Beautiful location. Old part of hotel has lovely character.
Room very far away from reception and was very small. Room was definitely not up to grade 4 standard.
Refreshing to be greeted with smart, helpful and friendly reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel has a lovely atmosphere about it, comfortable and relaxing yet alive at the same time. Plenty of parking available. We are staying again shortly. A venue of choice.
Really friendly, helpful staff. Liked the buildings / hotel and leisure centre.
Spa Smoked haddock at breakfast...very well cooked
I was staying in Thornton hall for a wedding. Lovely hotel and location. Good staff and was happy to be changed from a twin room to a double as requested before my arrival.
Too expensive for what it is. Room quite basic.
Would not stay here again it is not value for money 360 for a two night stay room was a superior double and it was no different then a standard double only balcony was different staff was not very nice made a point of running over to me at breakfast in front of all my family to make the point that breakfast wasn't included with my stay when I only went down for a bottle of water and to say goodbye so rude would not stay here again
The facilities are excellent and the hotel is in very pleasant grounds in a countryside location. The staff were helpful and the service was efficient.
It was ok at best
Unclean room , unfriendly receptionist , dated carpet in rooms , can only pay cash for room service !? And they tell you at the room once they have brought it already ..
Spa fantastic. Food good
Room old and tired noise from room above so not much sleep was due to stay 2 nights but checked out after 1
Spa facilities Superior room Breakfast Grounds
Allocated wrong room type and had to query this with reception the next day. When checking out we were charged for the higher price for the room we didn't get on the first night. Had to ask for the adjustment to be made. Initial room had dust webs Poor mattress when compared to upgraded room Located next to noisy plant room with constant background noise Policy of not being able to use the Spa after 11am on day of departure seems restrictive when we expected to be able to have a relaxed Sunday using the Spa but had to pay extra or leave the Spa by 11am.
Staff were great, food was good, lovely pool and outdoor hot tubs & loungers. Great location for merseyside and even Manchester business. Very relaxing stay despite having work to do!
Having to work while I was there & having to leave!
location room size breakfast
room wasnt available on check in no safe in room very stale odour in the room near the tea/coffee making area
Great location Set in lovely grounds Free WiFi in rooms Great facilities
The location and grounds were good.
The quality of the decor and repair of some areas of plasterwork and ceilings was poor. Apart from the main reception I would describe the hotel as shabby.
close to where I was visiting
a little to pricey
Waited 30 mins for drink order to be taken at the bar after being told someone will be right over!!! Poor service
Room - great. Bathroom - great. Breakfast and dinner were superb. Lawns Restaurant evening and breakfast managers were outstanding. Lawns Restaurant food overall was - Fantastic. All staff could not have been more helpful throughout our stay.
A terrifically noisy wedding party under our balcony - not the fault of the hotel. Luckily disco stopped around midnight/1am - but swearing in loud voices & singing continued until 3am - not the fault of the hotel but not a restful sleep after a 17hour journey.
hotel itself was lovely
very poor service from staff
Breakfast via room service - Food was cold
Staff friendly, very nice decor, good ambience.
£9 per glass of house wine is unjustifiable.
Staff were really friendly and helpful Food was excellent Gardens amazing and lovely to have a drink outside
Had to upgrade in order to be able to have a room that had air conditioning. With this weather or when humid it is really hot in the hotel......can see it is an old building but if we hadn't upgraded it would have not been so great.
The spa was excellent. Breakfast was good. Staff were very helpful.
Had to remind three members of staff before our tea/coffee was brought go to us at breakfast. The gardens would benefit from more colourful planting. Hated the regimental planting leading to the summerhouse.
All the facilities were excellent.really comfortable and relaxing surroundings..only thing that let it down were breakfast.not enough food and you had to ask for things that you had paid for, that should have been given to you for your breakfast.other than that was really enjoyable stay and ee would stay again.
The grounds and the facilities especially the outdoor jacuzzi The staff were excellent
Loved the out side hot tub
The prices of the treatments and also the rooms they was out dated
