What more could you want----comfy beds, excellent food, friendly and welcoming hosts, views of the fells, red squirrels, call of the curlews. The 'extras' in the bedrooms add a touch more.
Friendly owners & attention to detail
Friendliness of Nick and Zena, plus excellent breakfasts, lovely quite location - brilliant rooms and comfortable bed. Couldn't fault the place.
That we couldn't stay longer
Zena & Nick were lovely, room was a bit of luxury. Large bed, comfortable room. Breakfast fantastic. We had an early start but Zena was very accommodating by serving the full breakfast early for us. Nicks bread was lovely.
Friendly, cosy, excellent standards throughout
Very welcoming and good food
Zena and Nick where perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is great but the quality of the accommodation and the attention to every detail from the chocolates in the room, to the homemade conserves at breakfast, the golden-yellow free range eggs etc etc. I could go on - every aspect was five-star
Our stay at Thorneymire Barn couldn't have been better and made for the perfect weekend hideaway. The setting is stunning with fantastic views, the rooms are cosy and immaculate and the hosts are extremely attentive catering for all your needs, while leaving you to enjoy the peace and quiet. The breakfast was a great start to the day. The homemade muesli is a must and the sausages not to be missed! We will definitely be back. Thanks Zena and Nick!
If you are considering staying here, all I can say is BOOK IT! You won't regret it :)
A superb location for a weekend break. A beautiful bed and breakfast and very friendly and informative. Would highly recommend it.
Unable to walk to a pub!
lovely comfortable room and very friendly people.
nothing to dislike.
if you wanted attention or advice, you got it, if you just wanted to be left alone you got that, the breakfast was great, no expense spared, Simon and Jane where so funny, and had a great out look on life,
Nothing. It was truly perfect!
Spotlessly clean. Chocolates, fruit and flowers in room. Tea and cake on arrival. Massive undescribably comfortable bed. Peacefulness. Delicious homemade breakfast. Lovely owners.
Everything,lovely breakfast ,perfect b&b thankyou .
Could not fault anything about our stay at Thorney Mire Barn
The hosts cannot do enough to ensure you have everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable break. The rooms are modern and spotlessly clean and Jane is a great cook so the meal in your room is definitely a must! The gardens are peaceful with great views of the countryside. Not far from Hawes if you fancy a wander by car or by foot on the public footpaths and some great walks nearby.
Quiet location with nice views. Comfy bed. Great breakfasts. Friendly hosts. Spacious room with private garden patio seating area.
The proprietors were too willing to please. It was their home we were in. We did not like having to use the top floor without easy means of access for a suitcase.
The venue is clean and well kept with premium quality cutlery, crockery and other too many creature comforts. The food was excellent. The hosts were most welcoming.
Simon and Jane are very, very good at what they do. Every aspect of our stay was faultless, from the warm welcome to the luxury and comfort of our room to the extraordinarily good food... and all in a secluded setting in a beautiful part of the world. Our hosts were friendly and attentive without being intrusive; they're extremely knowledgeable - and passionate - about the area, and can tell you pretty much anything you need to know about local attractions and facilities. However, as rewarding as it is to explore the locality, you'll find it difficult to drag yourself away from the house and its impressive surroundings - especially when there's the option of a mind-bogglingly tasty home-cooked evening meal, served in your room. Ours involved a good many local products (some from Simon & Jane's own garden) and it was off-the-scale delicious, as were the different breakfasts we had each morning, with a view out onto the garden and its visiting squirrels. (In fact the breakfast deserves a review of its own, with its home-made muesli, home-baked breads, home-made jams, home-made blueberry muffins, Olympic-sized locally-sourced cooked breakfast and Aga-cooked porridge, to name only a few of the options). The attention to detail at Thorney Mire Barn is amazing, but at the same time it's a homely and welcoming place; there's nothing generic or stuffy about it. I have no idea how the hosts manage to appear so relaxed and engaging whilst putting on such a seriously top-notch service. 10 out of 10; we'll definitely be back.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Excellent facilities and staff extremely friendly. It couldn't have been better.
Unfortunately, you couldn't quite organise the sunshine for us, but you gave it a very good try with your sunny dispositions!
Everything! Very spacious and comfortable rooms with large comfy beds. Constant hot water in the ensuing bathrooms. Very good facilities for people with disabilities or mobility issues. Thought has been given to every reasonable need with the provision of lots of little extra touches. Wonderful breakfasts every day and evening meals on request. All produce home grown, home made and home cooked to a very high standard. Excellent. Above all, the welcome was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Jane and Simon. They were excellent with my elderly parents and were always on hand to offer advice on suitable places to go, the daily weather forecast or a funny story. Would happily recommend and revisit in the future. A luxury B & B with owners who go the extra mile. Well done and thank you.
It looked much larger in the pictures. There were no real views from bedroom as expected. The owners were overly attentive and talkative to the point that you felt your privacy intruded upon and unable to relax (or even eat your breakfast!) - this defeated the point of going there.
Good facilities, nice touches in room eg chocolates, cake on arrival, dressing gowns, very clean, good range of food.
Nowt as they say in those latitudes.
The whole experience
The food, service, hospitality and the little extras. Cakes on arrival, chocolates and fruit in the room. Cordial, water and milk in fridge.
Jane and Simon are perfect hosts, helpful in every way; excellent breakfasts, excellent recommendations for local activities and restaurants + Yorkshire Dales area was enjoyable to visit
