We stayed at the Thistle as we were going racing at Haydock Park, it was a perfect venue - the spa and gym, although small, were perfect for our needs. We ate on the Saturday evening, we had sandwiches and they were very poor.

The food was nice and varied and tasty - my compliments - (Though having various different prices advertised for the breafkast didn't do you any favours - I found it from £10 to £14.95 + £5 tray charge depending on where I looked - Try offering 3 Options - Buffet Breafkast with Booking at £7.95 - Meal after Booking at £8.95 and Budget Option - Tea, Toast, Cereals or frut or 'Continental' for £4.95 - a lot more people are watching ther cholestorol and weight nowadays - so charging them up to £15.00 for a blood clotting, unhealthy greasy breakfast won't do you any favours with the eco lot and the health concscious and you dont give them an option to watch their weight. Beds were too firm and Pillows too wimpy to be of comfort - Try having a word with the Marriott Hotels and Investing in their Mattress Toppers which take out that 'Ironing Board' feel that all hotels seem to have adopted for their beds. Also offer 2 Pillows per Customer - One of a firmer Memory Foam type construction and another softer one. Try asking the older audience (above 45 - 50) about their comfort needs.

Lovely hotel but the drinks and food were ridiculously expensive. Room was very clean and comfortable though only spent one night here attending a wedding function. Did not use any of the leisure facilities. A lift to some of the room would have been useful as lugging a case up stairs is not always possible.

The staff were very friendly. The room was way past its sell by date. Wallpaper was coming off the walls, the towels in the bathroom were clean but grey not white as the started out being. The grouting in the bathroom round the bath/shower are was black. Where the trouser press was situated had never been dusted or thoroughly clean in months it was filthy. I do question whether or not, because I got the room through Booking.Com, they allocate sub standard rooms although, I have never experenced this when booking through you before. I will not be staying there again!!!!

Room price The gym is far too small and it has really old equipment! The rooms are not very pleasant either; bathroom was below the standards one would expect from a hotel like Thistle Haydock. Most of the staff members were polite and very helpful but the one that actually greeted us at the arrival and the first impression, that I believe is a very important one wasn't great.

I was particularly impressed with the staff and the friendliness. We were staying at a very busy time qwith two wedding functions going on and we were still given our own individual attention by the staff. Extremely satisfying

Handy for the m6 and Liverpool. My room was well equipped, clean, and a little larger than the average. The guest bar is friendly and has a good selection of bar meals, I had the chicken burger and chips which hit the spot. There is a restaurant that serves proper meals but I only wanted a snack. The £10 Breakfast is served in the restaurant which was ample and set me up for the day. This hotel is very close to the m6 and depending on what side of the hotel you, you will more or less noise. Apart from that, nothing else to report.

Cleanliness, freindly staff Breakfast was expensive for what you get and self service is for budget hotels. Eggs should be cooked on demand not left to congeal and harden, all the rest should be hot not luke warm. Porridge should be hot and have fruit available to go with it, preferably fresh

“Ramada Encore Haydock is an excellently designed modern hotel that feels really fresh to be in. Design of rooms are excellent and this place represents fantastic value for money, both in terms of headline price and sensibly priced extras (e.g. sensibly priced food/room service without stupid room service tray costs). The competition should worry, seems like Ramada Encore has got its proposition and package right.” Neil, Billericay |
