Chosen for overnight stay after attending wedding in Glasgow, the reasons for choosing the Thistle were price, location (close to hotel where wedding was held) and on site parking. Our room was allocated on arrival which was before earliest check in time, staff also allocated rooms to our friends on the same floor/corridor. Would use again for city trip as close to theatres, shopping, restaurants.

Efficiency of Reception Staff, coping with multiple connected bookings, was outstanding. I slept very badly because of the persistent very loud hum throughout.

My TV reception was really bad and I asked if they could have a look at it, instead of fixing it they gave me another room which was really nice and were very professional and courteous about the whole thing. I also eat at the restaurant and the food was great, it took a while for the food to come out because there was a problem in the kitchen but instead of just making me sit there the girl who was serving made the effort to come out and say that it was going to take a bit longer and apologised. I just wish that more restaurants would just put their hands up and let you know about these things because at the ened of the day, it really doesn't matter if you have to wait a while but it's nice to know instead of just being made to wait around so although I don't know the name of the girl who served me she was brilliant. All in all, had a great stay and although the fitness equipment was showing it's age a little the pool and steam / sauna rooms were excellent. Would have no problem recommending / staying there again. The gym equipment was a little knackered but still usable.

Whilst there was a part on the ground floor and a City Centre location my room on the sixth floor was still quiet. Enjoyed the swimming pool which was the feature that attracted me to this hotel. A common theme amongst all hotels seems to be an inadequately stocked tea/coffee/milk/sugar facilities in your room. As I was using a double room for single occupancy this was particularly, disappointing.

Local to shops, clean, tidy, friendly & helpful staff, reasonable value, fit for purpose. There is only ONE thing I didn't like about The Thistle and purely for this reason I would find an alternative hotel should I have to visit Glasgow again. You charge £6.00 for 90 minutes of internet usage in your room and in this day and age you can get wi-fi access for free in most Bars and MacDonalds etc., and being a patron of the hotel the charge asked is quite ridiculous and insulting. For this reason only I would NOT recommend the hotel!

i liked the fact that the hotel was very centrally located and was able to be at the main shopping area within a couple of minutes. i also liked the fact that security at the hotel was good, keycards needed to enter all floors. breakfast was very good, good choices for a fair price. our room was a fantastic size but let down by the cleanliness. tiles in the bathroom obviously needed a deep clean as were sticky and although the beds were really comfy, i'd have preferred a mattress protector instead of just a sheet. also the furniture had a few 'cup ring' stains. i spent very little time in the room but if i had been there for longer would have requested a different room.
