Score from 553 reviews Very good
Too much noise between 2.00am and 4.00am
Clean and well located. Sights and shopping only minutes away. Helpful and friendly staff. Large comfortable beds. Nice touch of free tea and coffee in reception at checkout. Small problems were resolved quickly. Hotel could do with a little updating in certain areas but overall we were very satisfied.
Rooms could do with a small refrigerator or minibar.
Staff are so helpful
No refrigerator in the room and the mattress was not comfortable
The hotel exudes old world charm and is ideally located within the city, close to the cathedral, shops and opposite Exeter Central station. All the staff were welcoming; nothing seemed too much trouble in making our stay most enjoyable.
This is large hotel and I suspect the sum of the parts means some rooms are air-conditioned and others not. Our room fronted the main street and had an electric fan (not ideal). Opening the window of the secondary glazing allowed air to circulate but resulted in slight disturbance from traffic.
Excellent room and facilities with good location
We had a great stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming and great with our kids. We'd definitely recommend it and will be going back one day.
Very friendly and helpful reception staff Offer to open the bar 24 hours a day if you would like Great buffet breakfast e.g. two types of bacon cooked both crispy and soft General well run atmosphere and comfy bed
Exeter city shopping centre needs to demolish those horrible new modern buildings and come up with something that looks a bit more like Exeter. It is the Birmingihamfication of Exeter.
Everything. I was happy that the hotel room had bath, since a lot of hotels prefer to have showers instead. The hotel had a glamor and elegance around it. Close to station (Exeter Central) and Royal Albert Memorial Museum which was a nice surprise and great attraction.
Nothing really to dislike.
Location was ideal, breakfast which was included was excellent!
The room was very warm though it was a summer weekend! Had a fan but not that effective.
The staff was polite and helpful. We had a deluxe king room, it was a nice size, comfortable and very clean.
No air conditioned and if you open the window it is noisy.
tired room, lack lustre welcome, bad ventilation
I checked in at 3 am and had a really good night's sleep. The bed was very comfortable.
The shower cubicle was a bit too small. Hard to turn around and get in and out.
Excellent newly decorated room, staff dealt with a problem pleasantly and efficiently. Modt impressed.
The lightng in the bar. A bit of a souless atmosphere. Nice staff tho.
Friendly , helpful staff and sparkling cleanliness. Cotton sheets and duvet covers. Safe deposit box situated in room. Free high speed Wi-Fi. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Very convenient for City centre shops, Cathedral, Museum level walk away.
Walls of 'standard rooms' a bit thin so drawer slamming neighbour was a nuisance.
Good sized room well presented. Quality breakfast
Parking could have been an issue, but was fine for us.
Very good staff on reception. Very comfortable room, perfect for the overnight stay and at a reasonable price.
Restaurant had little atmosphere because it was quiet, and the waiter seemed unsure of himself - but he may have been new to the role. He was certainly polite enough and very apologetic for delays to our order.
comfort and cleanliness
wafer thin walls, we could hear conversation in next room and snoring doors banging in corridor
Extremely convenient location, great breakfast, very clean and well appointed room. Over all, a great combination of subtle elegance with modern efficiency.
Because there was no air conditioning we needed to keep the window open, which meant we were a bit disturbed by street noise on weekend nights.
Location, and staff
Location of room
Room was lovely, staff were excellent and hotel was situated within walking distance of some lovely tourist attractions
We weren't told about evening roadworks that went on past 11pm. Also being so close to the rail station was very noisy as there is a table tennis table right outside and youths were playing on it until 2am. Closing the windows made the room too hot to sleep, not ideal
An excellent hotel. Clean, bright surroundings and friendly staff. Would highly recommend this hotel to others.
Room.Breakfast, take away facility for hot drinks
great hotel in a great location.
Good facilities and bed was very comfy
Attention to detail - broken/wonky light fittings.
