Excellent hotel at a reasonable price. Very convenient for Gatwick. Friendly helpful staff.

I was not very happy when I booked in and I was told that I could not use the restuarant during my stay as they had a coach trip turn up. I ended up walking about 2 miles in the pooring rain to find somewhere half decent to eat.

Very comfortable, nicely furnished hotel. Lift to bedrooms. Good choice of food - either the restaurant or bar meal in pub which is part of the hotel. Did not have to go outside once in the hotel to get to the restaurant or pub - a plus if cold and wet weather. If leaving for early morning flight - room service available for continental breakfast.

Restaurant a bit chilly (in April) because of draft coming through open doorway. Had booked half board - £77 single en suite (April 2012) - included £20 meal voucher valid in either the restaurant or the bar. I had already paid for breakfast with booking but earliest cooked breakfast was I think 7 am. Needed to be at airport before that. Ordered continental breakfast the night before by filling in form as per instructions - however it arrived without some of the cutlery and was incomplete, so ate what I had time for then bought a second breakfast at the airport. Would happily stay there again but on a room only basis if I had an early flight.

Well appointed, clean rooms at a reasonable tarrif. Reception and breakfast staff very helpful. Efficiently run with good transport arrangements between hotel and Gatwick airport, with accurate advice on travel in London.

Steak meals not good value for money. Chicken meals excellent.

A comfortable room, everything we needed, the wet room style bathroom was clean and was a good size.

The entrance gives you the impression that the pub/hotel is closed and boarded up.

Great rooms, convieniently located to Gatwick airport, friendly staff.

Very well presented, excellent room, good shower, good facilities. Free secure parking.

Friendly staff, good location close to airport breakfast cost reasonable compared to many hotels. Be aware the hotel still has bedrooms where smoking is permittted, so if you want a non smoking room make sure you request one. However, we were moved to a non smoking room immediately on request without any problem or hesitation. Will definately be using the hotel in future whe travelling from Gatwick.

Check in took a while due to 1 person on reception and a queue of guests waiting for his attention

We used the Chequers as an overnight stay before flying to Grenada for a week. We found them to be very efficient, and good value for money particularly with the facility to park the car there for a week.

Our only criticism, was that our room was really really hot, but bearing in mind that if was February, I guess it was quite difficult to keep the temperatures of the room to a level that was suitable for everyone.

After a three night booking, an attempt to charge £6 per night for parking. A very hard bed and pillows.(executive room). Limited choice of menu in hotel. Limited choice of menu in a somewhat grubby pub.
