Old Mill Hotel & LodgeToll Bridge Rd, Batheaston, BA1 7DE Bath (Show map) Good, Score from 759 reviews“The senary was so pretty”
Lynda,
Swanley
Set on the banks of the River Avon, Old Mill Hotel & Lodge has lovely grounds and stunning views of the countryside surrounding Bath. It is located on a site that housed a flour mill until 1907. Since then it has been developed into an attractive hotel with fully refurbished rooms, a function room, a restaurant, bar and lounge. The rooms offer free tea and coffee facilities, cookies, mineral water and quality toiletries. Guests can also enjoy a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, and an ISDN telephone link. Il Mulino, the hotel’s riverside restaurant, has a unique waterwheel feature and panoramic views. The menu features local, fresh produce, and is also open to non residents. Between April and October a riverboat leaves 330 ft away across the bridge, and takes passengers into central Bath. Hotel Rooms: 35

When you make a booking online you never really know if you've made a good choice but this booking turned out to be a little gem. My sister and I only wanted somewhere to stay overnight but would gladly have spent more time at this lovely lodge. The location was so beautiful, very romantic if any honeymooners out there! - and the surrounding countryside, canal walks, Bath just a walk away (Bath is so beautiful and interesting) - well what more is there to want. The staff and service were good, our rooms clean and coffee, biscuits, etc provided. Lovely Italian restaurant attached to the Lodge which was very reasonably priced - we would gladly have stayed longer if we could. Would recommend and plan to visit again with friends. The staff was very friendly and accomidating. We have a daughter and when we arrived I realized that our room would not be big enough, they made the change to put us in a bigger room so that we were comfortable.

The rooms were fresh, clean, and modern. The location is amazing and your can catch a boat right into Bath. The location is peaceful, beautiful, and still close to town. There was no sign easily visable for the hotel, so it took a bit of searching to find.

The room was light with neutral decoration, clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the water. The power shower and jacuzzi bath were amazimg and made it a bit special. Very relaxed atmosphere would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family. Nice to find such a peaceful spot so close to bath. Shower went cold a few times which was a shock to the system!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and done out nicely. The view from breakfast was stunning. The fact that in the dark driving down the road you missed the hotel because the only words lit up were the italian restaurant bits. The carpark wasn't big enough! The wheeling of a bin across the car park at 6am! The prefabs looked out of place and were the first thing we saw when we pulled into the cdarpark.

Just a short distance from the City but therefore giving the parking that is necessary. Set in beautiful countryside with a lovely view of the river. The inhouse restaurant offers very good food at reasonable prices and very good service.

I was looking for an out of season place to stay for a short break that was near water, either by the sea or as the location of the old mill suggests a river that was within our price range. The photo of the mill on the booking .com site showed a perfect place for my girlfriend and I to be able to slow our pace of life and get to relax for a few days. The location was just perfect, the peace and quiet was to die for as both of us have quite high stress jobs. After the initial room that we were put in didn't have a second bedside table the manager (Gary) decided to move us to a slightly bigger room with double aspect windows overlooking the river which he didn't have to do, but did, and that was the start of a wonderful three nights away. We made an effort to get to know the staff which in turn makes you feel part of the "family "and they did make every effort to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It wasn't a 5 star Hilton hotel and the prices reflected this but all the same it was homely and clean and the hotels Italian restaurant which we ate in all three nights was second to none ( I recommend the spicy meatballs) and the hardy's red wine. The range of breakfasts from the full English, to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, through to help yourself cereals and 4/5 fruit juices, fresh tea and cafetière of fresh coffee.Such an idyllic place. To be able to wander along the river for miles, to be able to walk to Bath city if you wanted to........ We were given very good advice about getting into Bath by bus or taxi and not driving as it was of nightmare proportions to drive and park in bath so that was avoided. Some of the rooms were a little small,( but then you are only going to sleep in them ) made that way by the recent refurbishment but in doing so they had actually put in shower and toilet room that was big enough to swing a cat and possibly a dog in .... together , but you can't have it all ways it wasn't plastic like so many hotels so no there wasn't much I didn't like about the old mill and what I didn't like I can live with. What I would like to suggest though would be to get a bigger better selection of the piped music that was played in the hotel dining/lounge room as after the fortieth listening to the background music it became a little tedious.

Location, old mill hotel ,staff and service and wining and dining experience couldnt be faulted.Lovely surroundings and food on site quite resonably priced , would not recomend staying in a lodge, room was so tiny you had to squeeze past the bottom of the bed which made it awkward.we had to move anyway as the electric kept fusing..the hotel is on a toll road and the turning is so near to the toll rd booth if you miss the turning like we did ,apart from missing the turning you have to pay to go across and thenpay to come back which due to the layout of the country road and mad rush hour traffic it is hair raising to say the least very busy country road

The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings and offered lots of locations to walk. The staff were really friendly/helpful. Food was of good quality. The only downside was that the room did not represent the picture we had seen on the website (too small), staff did move us for last night free of upgrade charge. Parking was ok but not a lot of room. Building looks pretty.

The location beside the River Avon was idyllic but a riverside room is essential. The view from the dining room is wonderful, watching the waterwheel slowly rotate while eating breakfast. Buses into Bath are frequent and quick, and with a bus lane able to pass all the queueing traffic much better than using the car. We would not have liked it as much if we did not have a riverside room.

Hotel was friendly and welcoming. Bar and restaurant needs updating. Although the hotel rooms were at an excellent standard. The location was good but the entrance to the hotel was difficult to drive in and out of. It was a comfortable stay at the old mill hotel.

On arrival we were given a sheet telling us about local bus services, walking directions and taxi details for local area and visits into the city of Bath. We were also told to turn the shower on a couple of mins before we wanted to get in which would allow time for the hot water to come through..this worked really well. The views from the restaurant were lovely. Our bedroom was very posh. Breakfast wasvery good. Hotel was central to lots of Wiltshire and liked the fact that there was another two other pubs nearby. Excellent value for the proice we paid.

It was an easy location to get to. Very quaint position. Loved the working mill. I would have like to stay in the actual house, but the lodge was very comfortable, although not very attractive from the outside. I thought that the room was very cosy, once inside, and well equipped in every way. It was warm, clean, with provision for teas and coffees. The power shower/ was luxurious. The staff were very friendly, the evening meal was delicious, and very reasonable priced. I loved the panoramic view from the restaurant. The breakfast was was enjoyable, and more than we could manage. I would certainly use the hotel again and definately recommend others to use it. Thankyou!

I didnt realise when I booked that we would be ina separate building. We would rather have been in the hotel, but it was very nice and clean and everyone was very friendly. No complaints just would have liked to have been in the actual hotel.
