Thornbank Guest House  

The owners were very friendly and polite, helpful with advice of places to visit, places to eat . Nothing was too much trouble for them. The place was very clean and the breakfast was excelent. I would not hesitate to use this guest house the next time we are at Widermere. The location was about right located mid way between Windermere and Bowness.

Very clean, very welcoming, good breakfast, good advise of local area for both dining and walks, the booklet they provided on local walks and attractions was very helpful, very central but also quiet, and good parking facilities.

If I was to go again the only thing that would put me off is my wife mist a bath especially after a fulll days walking, also I would have liked a power shower, also I would probably choose a Hotel with a spa and gymn, and also some where to sit at night and enjoy a drink

Our stay at Thornbank guest house was more than we expected. The guest house was very clean and in an ideal location. The people that run the guest house where really friendly and helpful. I would recomend the guest house for value of money, friendly service and it is also in a perfect location between windermere and bowness.

The breakfast was excellent! But best of all were the owners, Mark and Jane, who would do anything they could to help you have a nice time.

Very friendly and helpful owners, and our room was very comfortable as well. The room, restaurant and other areas are clean and tidy. Breakfast was fantastic, a proper "English," with other options if you prefer something different. The Thornbank is in a good location, about half way between Windermere and Bowness, about a 10 minute easy walk either way. Only stayed for one night, but we would happily stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Thornbank. It was our first time visiting the lakes and the staff were so helpful with advising us where things were from the b&B. Very welcoming and comfortable staff and room. Immaculately kept. Breakfast was prompt and very tasty. A really good start to the day when you want to go walking around the beautiful lakes. It is situated right in between Bowness and Windermere, only 10-20 mins walk each way, so you get the best of both staying here. Already planning next visit and have recommended to all my friends and family.

This is the first guest house we have stayed at, the owners were wonderfull, helpfull friendly and very welcoming, the rooms that were used were very clean and well presented , breakfast was lovely and a good choice available would recommend this to anyone, location was ideal for walking to windermere or bowness, and a short drive to kendal for the men to have golf, siuted us very well

The b&b owners, Jane and Mark, were extremely friendly and welcoming upon arrival. They recommended a number of activities and a very nice restaurant to eat in that night. There were many options for breakfast including a good old bowl of tasty porridge. The location of the b&b is perfect, sitting at the south end of Windemere it's a very short walk into the heart of town and 5 minutes away from Bowness, the neighbouring town. Overall, a warm & cosy b&B.

Advertised free Wi-Fi is unusable in room 1. The network signal is too weak. I would suggest using a signal booster as Wi-Fi is a necessary feature for most travellers.

Everything was spot on from the minute we arrived Jane and Mark were very welcoming and nothing we requested was any trouble to them. As a keen runner I requested some information on specific routes and Mark was more than happy to oblige. We recommend this guest house and we will definitely be returning.

Very homely feeling at the same time extremely professionally managed by Jane and Mark the couple that own the guesthouse. Did not have even a single hiccup during the stay there
