Score from 215 reviews Fabulous
quality of food, friendliness and politeness of staff, good decor
bedrooms were clean but a little shabby
Free Wifi is OK, but needs to offer reliable, high download speeds. This facility needs some attention.
Clean, comfortable and an amazing price! Fab atmosphere in the lounge area too, have stayed here lots of times visiting family and will definitely be back!
Clean, tidy and very very quiet.
Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The foyer was a pleasant comfortable place to sit and the background piano and harp were a very relaxing suitable addition.
There was very little information about the dinning facilities and we were only able to view a 'special' menu before arriviing in the dinning room. We did not get our dinner bill itemised when we checked out so were not aware of what we had paid. Heated towel rail and hair drier did not work in the room.
privacy quietness of location
Noisiness of lounge area--could not hear the lovely harp music being played there live. Live music should be held in a totally separate area where there is no noise or distractions and where silence is a requirement of attendance. Bath water was lukewarm at 08.30hrs Worst of all, staff remove one's drinks if one leaves one's seat in the lounge area for a short while.
Windows in hotel room were filthy on outside and really could have done with a wash. Air vent in bathroom thick with stour also.
great staff, good food and service
room cold when we arrived; window open didnt take long to heat.
The location and staff
Initially thought room looked nice, very warm but nice. However, on closer inspection the bathroom was dirty - black scum under toilet rim, around taps and mildew coming from cold tap. In the bedroom itself there were orange stains on my duvet cover. We had been out most of the evening and it was late in the evening when we noticed how unclean the room was. We stayed in the room as our 6 month old daughter had finally settled for the night and we had unpacked all out luggage. We notified staff in the morning and they were very apologetic. We stayed in the Gailes hotel the following night and this was by far a more pleasant and enjoyable stay.
The new (for me) reception/bar area is much better than my last visit in 2003
Tongue-in-cheek, I missed the lagoon, but it must have been a problem. No complaints
Warm, good shower and comfy bed. No road noise.
Needed someone stopping the children running up and down the corridor most of Saturday night
Nice comfy bed and room ,very good breakfast and the staff in the breakfast room were very nice and helpful will be going back soon
Very clean and nicely decorated room.
Room 225 views and complete quiet Lovely room and superb bed Fantastic evening meal Great eat as much breakfast as you want, large choise of food
Perfect for what I needed for the night. Friendly and helpful staff.
It was a nice wee getaway would go back
The wifi was bad in rooms
The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Not many hotels offer space for a family of five.
The staff were very attentive and the food quality / standard was great.......
Every time we have stayed at the hotel (we have stayed several times) the hotel standard is badly let down by the extremely poor "hot water" system. The hot water supply at the worst is lost completely or at best lukewarm only. A great disappointment....
We were visiting relatives and were happy that hotel was on local / coast bus route and stop in easy walking distance
All the staff were friendly and very helpful and noting was to much trouble
Fire alarm going of for no reason and the staff mentioned noting off it
Location and reception staff
Housekeeping not to a high standard Long walk for young toddler to room
I was quoted £44 per night when I booked which I was told included breakfast. For breakfast I was charged an additional £7.50, a total of £51.50 per night. My sister and her husband, who booked the same day, was quoted and charged £65, £32.50 per head. Hotels similar to Menzies normally charge per room so I was surprised to be charged a single supplement equivalent to £19.00.
I always have a Guide Dog Pup in training with me on my way to and from the Guide Dog Training School in Forfar before I return to Belfast. The Hotel Staff are always very helpful and interested in the pup and how the training is going.
The rooms were large. Staff very pleasant.
The breakfast was taken away at 9am we had to wait for more to come out but saying that it was nice.
