Great location. Helpful staff. The room might not be very big yet it has everything one needs.
Location and staff
The family room sofa bed needed a eater mattress
Accessibility to train station - across from Central station..10 minute walk to Exeter St. David's
Central location Good restaurants near by
Noisy room even on 3rd floor Hot even in Jan - No A/C! Uncomfortable bed
Creaking flook boards, but nothing much that can be done as it's an old building.
Could not fault anything to do with the hotel. From start to finish everyone could not have been more friendly or efficient special mention for Lesley on reception who couldn't have been more helpfull
I could find nothing to dislike about the Thistle and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel
The staff at the front desk and in the dining room were very nice and helpful when you needed their assistance.
In my business in L.A. I supply 500 meals a day and I feel the eggs served in the morning from being precooked and left on a tray should be handled different, Your food cost was affected by the eggs and other hot dishes being thrown out. You should get an approximate count before preparing the hot items or your buffet is not cost affective. Also, when your still eating the plate should not be removed. It happened to my family at dinner and breakfast.
The bar/restaurant areas were nice and comfortable, food good, staff were excellent particularly on reception where I was afforded a very warm welcome
The room was cold with the radiator off when I walked in, no heating all day. On a day when temperatures barely got above freezing, a warm or even semi-warm room would have been welcomed.
We found it was very cold in the resturant when we were having breakfast
Location and space
Bit basic on toiletries no sewing kit or shoe shine
Comfortable, friendly hotel right in the City Centre
A good four star breakfast, let down by cheap and nasty marmalade
great location, comfortable beds
bathroom was kinda small
Helpful receptionist on arrival, good value breakfast and evening meal ( charming restaurant), good sized bedroom, comfortable bed, full size bath, excellent shower, instant hot water, grand staircase
TV operation not intuitive and not the prettiest of buildings to look at!
Staff - so nice, all of them. For city centre location, surprisingly quiet room. Great bed Staff again, very keen to help, wish I'd asked them to show me how to turn the shower on now....good value too.
Instructions by the shower, or use some shower that can be turned on. WiFi could have been stronger... but not a big problem
Very hot rooms, no parking available on arrival
Stepping out of hotel straight into city centre
I found the staff helpful rooms clean WIFI quick.
Thistle promote advising staff of allergies etc... However the kitchen failed to follow through. After the meal was returned three times, we gave up. This unfortunately happended on 3of 4 days we stayed at Rougemont.
Lovely interior, very imposing. Excellent staff on reception and restaurants.
Traditional Hotel with lovely grand old features.
Some newer staff excellent, others could have been more helpful!
Location and staff Hot water
Paying for parking Disturbed by noises all night Packet marmalade and jams No heated towel rail Lack of fridge
We were given a large spacious room in 3rd floor at back of hotel. Facilities are what you would expect.
Was kept awake until early hours 1am for loud music dimming down then to a thud until 3am. I always travel with earplugs but could, feel the bass in my chest! Noticed next morning a note on bedside table that said earplugs available from reception. If we'd seen it on arrival would have asked to be moved. Next time will book a hotel out of the city centre.
Staff were really friendly, food was good, free wi-fi.
Paying £8 for parking. A gym room would have been welcomed.
Location Good breakfast and friendly restaurant staff Comfortable bed (we chose king size), fairly spacious room Better than usual wifi
Limited parking space Air conditioning made room atmosphere quite dry
That you had to pay for parking
