Surrounded by beautiful Gwent countryside, the Olway Inn overlooks a pretty trout stream, and is a 10-minute walk from central Usk. The inn features a traditional restaurant and leafy beer garden.
Score from 170 reviews Excellent
In the centre of the picturesque town of Usk in Monmouthshire, The Crosskeys Inn offers a traditional pub and a pleasant patio with tables and chairs.
Score from 86 reviews Very good
Dating back to 1180, this hotel was originally a Cistercian monastery. It has a fantastic à la carte restaurant, and is situated in secluded grounds in the historic town of Caerleon, on the River Usk....
Score from 257 reviews Very good
Offering an la carte restaurant, The Castle Inn is located in Usk. It has free Wi-Fi access available throughout.
Score from 40 reviews Good
Staff very helpful, courteous, efficient. Hotel parking very good. Access to Usk town excellent.
some rooms up a lot of winding stairs, not easy for the elderly or not so nimble. Very busy through traffic through the town - visitors need to be wary when crossing the roads and aware that some small lanes and roads which appear to be pedestrian thoroughfares are in fact roads.
Good quality and choice of food. Attentive staff. Comfortable Bed.
Bathroom a little shabby, cold bath tap not working properly. Shower and toilet seat needed replacing.
Ambience, friendly staff, clean rooms with good facilities.
Breakfast didn't start until late on weekend
Service was good
Low standard of maintenance in the room , in particular the cold water tap which only trickled , not enough hand towels , no extras in room for the price charged eg. gowns.
very comfortable bed nice and clean throughout breakfast excellent along with service
nothing although some reviews we read stated traffic noise it really did not affect us and we slept very well.
Location, clean ,lovely beds, lovely morning staff in dining room.Nicely furnished .
Plumbing, flushes didn't work, bathroom door would not shut in my mums room and the latch on bedroom door was faulty. Staff in bar lacking in training. Morning manager quite rude. No 'did you enjoy your stay' or Thankyou. When we pointed out the couple of problems he was dismissive.
Design features. Car parking. Garden. Proximity to where I needed to be.
Pretentious overall. Illusions of significance. Over-priced. Soggy bread under eggs for breakfast, unappetising, unimaginative. Cocky familiar person officiating breakfast scene. Called me 'My lady' ! And connived with others / totally unprofessional. TV debacle, 1st response to complaint ie no TV remote was that the previous person must have taken it - later as they replaced the new faulty TV found that it wasn't working....a covering backside comment then. Had to search for someone (in the bar) for reception on arrival.
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING !! The staff were very friendly and helpful ..and amusing ! We booked a superior double room, but while travelling they called us to say they only had a standard double available, which was fine, as the standard room was very spacious, clean and had everything we wanted. The location was brilliant too .... would definitely go back !!
The room was comfortable
On the hot day we stay the room was extremely hot
Room too hot! Please leave the windows open during the day.
garden and restaurant quite nice.
Bed very soft, décor in room and bathroom dated, noisy floorboards everywhere. £100 expensive for quality.
The main hotel is lovely, great staff and very clean.
We stayed across the road in the coach rooms. The bed was comfy, but the room was tired. Needs a good clean and a lick of paint. Didn't think it was worth £100 a night.
Staff helpful (particularly the head waiter at breakfast)
Some areas look tired. Rooms should be a bit cheaper for what is offered
Service was excellent, both during dinner and at breakfast. Young staff, very friendly and attentive. Booked for one night after seeing their dinner menu online. Was not disappointed. Food was excellent, and we tried the recommended wine with each course as well. For the standard of food, price was VERY reasonable. My boyfriend, who's a bit of a foodie, hasn't stopped talking about it. Although in the centre of town, we were given a quiet room over the road from the hotel which looked out on a lovely walled garden.
Room was a bit dated but saying that, it still had everything you needed.
Good food; comfortable room; pleasant staff.
Squeaky floor in bedroom - but then what does one expect in a 300year-old building?!
Restaurant service a little slow at times but not a major problem. Room a little small but comfortable and not much time spent in room other than for sleeping so again not a major problem
close to a venue where we were going for a family celebration
We were in the annex and the door to the outside was not always secured properly. Also no remote control in room. When we were out we found a member of staff showing someone into our room by mistake! my handbag was on the bed!
Some of the staff were really helpfull and cheerful
The morning staff were not so cheerful.
We liked the location being central to the town.
We thought that the price per night was high and we would have expected an evening meal included. A quiet room was requested. It was situated on the back of the hotel but looked out on a large kitchen extraction unit which was very noisy even with the windows closed.
Very attentive and efficient staff created a pleasant relaxed atmosphere.Very good evening meal.
Bar was a bit rowdy (Saturday) Just a few housekeeping problems.
restaurant for evening meals and breakfast, and Bar. Comfortable room
Food was fantastic
The disco that kept us awake most of the night.
Couldn't fault the staff - everyone we met was excellent and very helpful and friendly. Food was very good too. Bar had a nice atmosphere and the fact that there was a wedding being held at the hotel had little impact on non wedding guests.
the noise that came through the ceiling from the room above - sounded like a herd of elephants walking about. We had requested a quiet room so I wouldn't like to try one of the non-quiet rooms! Bed uncomfortable and room/ensuite a bit tired
The staff were friendly, breakfast was good, great choice
The bedroom we were allocated was in a building across the road from the main hotel. The décor was tired looking, shabby and the room did not smell that pleasant either, an odour of dry sweat. It was situated over the front entrance and every time someone entered the door banged shut! I should have mentioned the issues I had on leaving but the booking was only for the one night and what would it have achieved?
