working neither. We booked a "Chambre Double de Luxe" but what we got was something well below that.

The central location, the public rooms were amazing. Staff friendly. I paid un upgrade from deluxe twin room to executive twin room, but I do not think it was worth it, the rooms are miniscule even by London standards, no storage room for suitcases they just had to stay by the bed, if my daughter sat at the desk I could not get past her, the room was nowhere as big as my bedroom at home and I only live in a small house. The bathrooms were nice but small, not like other luxury hotels I have stayed at in London. There were no slippers or bathrobe provided, this is apparently because they are stolen, if you wanted one you had to pay £35. On the first morning I was told we were not entitled to continental breakfast even though I had paid an upgrade, I went to reception and it was sorted out for the second morning. The staff were excellent even though some could not speak very good english, but I dont think the hotel is worth the price, I have stayed at better for similar price. Also the room that we were in was quite noisy, lorries reversing in the road etc. The bin in the bathroom was broken and there was no iron in the room, we had a bottle of wine delivered as part of the upgrade, the ice bucket was not removed by staff the next day, it remained on the table for the whole of our stay even though it was finished with. Overall it was ok but far too expensive for the size of the rooms, I would not stay again.

Location, rooms are good size Lobby and checking area is too dark, executive lounge should not charge for drinks and snacks, wifi should be included in the room rate

It's location is the best thing about the hotel Check in took too long - our preferred room was not available and only got upgrade as another guest was at the checkin complaining about her room and we got that one! Room had no hotel information and had to ask twice for this. Although it has some hangers there was no room for any other storage for clothes and they had to remain in suitcase. Also very little room for suitcases. Fridge was always warm despite trying to reguulate it. Air con took ages to work. Although we asked and was confirmed that we could have a late check out our key cards failed on the last day and only then were we told we should have renewed them around 12.00 on last day. Also got a call saying we should have checked out despite our pre arranged deal.

Good bathroom with plenty of towels 1) No telephone on/in work area (stayed in junior suite) 2) Iron and ironing board are quite frankly useless given the fact that the wardrobe door doesn't open enough to allow proper use 3) secondary glazing largely ineffective at keeping out traffic noise from the strand 4) On arrival, check in was only just adequate and urgent documents were not given to me (I had to go and find them) from concierge

It was very welcoming and friendly, beautiful decor and very festive. Fab location and for London the best price we could get. Sound really travels in the rooms, creaking floors and noisy plumbing.

Perfect location! The hotel was strategically located that we just had to walk short distance to go where we want. At night, it was easy to find nightclubs where we can hang out for a drink & dance. It's a fine hotel but I expected so much more for the price that we paid. The staff were exceptionally helpful, accommodating and friendly. They are all well trained. Even cleaners greet you with proper respect when they come across the guests. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets and bedding materials are superb in quality. There was a bit of a problem with the flushing mechanism in the toilets. I also overheard other guests complaining about the flush. But I guess this was something they could not fix, otherwise they would not give such room to guests. Probably the old piping has something to do with it. But nevertheless, I had a great experience at Charing Cross. It's just a minus point for Charing Cross not to provide free wifi for guests. Almost everywhere in London, wifi is free. So we read emails when we go out. Wifi is free in restaurants, bars, coffee shops. So I do not understand why Charing Cross could not provide wifi for guests free of charge.

Location is excellent very central and great for public transport. Staff are very good and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms a little noisy, windows could do with better double glazing especially at the front. Annoying classical music from foyer and reception could be heard in the room/bathroom in the mornings. I stay here often and its purely for location purposes. Feel the rooms are a little tired and could do with an upgrade. Especially the junior suites. Its an old style hotel

For central London, the room was a fair size and reasonably good. But it's room only advertised price was in the region of £200 a night. Most of the common parts (grand staircase and halls) were nicely restored. As I parked my car my wife was coerced into a room upgrade. This involved walking two extra corridors and finding a second lift. Incredibly this 4**** hotel has no restaurant - now I know why. The Brasserie served the worst, virtually inedible steak meal of my life. The potted shrimp starter almost certainly caused us our very upset stomachs. The steak was tepid, stringy, tough, full of tendons and abysmally prepared. It was served, looking most unappetizing, with no steak knives on an unhygienic wooden board. Bizarrely the chips, which were good, came in a stainless steel cup. After this exceptionally poor meal they attempted to charge us full price, knowing the steak was awful. The Brasserie is a crowded joke of a narrow cafe with no room to pass between the very small tables. Avoid at all cost.

The ambience created by the nightlights in the evening!! This hotel didn't live up to my expectations I'm afraid.Confusion seemed to reign amongst the staff from the beginning of my stay until the end. There was confusion over my reservation, confusion over drinks in the bar, confusion over the use of the internet, confusion over an order for afternoon tea.....it became a little wearing after a while I have to say.Breakfast was a bit of a shambles....poor display, cold porridge and coffee and rubbery eggs wasn't what I expected from such a hotel. The public parts of the hotel are lovely, but the room we stayed in was pretty shabby.....even had scrawl on the wall! I've stayed in a fair few hotels but I'm afraid this one really let the side down!!

I have stayed at the Charing Cross Hotel many times and I have been very happy with the service. This time I was very dissapointed. I upgraded my room and one of your service staff brought a bottle of complimentary wine to my room. I asked if the bottle was a screw top and the lady member of staff said "yes". It was five minutes later that I discovered that it had a cork and I had to ask for room service to attend again to open it. I ordered two breakfast to be delivered to the room between 9 - 930 the following morning. We waited and waited and the breakfast did not arrive. We checked outside the room and the card was still there. I had placed it outside well before 11pm the night before. I rang room service and they said that we would get our breakfast within twenty minutes. This did not happen for another forty minutes making us miss our plans for the day. When we got the breakfast it was not what we ordered. My partner is vegetarian and I am diabetic and we could not eat the food. It should be noted that the drinks and food were cold in any case. I spoke to the supervisor on duty, Racheal. She was very helpful. Even with the measures that she put in place I was very dissapointed regarding my stay.

Good location and a plesant hotel, however, please read below. Sorry to say having stayed many times in the Charing Cross Hotel, but not for 5 years or som due to young children, I looked to stay again for my wifes 40th birthday & was initially put off by the price of £284 for a room so looked elsewhere. Eventually found a more reasonable price £222, but webbsite said significant refurbishment. Not the case, yes the dinning area was always very pleasant & remains so & the room was adequate, but not the luxury suggested by the price or webbsite. A disappointing experience I am affraid & not good value for money.

Had to change room as TV reception was so poor it was unwatchable. The really poor thing was I had paid for an upgrade and had to move the next day. What was really annoying was that it was very clear from the maintenance guy’s reaction that this was not the first time this had been reported and probably not the only room to suffer from this poor signal!

Polite and helpful staff. Ideal central location for main attractions. The room was very clean and modern, very enjoyable stay and would recommend and return to the hotel again! Could sometimes be a little noisy if windows were open at night time as there were people at bars round about.

The hotel was comfortable, in a good position with friendly staff. Internet access is at 1 star hotel level. You buy a card that is available all over the uk. It didn't work for our computer, and when we used it on the hotel's computers it was s l o W. Telephone expensive - local 14 minute call cost 15 pounds.

I stayed at the Charing Cross 30 years ago. It has since been renovated and has a more modern look, but the traditional look of the building has been retained. The last time in London, which was 5 years ago, I stayed at the Cumberland, another Guoman Hotel. But nothing beats the location of Charing Cross. The location of this hotel is what convinced my husband to go back to London next year, and stay again in this hotel. Within minutes you are in Trafalgar,Covent Garden, Piccadilly or by the Thames where you can view the London Eye, and other wonderful sights. I love this hotel! The staff is also very friendly and helpful!

Excellent facilities. We paid £35 for an upgrade to a junior suite with a bottle of wine. The suite was lovely and well worth it. The candle lit foyer is such a lovely touch and the staff were superb. Special mention should go to Estelle who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Top marks

“Great location, very clean apartment. very helpful staff - I was with small child and without any additional charges they gave me a baby coat, even I didn't have to ask for it, they proposed me this by then self. The bed was comfortable. Kitchen was quite small but large enough for three-day trip. Elevators were small but fast:). I can really recommend this place for somebody who would like to stay near to the most interesting places in London, in the heart of London.” Danuta, Bruxelles |

“Hotel położony jest w dobrym miejscu, blisko British Museum, metra oraz ulicy ze sklepami. Jest bardzo czysty i przytulny, pokoje są wyposażone w czajnik i żelazko. Pokój był bardzo cichy. Większość obsługi jest bardzo pomocna i uprzejma. Dostałam pokój przed godziną zameldowania co było bardzo miłe.” Jowita, Warsaw |
