The room was immaculate, the staff helpful, perfect experience

The Swimming Pool was good quite large Room was clean and comfortable. Although there were many people staying in the hotel as we found out at breakfast it was very quiet.

The heat in the hotel was terrible. The bathroom mirror was heated and never went off. Making the whole shower experience awful.

The cleaning staff constantly banging the doors whilst cleaning the rooms for over 2 hours prior to checkout time. Decision to cut the grass early on Saturday morning when it could have quite easily been left until 12 when checkout would have been concluded meaning less disturbance for guests

Very noisy as we were placed on the same floor as the wedding guests. Thin walls so you can hear the people next door conversations. Small beds, worse night ever. Poor for 4 star rated hotel. Premier Inn much better choice. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very dark and dated room 112 Air con unit outside window very noisy meaning no restful sleep No climate control in room which was very stuffy - couldn't open window due to noise Wifi access should be free this is just a way of fleecing the customer

The room and building in general were lovely. No complaints about the room itself. Very convenient for travel by car - less so by train. Well organised for the wedding. Staff very friendly.

Waiters had no idea about how to serve or clear tables. Silver service it was not! Dirty side plates put back down in front of diners to eat the wedding cake. Plates left in front of guests for half an hour. Certain meals arriving well after the rest of the table. The breakfast buffet left much to be desired. Food tepid and plates cold. Not worth £10 extra if booked night before and certainly not worth £16.50 the next day! Bath lethal as no rubber mat when showering. My partner fell and badly bruised his arm. It can only be described as nearly good but always just missing the mark.

They have a gymn and a spa, not very big and not very new but functional.

Old structure, old rooms, cleanliness not excellent. The position is on a roundabout, a few miles away from St Albans

Staff were very good, especially reception staff. The room was comfortable and the facilities were good.

The shower unit is difficult to understand and work - it needs some clear instructions on the wall

Water luke warm for bath at 8.45am (but complaint deallt with in the correct manner by deputy manager)

had to move rooms 3 times firstly due to noise levels then toilet did not flush

The staff were very helpful,pleasant and proffessional from booking to leaving, a real credit to the group. We stayed here on route to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and she was made to feel very special thus departing very relaxed before hand feeding Tigers?

Easy access to St Albans Restauant food was good and reasonable price for hotel. Rooms reasonable size Warm on a very cold weekend

It was so dark, tiny windows, dark carpet and furniture, lamps covered with shades making it even darker even during daylight time not a lot of light in the room. Windows yuck mildew galore

The facilities were amazing. Staff were lovely

Mascara on 'clean' towels No under cover smoking area. The horrid curtains all the way along the ground floor corridor, so chintzy/old fashioned and not in keeping with the rather stylish surroundings.

The stay was extremmly enjoyable. Room was a nice size, clean and decor pleasant. Food in the bar was nice and good value

There was a function at the hotel on the weekend we stayed and we were not aadvised. The resteraunt was closed for the function.

Finding a long grey hair in my breakfast, also the jacuzzi was not working bit disappointing !

Helpful staff. Small but comfortable family room. Good leisure centre.

Thistle Hotel had no record of my pre-payment but the Booking.com confirmation I received showed that payment would be collected on the day of booking. I now need to check my bank statement to find out whether or not Booking.com did take my payment.
