When we arrived we were told we were being given the last room in the hotel, upon locating the room I realised this was a mistake. The room was on the roof level up some very steep stairs at the end of small winding corridors? The ceiling had patches of damp and was poorly decorated, there was no hot water, only one towel (in a twin room for 2) and no free wi-fi, as advertised. When we contacted the hotel staff about this, a girl on Reception told us there was nothing she could do about the room, or the wi-fi as they don't have the facilities to provide this, although she did acknowledge that they do advertise it is available. The second promised towel never arrived. We went out for a meal in the evening to a local restaurant but when we returned we found someone had been in the room through the hotel window, accessible from the flat roof, luckily nothing had been taken. When we informed the hotel, the same girl on Reception said she was surprised but she would leave a note for the manager!!! As we checked out other guests who had been attending a wedding were overheard saying that items from the wedding party were missing.

As a frequent hotel stayer, 7 in the last fortnight alone, most are usually a chore to stay at no matter what the stars indicate. Happy to say that Menzies Pinewood is the exception to the rule. One word; excellent, in every regard. Love to keep it a secret but that would be unfair of me to do so. Well done the Manager and the staff. Nothing, and it would be wrong to be picky. There are plenty of dross hotels out there that belie their star rating. Menzies Pinewood is not one of them, excellent.

Location good, plenty of parking, adequate room and the offer made it value for money. Bathroom clean and hot water plentiful. The reception staff when we booked in were less than welcoming. We ordered our food from in the bar in the evening. The food was of an extremely poor standard and seriously over priced. Following our complaint our charged was waived. Breakfast in the restaurant was of a poor standard and very basic in its presentation. Our main disappointment with this hotel was in fact the terrible state of the mattresses which certainly need replacing.

Staff were very helpful. Plenty of parking. Clean rooms and good quality fittings. I booked it partially because it had a restaurant and I wanted a business meeting meal on the evening. However the reataurant was not open on the night of my stay which was a big disappointment so we had to go out to a local pub. If the retaurant is cited in the details it should be open every night or the opening times stated.

Specifically requested a quiet , double room and went to the trouble of e mailing the hotel after the booking made to confirm my request . Needless to say I got a twin room right above the main entrance to the hotel and was then told that the hotel was full ! As a regular business traveller to this area I found that this hotel like so many others , is also blighted by the late arrival / early departure issue from Manchester Airport users . The room itself was tired - just like its occupant the next morning ! I was also left waiting to be seated in the restaurant area for 15 minutes with no staff around at all even though I had booked a table for a specific time . I took a chair in the end and sat in the entrance to the restaurant which must have looked mighty odd to the other 4 people who turned up and were also kept waiting .

Not a lot. Reception area was ok. Gardens were nice. Damp and mould in the bathroom. Black spot mildew on the ceiling to the bathroom bedroom was absolutely tiny and you could literally not swing a cat in it.

Friendly staff and comfy Bed Good Hotel and Friendly staff ,however first impressions are always important and we both noticed a musty smell when we entered the foyer area. This could easily be rectified by having fresh flowers and air fresheners about the foyer and reception area.

It seems to be in a period of transition following recent change of ownership. Much of the hotel is of high standard but there are signs of teething problems, the main one being a very noisy central heating system (I understand a new boiler had recently been installed). This kept us awake at night. Also, some much needed repairs were obvious E.g a broken bedroom window catch, which meant the window could not be fully closed. There was also confusion over payment. The acknowledgement on www.booking.com confirmed payment had been taken, but on arrival at the hotel, they confirmed (correctly) that payment hadn't been taken

The location is convenient for Wilmslow or Stockport The room we stayed in was noisy with either a boiler or air-conditioning system. The first night of our stay we couldn`t sleep because of the noise. We asked if we could change rooms but the receptionist said that all the rooms had that noise. Two of our party were given rooms that were already occupied, this could have been extremely embarrassing! When checking out a different receptionist said we should have been moved to a different room - but no discount was offered!

Cleanliness, excellent staff, breakfast was good; there should be instructions for operating room heating; access to the breakfast room is tricky. Access from the town is difficult for people without access to cars.

Good location, goos breakfast. Not too 'corporate' - it felt more personal. There really should be fee WiFi. It's very unusual to find a hotel with only the expensive bt Openzone. It costs you almost nothing!

Plesant staff , Lovely clean room.Very nice hotel. There was not a problem with this hotel at all......just the guest at a wedding that was being held there , lots of noise from children well after 11pm , guest returning to they room at 3am , if there awake then everyone will be awake. The staff at the hotel did try to keep the wedding party as quiet as possible , but the guest had other ideas. I just hope when I return it will be minus a wedding party.I Would recommend this hotel as I found it value for money

Location, thats the only thing thats good, but since you're not able to sleep, you'd be better staying in your car! Thin walls. Kept up all night by the bar and guests, this is backpacker style, this is not a best western!!! Bar closed at 1am, was woken again by cleaning staff again at 7am, reported to reception, same again the next day. Our room did not get cleaned, we were ignored by bar staff as we were not with the wedding on the first night. All in all, it would have been better to sleep in the car in the car park. I stay away 9 months of the year for work, only in 4 stars, this really lets the best western brand down, and i'd only rate it 2 stars backpacker style. If you want a good nights sleep, go elsewhere, anywhere!
