Hospitable, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, full English breakfast

The friendliness of the hotel (and Liverpool in general) was very good. The breakfast was excellent.

I understood that all rooms were en-suite. My room (205) had a separate bathroom. I had to lock my door, go down the corridor and unlock the bathroom door to use it. Also I didn't like having to ring the door-bell to enter the hotel every time. I also had to ring for attention to LEAVE the hotel every time.

I´ve used Throstles Nest Hotel since 2006 every time I visit Liverpool (I found the hotel then). I'm visiting Liverpool usually to see Liverpool FC in Anfield and also matches close to Liverpool. The location is perfect between the City Center and Anfield (or Goodison Park also). You can walk to both or take a bus to both directions in front of the hotel. And it's not expensive to take a cab either. I feel myself a visiting relative every time I go there. And my wife feels the same despite she has been there with me only twice. The management and staff are extremely friendly, helpful and nice. Full English breakfast is excellent in Throstles Nest Hotel. Every portion is made individually, so it's fresh and hot and includes just those elements of the menu You wish to have. We both just wait for the next visit to get the breakfast again. Hotel is peaceful. There is free wi-fi. I could not think to use some other hotel in Liverpool than Throstles Nest Hotel if there is vacancy.

Hotel is in a building from year 1881. Single windows are a bit unpleasant for a Finn used to triple windows. Rooms are a bit windy in wintertime and the noise of trucks and buses comes through windows if it is otherwise quiet, but that is not a big problem. Throstles Nest is a low cost hotel and the furniture and beds are not similar than in a 5 star hotel. But good enough. The shower and toilet are modest compared the standards we have used in Finland but they are both better that in many low cost hotels in England. We just have used to bidet in toilet and ability to use manual shower in the shower. So there is nothing wrong in the hotel, just things we miss because we have used to something else than we can get in the Throstles Nest Hotel.

Room was okay, clean, big. Breakfast was good.

The location is outside Liverpool city center, so we took taxi to go to the city. Triple room is £135, so it's quiet expensive for us because it isn't in the city.

shower wasn't clean staff could smile more its easy to get to the city centre by bus but I think the staff lied on the website cause it is said that we need just 5 five minutes to go to the city centre, that is not true, and when they wrote about the price for a taxi to the city centre, they say £3, we payed each time at leat £5. They let people think on the website that the hostel is in the city centre and that's not true.

The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and accomodative. the breakfast is good. I couldn't be more pleased with their attitude and friendly nature. A BIG thumbs up to Kevin and the others!

I thought the ensuite bathroom was a bit small.

It's a clean and comfy place to spend one nite after watching Liverpool vs. Chelsea match. And it not very far from Anfield.

The location is not perfect. Walking to this hotel from Lime Street Station was definately not a easy task.

I was working in liverpool and needed a budget hotel. The location is like the Bronx, talked to a few guys who live in Liverpool and they said they dont go near there. very run down area.would not go back.

I like the staff. they was nice and polite , freindley. You can walk to the city and to Anfield if you want see football. Cheap to take a cab if you not vill walk. the room was clean and ok breakfast.

The bed was hard, no matress pad but i sleep well. The frontside dont look so good but inside it was nice

The staff were very accommodating with a last minute change to our group size. People in the bar were nice the breakfast was good. Good all round accommodation for the price we payed.

One of the rooms we stayed in was very cold. The electric heater we borrowed got broken. The satff gave us additional blankets though and very very friendly.

Web site was very good although it says 20 mins train journey infact should be 20 mins walk

Breakfast was decent

For £70+ pounds it wasn't worth it. Although the rooms were of a decent size, everything was very basic and nothing compared to other places we stayed which were cheaper and much better equipped.
