Pretty house with sheep grazing in pasture in front; Excellent breakfast; Comfortable room; NB- the eccentric proprietress has about 5 or 6 cats that she is very devoted to, but the house is still very clean and comfortable
It was supposedly stated on website as animal friendly Didn't plan for a 'cattery' in a village called 'Catton' Should have known So when I rang explaining I had asthma she seemed to understand my condition & why I must cancel But as soon as off the refused to refund, very selfish, not very understanding and damn right sneaky Very upset with this MS
Eileen, our host, although still recovering from a recent hospital visit, was very welcoming upon our arrival and provided tea/coffee before introducing us to the cats/lions. Room comfortable and breakfast was delicious and plentiful. If you want something unusual for breakfast (ie kippers) you need to give Shirley some notice).
-The breakfasts -The friendly, hospitable welcome -The unique decor and interesting artefacts from all around the world -The host's interesting stories and excellent conversation -The room was large and very comfortable -The scenery in the surrounding area is stunning.
-Having to leave.
Spacious rooms. Very nice grounds. Excellent breakfast. Interesting host. Many cats.
Hard to find.
The housekeeper was lovely and cooked a lovely breakfast.
The house is literally someone's house and the owner sleeps in a room close to guests. The house and room decor is very old and reminiscent of staying at a great grandmas house in the 1970's or 80's. Decor in general as well as being old was not to my taste. 1980's yellow and green bathrooms. The house has many cats, whilst I quite like cats, I don't want them in my room or pooping in the shower (which happened). For the price I found it very poor value for money.
Enjoyed a lovely relaxing break at this B & B. We were aware of the cats before booking and this was one of the reasons for staying here. The cats are great - very friendly and if you want one (or two) in your room, they will be delighted. The room itself was large and comfortable and the adjoining bathroom was cosy and felt like a home from home. The breakfasts were wonderful - fresh fruit and yogurt, full cooked breakfast, fresh orange juice, homemade bread. Eileen made us feel very welcome and my husband enjoyed playing the piano too. Hope we can go back before too long.
Have stayed in much better standard places for same or less money. In addition web site said cats in main area but cats have complete run of house and have marked each room. Even a cat loving owner of cats in party was not impressed.
The "safari" in the garden The animals The welcome
Friendliness and welcoming of owner, with a choice of evening dining that you would not expect out in the country
Everything 5 star
I was given access to a Steinway grand piano, which the owner let me play during my stay. Very good.
People attending the house, speaking a lot of languages includiing an excellent Italian. A lot of animals, mainly cats. Quiet and near to everything interesting in the Adrian wlaa
Loved the peace and quiet. Lovely place and only 10 mins from the pubs.
It was all fine.
Individual house and garden
Eileen gives you the royal treatment from the moment you arrive. With a lavish breakfast, full of surprises - home made jams, fresh squeezed juices, rasberries from her beautiful garden, which is a world to itself. She provides a "Safari" map to explore the gardens and fields surrounding the house. Near the very comfortable living room - in case the weather is bad - there is the music room with a Steinway Grand and an audiance of 5 cats and two very quiet donkeys in the meadow. She also provided us with a map of the area for hiking. Since she is an avid traveller her house is a show case of interesting sculptures, pictures and other reminders from places all over the world. Our room was very efficiantly furnished, quiet and with a wonderful view onto the garden. We were very happy there.
.Friendly and welcoming host. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful garden and cats were a delight.
Quirky, comfortable, generous surroundings. Comfortable beds. Fascinating hostess. Great breakfast. Lovely cats. Quiet. Many interesting things to look at, read and enjoy. We will recommend it to our animal loving friends.
There was nothing at all we didn't like but if you are not a cat lover this isn't the place for you.
The cats were a laugh. Got everywhere. Bed was fine, breakfast was great, other guests were fine, hosts were really friendly.
The entrance was not obvious, sign could do with an arrow, plus a name plate at the end of the driveway. It's a 5-way junction, and my Garmin SatNav got the wrong side.
cats and breakfast
Beautiful location, lovely rooms, use of lounges.
Shirley did a splendid job running the place while Eileen was away on Holiday. The welcoming atmosphere.made us feel like we was visiting a family member. Since we love cats, this was the perfect spot for us.
Cats and garden. Fantastic breakfast
