The convenience of being so close to the centre of the city and within a shopping centre. Bus route at the door The heat of the rooms on the road side and our daughter stayed on the other side of the hotel and was disturbed every night by chavs on the roof of the shopping centre. The staff were took several nights to finally sort out the problem

Very efficient check in, superbly placed for shops and central Edinburgh. Room tidy and clean - able to control temperature of room easily. Very close to airport connecting buses and mainline station, easy to get taxis and close enough to walk to central Edinburgh highlights - you can walk into John Lewis shopping centre via a direct link from the hotel (not even stepping outside!). Excellent value for money and would certainly stay again.

The location is excellent, when arriving by train. Also the shops and main attractions are within easy reach, The hotel staff were extremely helpful without exception, We only ate in the hotel on one occasion and this was Jamie's Highland Evening. The food was very average and the service was poor. The catering staff focused mainly on the large tour groups and were very stretched. Hotel guests appeared to be regarded as an after thought. The entertainment however was brilliant.

Breakfast very good and waitress staff excellent. Twin room was large enough with views over front of hotel. Tea & Coffee making facilities in room. St James shopping precinct very close. Hotel very central and about 5 minutes walk from Waverley. Hotel bar stayed open til about 1am. Stayed 2 nights and would stay again. Only 4 TV channels and not very well tuned ! Had to ring Reception to put heating on in room on Day 2 (heated towel rail never came on).

The staff were very friendly. The scottish nights were always booked by outside coach parties. The en suite in the room was very small, shower flow very poor, cut my head twice on the shower head as it was so low. We invited friends to join us for dinner at the hotel and we wished we hadn,t, the standard of food for the price was very poor, the wine was very expensive. Please anyone paying for extras at reception eg pre booking breakfast, keep your reciept they tried to charge us twice and would have if I hadn,t got the proof.

We booked 5 twin rooms for a weekend break. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and facilities excellent. The location of the hotel was perfect and room prices were very reasonable. I would recommend the hotel and would certainly use this hotel again in the future.

The relaxed atmosphere; very good meals at fair price; ideal situation; décor/furnishings; cleanliness; friendly staff. Breakfast at £10 was pricey, especially if you wanted only a light breakfast of (say) a boiled egg and toast and coffee.

Service was very good. Front desk very helpful and friendly. Check in was quick and easy Internet never worked in room 509. I complained for 2 day and there was disagreement between bt company and the hotel as to where the routers were located. I could not get any WiFi signal. Also, lot of road noise at night and needed ear plugs to sleep

It is well located and affordable. Reception was quite poor. I had to wait for two members of staff to finish their conversation before one of them eventually acknowledged me. You have to buy vouchers for breakfast when booking online. Not typical for a 4 star hotel, more akin to a budget value establishment. The hotel itself gives the impression of a hotel that has ticked all the boxes to get 4 stars by achieving the absolute minimum standard in all areas. The rooms are very tired and contain no additional comforts that give a hotel an edge over competitors. By the time you have added £10 a day for breakfast and £10 a day for broadband, you might as well stay in slightly more expensive hotel that will offer you a better experience and friendlier service.

I booked for a handicap wheelchair room. They only had 1 handicap room and it was given to someone else. I booked this room 4 months ago. No rail handles for getting into or out of the tub. Very unsafe for even my daughter age 36. Doorways were too narrow to fit a wheelchair. 8 steps up and 12 steps down to enter the mall. Please do not label this hotel Handicap accesabile when it is NOT

Close proximity to major attractions, within walking distance, hotel staff very friendly and helpful, rooms attractive and well laid-out, affordable. We had no problem checking in early. If we were visiting Edinburgh again would choose to stay there. We were on the sixth floor so that may explain why water pressure was not so good. However, that would be my only complaint which actually for our stay was very minor.

I really enjoyed breakfasts. The location was good, close to the railway/bus station, not far from the city centre (in walking distance). The hotel is next to a shopping centre. I think that the Internet access should be free of charge. I had connectivity problems in my room (which was on the 6th floor).
