Room was ok
Whole place in need of refurb Staff forgot our order our breakfast after taking order, reminded twice, then had to go back twice as didn't feel it was cooked properly. Took 2 hours!
The accomodation was compact, but good, and the room was clean.
The attitude of the staff was very poor. The food in the restaurant was also very poor. I had booked a table for the night of our arrival, because on our last visit, the restaurant was very popular. We were the only people in there this time. Our friends had beer battered fish and chips, and my wife and I had the steak deal. The fish batter was soggy and not cooked, my steak was very chewy, and my wife’s steak was almost all fat and gristle. But, worse than that, the waitress, holding the plate with a napkin, handed my wife her plate, burning her fingers. The staff were not concerned, and I had to administer some burn gel from my car first aid kit. For desert, our friends opted for the three scoop ice cream, and we opted for the plumb crumble. I ordered one with custard, and my wife ordered one with ice cream. The three scoop ice cream came with two strawberry, and one chocolate, and my wife’s crumble came with Strawberry ice cream. When we asked, we were told that they had run out of vanilla ice cream. Then they said the crumble wasn't Plum, it was in fact Rhubarb. The crumble has been over microwaved, and was well and truly stuck to the bowl. For the bad meal, we were offered a free coffee..... Then there was breakfast. This was good, but they had run out of mushrooms. On the Sunday morning, we were the first to order, and our breakfast was good, although my wife’s scrambled egg looked lost on the plate. Then we found out why, they had run out of eggs. The rest of the guests had breakfast without eggs. The chef, talking to one of the regulars at the bar, was proudly proclaiming how he had worked hard to gain his qualifications over the last year, and how he had brought the food in the restaurant up to a high standard. Then he said that they had a meeting with the new owners at the end of August, but that he wouldn’t be staying there.
Potentially a nice old building but in dire need of refurbishing.
Room not ready. Dirty stair carpet. Tired furnishings. Breakfast table laid but covered in crumbs. Three items unavailable for cooked breakfast. Poor customer care. Room didn't live up to expectation.
Location for a venue at Ragley Hall. View from the back of the Hotel. Could be a lovely place with the right people running it.
Cleanliness, smell, bedroom, external entrance to guest bedrooms, kitchen extractor fan attached to our room was very noisy. Full English breakfast had some ingredients missing as chef "not ordered them in" dirty carpets to stairway and bedroom. Dining area in the pub not vacuumed b.efore breakfast, had remnants of the party held the day before. Grease running under the fenced off area to kitchen door, which is adjacent to the external entrance to guest rooms. Water when showering was either non existent or very hot or cold. Umbrellas stacked next to entrance door had fallen over. One had blown during the night into our car but thankfully no damage; because staff had left them lying around. This is probably the worst place I have ever stayed. Had we known that the hotel accepted animals we would never have booked it in the first place.
Handy to Ragley Hall
Extremely hard mattress. Breakfast hour later than stated in book, poor selection. Food all over floor from previous evening. Bedroom not hoovered.
Friendly staff and atmosphere Good size rooms and nice cooked breakfast (Sunday morning) Ample car parking, good location
Squeeky floorboards! Ensuite a little on the small size.
Location. Field ideal when travelling with a dog. No extra charge for dog. Nearness to Stratford without inflated charges. Would recommend with reservations. If you only want somewhere to sleep its fine.
Breakfast poor and not value for money. Not my idea of a continental breakfast! Shower etc needs some updating. Place feels a little neglected and a bit sad.
the bar and resterent area, bedroom, furniture was good and bed comfortable, friendly staff
the food was overpriced for the meal we ate and also left room for imagination i.e the chicken on a bed of scalloped potatoes with peas as the only veg and the starter garlic mushrooms in a blue cheese sauce, could just taste blue cheese and there were only 8 tiny button mushrooms with a piece of lettuce in the centre. Our toilet seat was broken underneath and the shower tiles had mold on also the wash basin was cracked
The food and staff were great.
Having to leave a list of faults that should have been rectified before we arrived.
Loved the rural location
The waitresses were quite friendly as were the majoirity of bar staff
The rooms hadn't been cleaned properly. Old soap in the shower, someones clothes in the drawers. The breakfast (full english) was a winey tasting sausage, rock hard bacon, boiled mushrooms complete with soil, frisby like black pudding but the egg and baked beans were ok. No marmalade or jam for the toast and flies buzzing around the room.
The pub was swarming with flies over head both morning and evening. The breakfast was awful. It tasted dry and bland the black pudding was so dry it crumbled like a biscuit. When checking the draws in our room we found two pairs of knickers and a old phone case. We won't be staying there again!
Location, price, staff, reasonably clean.
Road noise, no air con, dated furniture, old bathroom, choice of food, the night we stayed which was a Friday there were no chicken dishes from the menu, amazing!!!
Nothing, very disappointed.
Everything staff not welcoming, unclean, I could go on.
Good sleep quality, nice room (No 5) with good country views. Staff very pleasant & location was good.
Breakfast not brilliant: There were only two cereal dishes out and we had to ask for them to be washed before use. Plates for toast were not much cleaner! Don't like to see staff sitting smoking directly outside breakfast room while I'm eating. Nice place but looks tired and could do with a lick of paint.
Room was OK
Located on a very busy road Needs a little TLC
Traffic noise Window had to be kept open because it was stuffy Breakfast a bit chaotic had to keep asking for things forgotten ie butter, marmalade, hot water
Breakfast staff were very friendly and accommodating
It was very very hot and stuffy
Easy parking quiet enviroment
No notice outside as to what or how you can annouce your arrival if you come before opening time.
Good value for money, the food in the pub was OK, the beer was very good! We were offered a full English breakfast which we did not expect so were pleasantly surprised! I would use this hotel again.
The bedrooms were very hot and quite small, but for the price were fine. The continental breakfast was toast and cereal which was not very appealing, and there was nothing to put on the toast we had to keep asking for jam, marmalade etc and the waitress was very busy so the wait was a bit off putting.
Ideal Location for Alcester and surrounding area. Near to countryside walks. Bar and food on site. Friendly, attentive front line staff. Excellent parking.
Near a noisy road. No double glazing. Tired and a bit grubby. Opening hours for food limited. Faults throughout different rooms; lighting, switches loose,TV remote missing, weak shower, rooms 2, 3 and 4, cramped en-suites, compressor room noise, no door dampener on main fire-door, avoid room six. Very busy main road 0430 am -1130 pm. Somewhat variable, indifferent management. Room service lacks attention to detail; Toilet dirty, carpets dirty, no soap in en-suite.
