The hotel staff were excellant. Breakfast was delicious and presented very well. Good location. We were disappointed with the bathroom which was very cold. This was due to the poor condition of the window. The water took ages to come through warm for us to take a shower or wash in the handbasin. However, would stay again.

great location for the west end, portabello market and Hyde Park. We were able to upgrade to a park side room at no extra cost.

Location, location, location. Directly off the park- really beautiful! Staff was very nice and very attentive. Mass transit right out the front door for buses, 5 minutes to underground. Plenty of nice shops/food surrounding the hotel. Bathroom is a bit dated but clean and functional.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. The first was in room 321 which was small with a very small bed and very hot. We were unable to get the room any cooler and mentioned the fact the the desk the following morning. As a result, they moved us to room 202 which was very adequate and corrected all of our dissatisfaction with the previous room. If we could be guarenteed a room similar to room 202 at all times, I would consider using this hotel in the future. The breakfast was overpriced and not very good.

We got the room 128 facing Lancaster Gate which is spacious, quiet and with nice decoration. The bed is very comfortable. Great location from where you can take bus to shopping/theatre area conveniently and Hyde Park is just across Bayswater Road. Prefer shower gel to soap. No fridge in room.

The service we got from the front desk was outstanding! Way above the call of duty. They were out of the regular twin double rooms, so gave us an upgrade for the same price. The room was wonderful. The size was quite large and it had a refrigerator. The bathroom was also large and also very nice. There was a fire going in the lobby's fireplace. The hotel is right across the road from Hyde Park. We were able to walk to many restaurants and stores. The hotel was older but well cared for, with beautiful woodwork and chandlers. It was a very charming and comfortable place to stay. I personally don't have any complaints, but others might think the bathroom was too cold. It did take a while for the hot water to reach us, but I actually liked that. I knew it was on the way and was plenty hot once it started. That just seemed to add to the charm of the place.

The staff was friendly and helpful when I requested anything of them. The location is great if you're looking to be in the Hyde Park area. Easy walk to many tube stations so easy to get anywhere in London. Overall a very pretty hotel with a classic/classy look to it. I would have expected more for the money I was paying. I know they are still in the process of renovating so the fact that it look a special 'trick' to flush the toilet, was understandable. However when the electrical outlets didn't work in part of the room, I would think the hotel would have been aware of that ahead of time and had a power strip brought in before I had to request it be fixed. Also on my last night of stay, when I pulled back the sheets to go to sleep, I found that they appeared to be stained with sweat stains. I provided a picture and some feedback on my stay to the hotel when I check out. The staff was apologetic and said the manager would contact me however I've not heard from anyone. I don't expect to, but I just hope they can work out the kinks for people staying there in the future.

Beautiful Victorian building - very nice rooms. Rooms going out onto Bayswater Road, which is very noisy (ear plugs needed!). You have to wait for hot water in the shower for a very long time.

Very pleasant. Big room with full-sized bath. Great location opposite Hyde Park. Room had no view- didn't matter in the least as I was only staying one night. Room was rather hot; I switched on the air conditioning in November.

Friendly staff and nice public areas. The room I had 133 no shower and it must also be next to a boiler room or hot water tank as was very noisey. There was a shower cubicle but no shower and the decor is dated and wood work tired.

The polite, helpful, attentive staff. The location. The food. The parking. The decor (although the room was dated). The room had no view and the windows were clumsily misted up to disguise the mess outside. The bathroom shower was very dated.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful. I was surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. I requested a room with 2 single beds and thought we would be cramped, but was delighted to find it very spacious. The breakfast was also very good. I am extremely happy. I got what I paid for and more. Will definitely stay at the Thistle next time I am in London.

The double room was very small. It had one very small bed and with only one table (on one side the bed was near a wall). I tried to argue that the room was not double but with no luck. They also asked me for my voucher with the price set by booking - like they didn't believe the price that was in their systems.

“The Mornington included a breakfast in the price of the room. The breakfast was very nice indeed and really set us up for the day. If we had been paying for a breakfast separately I'm sure it would have been £10 or £15 each per day. Also the hotel was situated very close to the Lancaster Gate tube station and we were also able to walk across Hyde Park to get to Harrods etc.” Jeff, Newtownards |
