The location near Piccadilly Gardens station for public transport, and a short walk from the shopping area. No free wifi connection. Had to pay 6 pounds for a vourcher for 90 minutes.

Fair prices via booking.com For a business hotel really a big minus: no free Internet (neither WIFI nor LAN)! Therefore I can't recommend this hotel for business trips at all.

this hotel was used as a stop over on way to Holiday destination, it was ok friendly enough, room a bit dark not much natural light but ok for one night, good value breakfast if ordered and paid night before.

I love the location of the Thistle in Manchester as well as the comfort and facilities that the rooms provide. The rooms on the first floor at the back of the hotel are directly above the service entrance and can be quite noisy early in the morning.

We stayed on 5th May. At 3.00am and again at 5.00am we were woken by people screaming in the corridor outsde our room. At one point they were hammering on our door yelling someone's name and asking to be let in. When I complained the next morning, the staff at reception were polite but were not really bothered. No compensation was offered. We will not be choosing to stay at tThe Portland Thistle again. I have been running a business for 20 years. I would certainly be offering compensation in similar circumstances, especially in this economic climate.

Good location for shops and taxi rank right outside. Secure parking around the back. The size of the room was a little small but comfortable for what we needed.

Good value and only 5 minutes from the main shopping area. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice pool and jacuzzi although the pool is a plunge pool not big enough to swim in. The breakfast is £10 if booked on check in or before Midnight and we were not advised of this on check in. The breakfast though was all you can eat, plentifull and enjoyable though would stay again.

Clean, well located, well run hotel. Problem free and efficient. Room was small but that wasn't a major problem. Could really have done with a kettle though!

Staff very friendly and was good value for money. Location is perfect for going to the city. Like the security of the door being locked at night but think there should be a sign to let people know about this as I was unaware....luckily someone spotted me and let me in I would like to see two pillows per person on a bed as one isn't really enough
