Price was excellent for the location and standard of room
I enjoyed my two day stay immensely. The staff were welcoming and very friendly, the room was immaculate with every comfort and I will definitely return again!
I cannot fault this establishment
Nothing get ripped off with a no refund booking policy
Very friendly welcome by Phil and his staff. Great food at a good price Log fire Very quiet Look forward to staying again
Friendliness of staff Comfortable bed, not hard Room Would recommend
Nothing springs to mind, pleasant country pub
Feeling comfortable with the staff when requesting info, needs etc. Friendliness. Good home cooked food and bread to die for. Being in a block away from the pub so no noise.
Could hear movement upstairs woken at 6.am because of this.
Overnight stay after wine tasting at Chilford. Room was lovely, clean and tidy with en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities. A traditional pub with staff that made you feel extremely welcome, nothing was too much trouble!
If you're visiting IWM Duxford it's a great location to stay at as it's close by. The guest bedrooms are located seperately from the pub/restaurant at the end of the car park.Comfortable bed and good size bedroom and en suite bathroom. Excellent, full English breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
WiFi reception was very poor in the bedrooms and almost impossible to obtain a signal.
Arrangement for accessing our room immediately on our arrival. Our host was very attentive to our needs, providing an excellent meal for us in the early evening assuring that we were comfortable in our room and giving us a superb breakfast at a time which suited our departure exactly.
No Food on a Monday evening the night when most travelling on business need it. Not cheap pub food and not good quality either.
Friendly staff and good food/breakfast. Real value for money.
Noise of the waterpump. Whenever someone showers the 4 rooms in the block could hear that. Fortunately it was only the two of us there.
Everything, landlord and staff were very helpful, rooms spot on
Friendly very welcoming. No footpath for evening walks. Accomadation was very good.
Already mentioned we like a stroll after dinner it was too dark.
Meals were good. Pub was quaint. Mine hosts were very friendly an helpful.
Wifi worked in bar but not in rooms. Good wifi is quite important these days!
Lovely little pub in a quiet village close to M11
Internet did not work. Water pump was noisy.
modern room in separate block
Attitude of manager/owner. When I booked I received an email from you confirming that no payment would be taken until we ended our stay. I opted for paying full rate then giving opportunity to cancel I did not need to but had the worst of both worlds. I paid up front at the full, not discounted, rate. When queried I was curtly told that was the way they did things, contrary to your information sent to me..I did receive a discount on our food bill but object to paying upfront when I opted not to.We had to pay cash for dinner on Saturday,it was not a very good menu and poorly served. None was available on Sunday. Breakfasts were just an English breakfast, nothing else offered. Did not, like the overall attitude, a pity as room was OK. Will not be returning
The Inn is brilliantly located in a quiet little villagejust a few minutes off the M1. The staff are friendly and accomodating, and the food is good, hearty pub fare. Having the rooms located in a separate block to the pub is a bonus. The waterpumps in the rooms were not nearly as noisy as some reviewers have made out and they certainly didn't get in the way of a good night's sleep. And it meant the water pressure in the shower was really good. All round great experience! I'd definitely recommend it.
The converted barn accommodation out the back (not above the pub). Great location especially if like us you are visiting Chilford hall. Helpful and lovely staff (+all the locals; Inc. taxi driver). Great food (esp. the Pies). Very clean.
Early check out (but it was ok). Water pump to the barn is a little noisy.
Location. Pretty room. Good decor.
Noisy water pump, broken shower head and dusty room. Main lampshade tatty.
The location. An ideal spot to use as a base to explore the local villages.
The sound of the guests in the room above. The floor creaked everytime someone moved and you could join in their conversations, if you so wished. Oh, and the plumbing is very noisy. Overpriced for what's on offer.
Clean comfy bedroom with lovely warm bathroom. Quiet relaxing spot just ten minutes from Saffron Walden. Would recommend to travellers.
Staff were excellent, helpful & friendly. Food fresh & taste. If you are looking for a very quiet break this is the place. Nearest shops 2miles away. If in the area again would definitely stay again.
Water pump noisy, but not a lot can be done about that if you want good water pressure in shower etc.
The location was rural, with lovely villages nearby. As a city dweller, this was a real treat. The landlord's Wednesday special of fresh cod & chips with peas was delicious.
The friendliness of the staff. The excellent steak we both had in the pub/restaurant.
Terrible noisy plumbing really was a problem with using it yourself or by a neighbouring room.
Very nice helpfull Landlord Clean quiet rooms. Lovely breakfast and dinner Nice possibilleties for walks in the area. The kids loved the donkeys next door.
