This was a very special weekend, my 50th (!!!) and my daughters 25th...... What a fabulous way to spend a family weekend. The beautiful hotel and surroundings, the very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. This was my second visit and both times have been a fantastic experience..... Thoroughly recommend a visit !!!!
There's nothing I didn't like at all, although I would recommend visitors to pre book the spa treatments as they were fully booked all weekend when we arrived on Saturday. Even though our room didn't have two dressing gowns and slippers to use to go over to the pool, the staff we're very helpful and efficient at bringing some up to our room straight away.
Staff were great, especially Bill !! Great Hotel with amazing historic connections. Fab Room, very comfortable. Good food Good spa Great grounds to walk around
Bar prices are a bit steep, but you are in a top hotel, so not really unexpected !
The staff were excellent. From Tony who gave us a guided tour of the Great Chamber, Kay on reception and Hubert in the fine dining restaurant who was a great host. The ambience and atmosphere of this historic hotel will ensure we return. The food was incredible too with Michelin star quality.
There was nothing to dislike apart from the fact we had to leave.
Everything ! Wonderful staff, so helpful and Bill is a Gem ! New Hall is a wonderful sight to behold and the history is amazing! Room was excellent and very comfy bed ! Can't wait to stay again !
Having to leave !
Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast.
Bed a bit small compared to ours at home but not a big problem
warm, comfortable and welcoming. Very nice breakfast.
I felt that the room could have been cleaner- dust and fluff on all the skirting boards. Having worked in hotel housekeeping, this is easily prevented by running a damp mop around the skirting boards regularly.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would like to say thanks to Bill.
The prices of food and drink. £12.20 for a Southern Comfort and Lemonade and a bottle of Cider. No draught beers available. I had the whole Sea Bass for dinner which for the price was not as tasty as it should have been.
Both my husband and I enjoyed the whole experience of our visit, we shall certainly be returning and recommending it to our friends.
Not being able to stay for any longer this time.
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were well appointed, clean and extremely comfortable. The hotel grounds are gorgeous - especially for a leisurely walk in the Autumn sunshine. We didn't get time to use the spa or other facilities but we have agreed that we would like to come back and spend a whole weekend break at the hotel.
Nothing we didn't like.
Facilities Staff Beautiful surrounding
Everything about this hotel was excellent from the friendly staff to the wonderful Resturant it was all a great and welcoming experience
From start to finish we had a relaxing hassle free stay. Check in took minutes, staff are all very friendly and polite - nothing is too much for them. We stayed in a classic double room which was very spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The pool and spa area are also sparkling clean, very relaxing and never overcrowded. Breakfast in the hotel started with continental help yourself, there was a wide variety.. Then you also have the option to choose a cooked breakfast from the menu which is freshly cooked and brought to your table - simply delicious. Although we didn't eat an evening meal in the hotel (as we decided to venture out) we did have an afternoon coffee which was served with shortbread biscuits and flapjack - a nice touch. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, very interesting with a lot of history.. Well worth a walk around one of the suggested routes to see the full extent. Overall a superb hotel, we would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!
Gardens, Exteriors, bed, room quality
Tired interior, confusing layout of lounge etc, overpriced drinks, no lunchtime opening of restaurants
A lovely place to stay.
The history, the step back in time. The food was excellent, a real treat, and the restaurant staff were excellent. Would like to have had the time to make more of the hotel and spa, maybe next time.
The price for drinks was quite high - or maybe I don't get out enough!
No wifi in the room - I went for a break, didn't want the world connected to my hand. Can't rate the staff enough, very friendly
Loved the hotel itself, cleanliness, facilities, food, but what made the stay even better were the staff, friendly, helpful, professional...they were just real nice people who made time for you even when very busy. In particular we would like to mention Bill, Pravas, Lisa, and Kay, they made our stay more like home from home rather than a one night stay. To the Management......employ more staff like these and everyone would want to stay at your hotels....and to whoever employed them....well done!!
Great breakfast, peaceful sleep in very luxurious room, friendly and professional staff
we had booked the best room in the hotel (Siris), nice room but it turned out that the fans of the kitchen two levels below where so loud that the whole room vibrated at times, we were relocated to a room not as spacious but charged the same rate
Good location and impressive surroundings. Comfortable room and helpful staff.
Our dinner was very poor. We paid top prices but not at all up to standard. The steak was over cooked and the chips cold. Fish was also overlooked.
Staff were great Classy hotel but not pretentious Quiet location not far from the city Grounds and building are lovely Attentiveness of staff Great cooked breakfast Afternoon tea and evening meals were good quality
Errr .... no feather duvet available...otherwise fantastic. Not enough treatments available at spa
Some of the staff were nice and the business events (except chasing down more coffee) were well planned and good fun. The rooms were lovely and cleaned well and the beds were comfy enough, great location and great grounds.
A few rude members of staff I stayed the night before work were all due to stay and I called reservations when I booked to see if I could stay in the same room for the following night and was told yes. I then checked in late at night and was told the man had sorted the problem and I could stay in there the following night as requested so not to move all my things but reservations hadn't sorted - this didn't happen and I was told to get out of that room and there was nothing that could be done. With a little attitude when I tried to explain two lots of people promised so I didn't pack up my things.
