Location is great breakfast a bit pricey so went to weather spoons next door. Free parking for guests, stayed many times and will again.
There's nothing i can fault this hotel on.

Could not log on to free wi-fi
Fantastic and great value for money
Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Nice and warm. Lovely walk in shower. Very good food.
Difficulties with the building works going on but we coped oaky thanks to the staff.
Layout of rooms and quietness of surrounding areas.
Extensive work ongoing to outside access areas spoilt the overall enjoyment.
Our room was very spacious, well decorated, and had everything we wanted (I have a mild obsession about kettles, irons etc, so this fact is significant to me). The breakfast was lavish. The bar was welcoming and well stocked (despite our best efforts to drink it dry).
I thought had booked a 4 poster bed room with Booking.com. I don't know who got this wrong (Booking.com, the hotel, or me) but we didn't get one. The room we did get was super though so I wasn't that bothered. The coffee in and out of the room was UNDRINKABLE. This was the opinion of everyone I met who tried it. This is not uncommon in hotels but it has to stop soon, surely!
The staff are all lovely, keen and helpful. My room on the top floor of the Conference building was spacious and very well appointed. Ironing board, safe, White Company toiletries. Fab, huge red armchairs and a powerful shower. Very quiet too, considering we're in the middle of a market town. And a lovely touch: there's one socket which doesn't switch off when you remove the room key so you can leave something on charge while you're out at dinner.
Major building work going on when I stayed, so a temporary restaurant but no one warned me (plastic café tables and chairs and paper place mats) but more seriously, as they're re-laying the cobbles in the courtyard, it was always muddy and you had to pick your way through, a different route each day. My shoes were a real mess on departure. Also my breakfast was served in the conference building alongside conference delegates, so not peaceful. And the breakfast wasn't freshly cooked so not what I expected. But once the building work is completed, I'm sure it will be terrific. They should have closed while it was going on though.
nice location plenty to eat round about nice food in bar and very nice room
shower was very very poor and parking a nightmare booked thurs via booking, com needed day before so booked direct got a price asked to upgrade next night was charged 80.10 no breakfast next night same price with breakfast but had to leave at 6am food was nice but when told about shower was just told oh i will make a note no sorry about that, no did you enjoy your stay wont be staying here again in a hurry
Lunch and our room was great. Bar staff also very good.
Noise on the street and from local pubs.
Friendly staff, good location, good facilities, good food.
layout facilities and bar were great. Food and drink were good. Room layout, and facilities good.Staff good
unable to get any sleep, due to creaking pipes, water rushing through pipes, room temperature uncomfortably hot. Town center location, church bells from just across road and traffic just outside room window.
As above and would stay again if in area
Being woken at 8.15am Sunday morning by bar staff emptying bottles into recycling bin! Room poorly serviced one morning however problem was quickly dealt with when reported
Easy parking; plenty of spaces. Nice bar with lovely open fire. My room was quiet despite town centre location, so got a good nights sleep.
good for the money
Comfortable bed, good sized room away from the road.
Room a little stuffy, duvet too hot
Convenience and comfort
Great stay, very good location , staff very nice
very poor wifi
Room dated but hotel undergoing a makeover
The bed The breakfast The wifi
Fittings a bit old fashioned No butter at breakfast without asking
Right in the town centre but because the rooms are in a separate unit at the rear of the hotel there was no noise interference. Excellent breakfast choices and a good bar. Comfy rooms.
Staff, room, location
No apparent heating in bathroom.. Massive disappointment was the lack of beers and bar snacks and bacon, hash browns and black pudding at breakfast - apparently due to missing delivery.
Room good standard, clean Breakfast good, restaurant standard hotel fare
Rooms spread out in different buildings, walk in the cold from room to restaurant
Good central location
Signage around hotel could have been better
Fantastic old coaching inn full of character!
Parts of the hotel are only accessible via stairs, including the restaurant. BUT, if you let them know about any guests with mobility problems they can serve you with breakfast downstairs in the conservatory.
the staff were lovely and the food is good
the hotel is very dated and needs a refurb. the bedrooms are very tired, and the bathrooms need a modernising
