We stayed at this hotel, which was good value for money & near to our venue for the weekend, The Anfield Experience. All the staff we met were very friendly, helpful & jovial (take note you Southerners!) The hotel was very clean & homely. Our room had tea & coffee making facilities, tv/dvd, ironing board, iron. Our room was very spacious & the en-suite was also very clean. Although our room was right on a busy main road, we heard no traffic noise. The hotel has charm & so do the staff. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Not so much a "didn't like" just a "little concern" - there actually is no on-site hotel parking, but we were advised by the staff at the hotel that the garage next door offer overnight parking at a very reasonable rate (cheap, by city-price comparison). Although this too was also right on the main road, our car was secure overnight.

I was a little concerned about the area, but my fears was put to rest on arrival. The welcome & warm greetings set me at ease. The room was comfortable & the breakfast was well presented & plentiful. I will certainly use this hotel on my next visit & recommend to all who travel. The outside area should not deter you, as this place is a diamond in the rough. My thanks to the owners & manager for their help ,they are an asset to the tourist visiting Liverpool. Skip McCormick.

The warm welcome on arrival & the friendly & helpful staff. The location is good in regards to getting into the center of Liverpool. Buss stop nearly outside the hotel door where busses run frequently. Buss takes only 5-10 mins.

Lovely staff, friendly, warm, and welcoming without being obtrusive or over-bearing. Excellent local knowledge and willingness to share this knowledge. Excellent for fans for Everton or Liverpool travelling over for football - walking distance to both grounds. Staff very helpful with maps, directions, and calling taxis. Pub next door to hotel. Full English breakfasts served. Flat screen tv with plenty of radio and tv channels unlike some more expensive accomodation, comfy room with all the amenities, Particular thanks to Kevin and hope to see everyone there soon on my next trip over to Goodison Park.

Kevin the owner was a brilliant tour guide giving us alot of information about the city and ideas for things to do. I had an issue with some noisy dutch guests but the problem was resolved very quickly without upsetting anyone. Breakfast was OK. Hotel was very clean.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and perfect for our family needs. The breakfast gave choice and accommodated large eaters with both continental and full English breakfast availability. I absolutely will recommend this facility to friends and relatives. Although this hotel was within a 15- 20 minute walk from the main downtown area, it was not easy to locate due to our unfamiliarity with the roads. A map/verbal description for directions would have been helpful.

I booked this hotel for my friend. After I had booked the hotel, they charge my money 45 pound from my visa card. So I called my friend do not need to pay.But next morning, when my friend check out, they asked my friend to pay again, and my friend refused, so they take 45 pound from my card again. When I called them, the staff said they only charge once, it should be bank system problem. So I wait until Monday, and call for bank service, they check for me, and can guarantee the hotel charge my money twice. And now the bank help me to refund the money.SO Do not choose this hotel ,they will charge your money TWICE!!!,and I will sent this review to all of my friend.

The shower was hot. It was not like advertised, didn't even look like the pictures on the website, the bistro was no longer serving meals, which is the only reason I had chosen this hotel. I had booked 2 doubles which weren't near each other and the beds were hard as rock.

The staff were very friendly. I noticed that most of the entries in the Guest Book also stated the staff were very friendly. My room was very spacious but the finishes to the bathroom not good at all. The electric toilet kept going off whenever the shower or the water in the wash hand basin was running. No blankets were provided. The bed only provided sheets and a throw. Luckily the room was nice and warm. I was in room 210 on the top floor of the Hotel which is situated at the front of the building. There was no double glazing on the window and the constant traffic on the busy road outside kept us awake for most of the night. My daughter had a very important audition the next day and was exhausted, We were also woken by other guests at 3.30am who came in drunk. Apparently there was a stag party staying at the hotel. We were offered no financial compensation only an apology and discount should we return. £80 was a lot of money to pay considering the location of this hotel. The picture of the hotel online was misleading as in reality the frontage of this hotel is grotty, in a run down part of town. My daughter did not get the audition probably due to her lack of energy.

The best thing about Throstles Nest has got to be the staff, they are genually some of the nicest people I have ever met. They looked after us, made sure we were up in time for our train, fed, and they even booked a taxi for us.

Kevin was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was a nice way to start the day. Recommended, especially if you are in town to see Liverpool FC play at home. The hotel is very conveniently located between the city centre and the stadiums.

Location for football stadiums and city centre, friendly and helpful staff No complaints but I think there should be a bit more choice of cereals and fruit at breakfast, E.G. muesli, grapefrut segments etc.
