Pleasent restaurant and staff, generally very good I ordered a double room - it was a great disappointment to get two single beds pulled together, one of which was a different height than the other leaving a 2/3 inch drop in the middle of the 'bed'. Very uncomfortable and unhappy with the poor response of the staff who were lacklustre in their concern. Not bothered comes to mind.

The house white wine was pleasant but, at £18 per bottle (inc 12 1/2% service) so it should be On my first night the room was cold and the heating control virtually impossible to get at. On my first morning the newspaper I had ordered failed to arrive. I ate in the restaurant that night. The meal was average but expensive and used the cheapest possible ingredients. On my second morning I woke at 7 o'clock to find no heating and no hot water. On checking out at 7.30 I was told at first that the absence of hot water was due to excessive demand. When I expressed some scepticism I was told that there was a boiler fault. To add insult to injury, they then tried to charge me for the newspaper that had not been delivered on my first morning. I thought the whole experience was shocking.

The one saving grace, was a waitress in the evening who put the entire management we had encountered to shame with her ability to converse and make the evening pleasant. The Management staff were very rude. The pipes in the room groaned and shook whenever someone took a shower (from anywhere in the hotel it seems) The walls were paper thin, to the point that we could hear somebody whistling and coughing in their bathroom whilst we were in bed. Bed was very uncomfortable. Worst stay in a hotel for a very long time!

The breakfast was good with a wide choice and the staff pleasant. The fact that we had to pay £6 for an overnight cap park space was in our view unacceptable, guests should not be charged as this is not the case in most hotels we've stayed in. The cost of the breakfast was more than we would have expected.

Health club facilities There was no soap at all in my room. Although the room was a good price, the hotel made up for it by charging higher prices, particularly the drinks...and be aware there is a £6 a night car parking fee

I booked the week before and got an attractive rate, otherwise I would have driven home and back the next morning. I arrived cold from walking outside in the evening. I was disappointed that the room was not heated enough.

The room service took two hours to answer us. The food was very average and over priced. The staff were really nice. I undersatnd it was New Years Eve weekend but the whole idea we checked into a hotel was for relaxing not to be waiting on the end of a phone for two hours to be answered.

Swimming pool and the other facilities - jacuzzi, steam room. Room clean and warm. Price excellent for the type of hotel. Lift not working (not the hotel's fault, I suppose), I suppose the main detail is the standard-issue characteristics of the place. Breakfast might have been better with some decent bread and marmalade.

Hi. I stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and it was good. The restaurant staff were particularly superb, always smiling, quietly efficient and an absolute credit to your hotel. All of them were ladies, young and energetic. They would be welcome to work in my company based in Bristol although I live in Bath.Breakfast (same bubbly girls serving) was excellent. The bath taps were antiquated and seemed as though they were seized up and we both fond difficulty in getting a bath as opposed to a shower. On arrival we went for a drink at the bar but the barman was lacking character and enthusiasm and I thought he must have had a bad day in the betting shop. (Not really a complaint but so much in contrast to the girls across the way in the restaurant)

The location was perfect for us. The staff were wonderful and the food excellent. Although the room was very clean, there was a musty smell which did go after a while. The windows would also have condensation on them in the mornings.

How you can charge up to £100 per night per room only and then have the nerve to charge an extra £6 for the car park beats me.

The staff are always friendly, it is handy for the Greenbelt festival where I was working, prices just about within reach for someone like me on a budget! The spa was struggling with a problem with the water level - water seemed a bit cloudy and chillier than I remember from last year. Other than that all good - really enjoy our annual visit. There was some confusion with the booking however - not sure how or why. My confirmation email said I had paid room rate only so I did not eat breakfast - on a budget! On checking out I was told that breakfast was included so I missed out on five days of a breakfast buffet - very disappointed.
