The hotel staff were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner was excellent, fresh ingredients and cooked to order. The hotel should make more of their high standard of cuisine in their marketing.

On arrival, the staff appeared friendly and extremely welcoming. The hotel was spotless, our room was spacious, well set out and warm. Throughout our stay, we felt almost part of the family and were informed of local events, which we were invited to attend. The evening meal was absolutely fabulous, the breakfast fantastic, proper bacon, not the thin fatty type! We did not use all the facilities; but fully intend to go again soon where we make use of the sauna, spa etc. A wonderful place to spend New Year's Eve.

Friendly staff, comfortable rooms Lack of WiFi. There is very poor mobile reception in the area so for business users this is essential. A specific request to reception has to be made if an outside line from bedroom telephones which is inconvenient.

Size of room. Quality of food although fish was good. Breakfasts very poor. Views from bedroom spoiled by caravans and aerials. Presence of railway line in full view of hotel. Overpriced and poor value for money.

Mine was a short visit - a late arrival and an early departure - but the staff were very friendly and the service excellent.

The welcome and friendliness of the staff, and willingness to help.I could see the sea from my room, and the bed was very comfortable. problems were sorted straight away, except for the remote control for the TV. I presume the last guest had gone off with it! It was great to have the pool and gym, and I managed to find a time when I could have the pool all to myself. The sceenery around was lovely. Wish I could have stayed longer!

It's a long time since I slept so well in a hotel - despite a wedding going on I heard nothing once in my room. The bed was huge and very comfortable too. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble - they always seemed one step ahead of us, almost providing what we wanted before we knew that we wanted it! Fantastic place - highly recommended.

Helpful staff. We booked to attend a wedding and needed to check in early to get changed. They made sure a room was ready for us well before official check in time. Arrived back very late in the evening to find the doors all locked. Only managed to get back in because staff were just leaving for home. No notice of warning that this might be the situation.

The room, hotel location and the view Restaurant was deserted on Saturday nightapart from my wife and I - lacked any atmosphere Food was ok but not gourmet. Breakfast had been kept warm too long and had dried out. Our request for poached eggs was only begrudgingly acceded to

The hotel was quiet and location next to the sea was what we wanted. Swimming pool was good but see comments below. Hotel staff were very good, nothing was a problem when we asked for things. The spectator area in the swimming pool was dangerous with broken seat and old heater abandoned in the area. Some aspects of the hotel were 'tired' looking and in th egames area and bar there was a bit of a musty smell. Radiator in our room was rusty!

Staff were friendly and helpful. We booked the hotel last minute so I think they must give the rooms with a view to the first bookings, although our room was very clean and large it was warm and looked out onto a fire escape. I think the hotel could do with an update in the decor.

Love the Staff and friendliness. The Food/Menu Hasnt changed in 4 years. Really need to be updated and the meals thought out, eg. you do not want carrots, parsnips, peas and roast potatoes with Gammon Egg and Chips.

The service was very polite and friendly I was disappointed with the room which was facing a brick wall, had constant noise from the spa generator, a stained carpet, cobwebs, uncomfortable bed, no tv remote and a 20 year old shower with poor water pressure.

“I found the Spilman staff to be quite hospitable and attentive to my needs (particularly as I was a visitor from the US, and much less relaxed a traveler than in my youth!). The food was excellent, and my room was comfortable and quiet. I would unreservedly recommend the Spilman to anyone, regardless of origin point!” Peter, Edison |
