Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel  

The position could not be better, as it is right above Charing Cross station and central to the theatres and within pleasant walking distance to Buckingham Palace. On our arrival we were offered a Junior Suite with breakfast for an additional 35 pounds per night, which we took and the room was superb, with a large bathroom and lounge area etc.....very good.

It is now 2012 and WiFi should be available in the hotel free of charge. The breakfast selection of foods was very good, but both the food and the plates could be hotter.

We love London and have visited many times over many years. We have tried some other hotels, but Charing Cross Hotel has always been our favorite. The location is excellent with sights and shopping and theaters and Rules all within walking distance. The atmosphere is friendly and congenial, even if recent improvements have made interior decorations less cozy and too modern/efficient. The Brasserie and the Restaurant are not very inviting, even if the food is good and service excellent. Not a place to go before or after the theater.

The breakfast-in-the-room service was a disaster Wednesday morning. Our simple Continental Breakfast came one hour late and after four telephone reminders. - Coffee mostly weak and tasteless. - One bread-plate always missing. - 12 pieces of toast for two people ridiculous. - Friday we received 8 jars of jam, butter portions scattered over the tray and no margarine at all. - The elegant room (no. 870) does not have any drawers at all for personal clothing. - No stands for luggage, which must serve as drawers on the floor. - How come the room has only one chair for two visitors. - Is this **** rating?

Consistently good, very nice staff and excellent location. Have stayed there several times.

Computers were down for two days so we couldnt sort out our bill. We also had to wait an extra hour to check in which was a nuiscance

The decor was really beautiful and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Good situation, handy for sight seeing, theatres, rail network, markets. Rooms clean and fresh. Food available for all occasions at a reasonable price,

Have stayed at the hotel twice now and on each occasion have been looking forward to the complimentary bath robes and slippers as advertised on the web site and usual for a four star hotel (have perviously stayed in three star hotels hence this was an added luxury). Bath robes however were not supplied. The first year they were not available, this second year I did not bother to ask.

The location is fantastic, as the hotel is on a walking distance from some major attractions, such as Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus... Beds at rooms were comfortable and staff was extremely friendly.

Some dirty things spotted: Within the hotel room, air-conditioning units were filthy (lots of dust!), bathroom could have more proper cleaning too. Must annoying part however, were the dirty plates being found at the breakfast area. With regards to hygiene, the hotel could improve!

The location of this hotel is perfect ! so close to both the stations for rail or tube, close for Covent Garden, and many attractions on the Strand. The service was very good and the rooms very comfortable if not a little small but the quality of hotel was great. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again

The only point I would highlight was the lack of a hair dryer in the room, just couldn't find it anywhere!

No WiFi. You can buy some pricy hotspot vouchers and it sucks. You will have to reenter the username and password every 2 minutes and the connection is awful. Nothing in the minibar. Painfully slow elevators.

Extremely comfortable hotel, excellent food, fantastic location for theatres. Would definitely recommend and would most definitely stay there again.
