With modern, elegantly furnished rooms, The Royal Hotel is centrally located in the heart of Sutton Coldfield. This classic Georgian building still retains some of its original features.

Everything about this hotel was excellent from the friendly staff to the wonderful Resturant it was all a great and welcoming experience
From start to finish we had a relaxing hassle free stay. Check in took minutes, staff are all very friendly and polite - nothing is too much for them. We stayed in a classic double room which was very spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The pool and spa area are also sparkling clean, very relaxing and never overcrowded. Breakfast in the hotel started with continental help yourself, there was a wide variety.. Then you also have the option to choose a cooked breakfast from the menu which is freshly cooked and brought to your table - simply delicious. Although we didn't eat an evening meal in the hotel (as we decided to venture out) we did have an afternoon coffee which was served with shortbread biscuits and flapjack - a nice touch. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, very interesting with a lot of history.. Well worth a walk around one of the suggested routes to see the full extent. Overall a superb hotel, we would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!
Gardens, Exteriors, bed, room quality
Tired interior, confusing layout of lounge etc, overpriced drinks, no lunchtime opening of restaurants
A lovely place to stay.
The history, the step back in time. The food was excellent, a real treat, and the restaurant staff were excellent. Would like to have had the time to make more of the hotel and spa, maybe next time.
The price for drinks was quite high - or maybe I don't get out enough!
No wifi in the room - I went for a break, didn't want the world connected to my hand. Can't rate the staff enough, very friendly
Loved the hotel itself, cleanliness, facilities, food, but what made the stay even better were the staff, friendly, helpful, professional...they were just real nice people who made time for you even when very busy. In particular we would like to mention Bill, Pravas, Lisa, and Kay, they made our stay more like home from home rather than a one night stay. To the Management......employ more staff like these and everyone would want to stay at your hotels....and to whoever employed them....well done!!
Great breakfast, peaceful sleep in very luxurious room, friendly and professional staff
we had booked the best room in the hotel (Siris), nice room but it turned out that the fans of the kitchen two levels below where so loud that the whole room vibrated at times, we were relocated to a room not as spacious but charged the same rate
Good location and impressive surroundings. Comfortable room and helpful staff.
Our dinner was very poor. We paid top prices but not at all up to standard. The steak was over cooked and the chips cold. Fish was also overlooked.
Staff were great Classy hotel but not pretentious Quiet location not far from the city Grounds and building are lovely Attentiveness of staff Great cooked breakfast Afternoon tea and evening meals were good quality
Errr .... no feather duvet available...otherwise fantastic. Not enough treatments available at spa
Some of the staff were nice and the business events (except chasing down more coffee) were well planned and good fun. The rooms were lovely and cleaned well and the beds were comfy enough, great location and great grounds.
A few rude members of staff I stayed the night before work were all due to stay and I called reservations when I booked to see if I could stay in the same room for the following night and was told yes. I then checked in late at night and was told the man had sorted the problem and I could stay in there the following night as requested so not to move all my things but reservations hadn't sorted - this didn't happen and I was told to get out of that room and there was nothing that could be done. With a little attitude when I tried to explain two lots of people promised so I didn't pack up my things.
Friendly Staff, Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is Spotless, quiet, and luxurious. Kids are welcomed like family. Great place to wander around the gardens. Pool and Spa are great. Price was great, we moved from another well know hotel chain (the one with the pretentious daughter) because it was expensive and dirty, with poorly trained and managed staff. What a pleasure it was to find the New Hall nearby with 10 times the class and service for less money.
Couldn't Fault the hotel at all.
Friendly welcoming staff
Decoration looking a little tired and shabby
The most friendly polite staff I have seem
Staff, grounds, gym and spa
No wi fi
We were visiting our son in Birmingham. Found this hotel a haven of tranquillity, but close enough to the bustle of Birmingham. Were staying on a Sunday night, so no wedding etc, but loved everything about this hotel
Surroundings of this hotel are just fabulous. Hotel itself is 800 years old :)
Nothing at all
A beautiful historical hotel. Staff was excellent answering any questions
Dinner hour could start at 6:00PM
The staff were so friendly & couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was memorable.
The spa was fairly good, but not as many things to do as other spas, and choice at breakfast was good.
The staff were not very customer friendly. The receptionist never looked up when we were entering or leaving the hotel, and others (except breakfast staff) hardly acknowledged us. We were their for my 65th birthday but left not feeling we had had a 'special' 3 days away. Also the price of drinks were just ridiculous.
Loved the building and grounds. They are picture perfect and really worth going to. I have added a couple of service negatives buy the hotel is worth visiting despites those.
The big issue was that because there are so many wedsings, sometimes getting service was a bit hard to get. But really lovely otherwise. The service could be ever so slightly better. Rinko at reception was excellent at customer experience. The other lady was a bit embarrassing when we asked about a bill discrepancy.
Everything about newhall, the whole place is beautiful...when we drove up the drive it took my breath away. The staff are very friendly, couldn't do enough for you.Food was superb and our room was spotless and very comfortable.we loved the little extra touches like a poem every night left on our bed with weather forcast for next day.weekend i will never forget.
Having to check out and come back to the real world
