Fair prices via booking.com For a business hotel really a big minus: no free Internet (neither WIFI nor LAN)! Therefore I can't recommend this hotel for business trips at all.

The location near Piccadilly Gardens station for public transport, and a short walk from the shopping area. No free wifi connection. Had to pay 6 pounds for a vourcher for 90 minutes.

The hotel has a central location, quality of room, hotel and staff was very good and above all excellent value for money. Only one issue and this relates to payment for the rooms. Havng checked my online account have realsied that payment for the rooms had been taken twice.I Have spoken to the hotel and although they have no record on their system that this payment error was made, Thistle have said this will be investigated once I have scanned across a copy of my statement for proof of payment. No doubt this wont be an issue and reimbursement given once the error is looked into. Overall my stay was excellent and hope to stay in a couple weeks when I return to Manchester to settle my daughter into university.

The initial room price was attractive. My room was extremely cold because the large window didn't close properly & there were no radiators. The ncp parking, although discounted, was still extremely expensive at £17 per day. This was not made clear in the advertising.

Great location. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and the Arndale shopping centre. Very small room. One lamp & the safe didn't work but as we were only staying one night we didn't report them. We didn't book breakfast but when we arrived we were offered it at a special reduced rate of €10 each which we accepted. It was not worth the money. We would have got much better value at any of the many local cafes or bars. It was a very basic buffet with a very poor selection of breads etc. The croissants were the tiniest I've ever seen.

The hotel is in an excellent location and minutes walk from everything that you could possibly need. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us on our stay. They were incredibly friendly and helped us out on a number of occasions.. Including facilitating us when we arrived hours early.. They let us check in way before we were meant to and at no additional expense. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Manchester.. It is the best service I have ever received in a Hotel.. Friendly, professional and all at an excellent price. Our kindest regards and thanks to the staff in the Thistle Hotel on Portland Street We loved our stay

The portland was most probably the best hotel I have stayed in! It was not only an excellent location for the train station but also for shopping, restaurants and the arena. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay :) Our only negative about this hotel would be that the excellent condition of the room itself did not reach the bathroom. It seemed quite basic.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The rooms excelent and comfortable. Breakfast good with lots of choice. This hotel is also in the centre of Manchester near the station shops and all easy to get to. The room was to hot during the night but it was a really cold night outside.

The hotel is fine for a weekend break away the rooms are a little on the small side as is the bathroom, The best way to travel to this hotel is by train to Piccadilly station its close by only a short walk away But if your going by car try and check out over car parks before using the npc car park behind the hotel its very expensive rate £19.60 for 24hrs.the hotel does give its customs a £3.00 off voucher Question for this hotel why haven't they got there own car parking facilities for the size of the hotel,

Very convenient city centre location. Didn't like that they tried to charge us over 15 pound for breakfast for our small baby. When I explained that she would only eat less than a bowl of cereal there was no budge on the price. They sent us out in the freezing cold with small baby trying to get some breakfast. Definetely not family friendly hotel. Pool way too deep, and changing rooms not clean. Rooms small and pokey. Only saving grace were the restaurant staff who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
