We booked the Thistle Hotel because of its value for money and the images of the rooms prior to arrival. Once we arrived we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and the fastest check in I have ever experienced. We enjoyed the bar and found that previous feedback was really not a fair reflection. We enjoyed a glass of wine (125ml) for £4.00 a glass which I don't think is unreasonable considering you are at a hotel. A larger glass (double the size hence double the price). We were a little baffled when we entered the room to find no tea making facilities but upon reading our room intro sheet were delighted to find them tucked away neatly in a drawer together with complimentary shortbreads!! We really enjoyed the food at the hotel, especially the Beef, Mushroom and Guiness Pie, it was fab!! Wonderful staff, comfortable and warm rooms, a 15 - 20 min walk to the centre of town or a £5.00 taxi journy ensure we had a fantastic time. We loved it so much we want to return in a couple of months. We couldn't find fault with anything and really find it annoying when people write negative feedback - like dated etc - its not!! Very modern if anything. I'm learning that reading feedback is not good prior to a trip as I then feel anxious about what I have booked and on each occasion I have been right to ignore the reviews. Trust our review - its completely honest.

Our room was reasonably clean, although the Kettle though was faulty, and the hairdryer in a dangerous condition. Access to broadband / Wi-Fi was close to robbery Ten pounds for two G&T's down in the bar ensured a short walk to the nearest public house. But to top it all, there was a 24 hour, construction site, right outside of our window, building a very importand kfc outlet. When I departed in the moring, I thought I'd been mugged.

The staff were pleasant and it was comfortable. Having to pay $6.00 for 90 minutes wifi access which had to be used within 24 hours. On two occasions I could not access wi-fi but my money was not refunded when I notified reception. Stinginess regarding bathroom necessities - we stayed for 3 nights but soap, shampoo etc. were not replaced in that time. Breakfast was very expensive at 30 pounds a couple per day.

Nice room. Far from downtown but good taxi service. I will stay again. I really liked the ability to book a rental car at hotel through Alamo. When I tried to do so I was pushed to airport and not allowed to book at hotel. When we arrived I worked with reservationists at Alamo desk who changed pick up to hotel which was wonderful. We stayed at Ramada on Church street for considerable more money. I was very unhappy with Ramada. It only had location but everything else was inferior to Thistle. I did not enjoy the drunken display by locals on Sat evening which is the norm and it was very noisy at Ramada. Never again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The leisure centre was very clean and my little girl loved the pool. The price of breakfast. 14.99 for a continental seems a bit steep. No snacks eg crisps or nuts available in the bar.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was excellent - the fried eggs in particular were really fresh. It was very convenient for the airport and also for our trips out to Culloden and John O'Groats.

The Young woman at reception was very helpful. The only thing that I didn't like was that the breakfast buffet was closing before the time was over and we had to ask for coffee and juice from the kitchen among other things.

Location. Hotel is now in desperate need of tlc! Carpets are very worn, wall paper peeling over the walls and roof, bathroom suite in dire need of a face lift. On the whole a below average hotel and over priced considering the flaws.

The price that was on offer, the room was nice and the central location to the motor way and 2 retail units The room was very small and a bit dated, not enough coffee in the room for two people. The dinner / room service menu was very limited and expensive.

We have stayed at this hotel before and like its location, comfort, and value of the special price that was available at the time of booking. The leisure facilities are a bonus at any hotel, but particularly with this one as it has a spa, sauna, steam room, gym and swimming pool. Food is very good, although to be honest, a little pricey, although I accept it is not a 'budget' hotel, even though on the 2 separate occasions when we stayed, the price was very competitive. As I said in my previous comment, the food was good, but a little pricey e.g. £15 for breakfast is a bit expensive in our opinion.

Fantastic as usual, helpful staff, and simply the most comfortable bedding that I've seen in any hotel. Car park could have done with more salt/grit as it was quite slippy.
