We’d been looking for a family room near the Kielder Observatory and most pubs needed us to take two rooms or other accommodation needed us to stay two nights. The Boe Rigg had a family room and very reasonably priced. The photos didn’t do the accommodation justice. When we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised to find a lovely large airy room with both kitchen facilities and an tv/seating area. There’s a lovely cozy bar area in the public section, restaurant and outdoor tables overlooking beautiful fields which is home to the campsite. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. There is some renovation work going on it the campsite facilities but it wasn’t a problem.

This is my first time staying in Bellingham for leisure.
This is my first time staying in Bellingham for leisure. I sometimes travel through on my way to work in Kielder and around Northumberland so have never got to experience the town proper. Some great places to eat including the Fountain Cottage and Happy Valley and cute local shops such as Olive and Myrtle and Natural Northumberland. Recently our friends opened their brewery at the old ambulance station, F&L (First & Last) which also has a tap room opened 09.12.2022 - this addition to the town and previous positive visits will ensure my return for both work and leisure

Whilst technically a village, Bellingham punches well above the weight of its size - being the obvious local focus for a wide rural area. It is well provided for in terms of shops (including specialist butcher, bakers etc.) and plenty for tourists. It has multiple pubs, a couple of which (the Cheviot and Riverdale Hall) I can recommend from personal experience. Local beers were on hand pump and of high standard. The walking (particularly the Pennine Way) is of an excellent and picturesque quality.

A lovely town with everything we needed.
A lovely town with everything we needed. Co-op, pharmacy, bakers, tea rooms and pubs. Beautiful walk by the river and an interesting church yard and well/spring.
A trip to the waterfall is worth doing and visiting the information centre too. Nice cakes at the train carriage tea rooms.
Spacious, clean, renovated to a high standard, comfortable bed, great shower, cottage warm with an efficient heating source. Spa bath was great too. Own parking. Quiet and peaceful location with lovely views from property. Friendly welcoming host. Very nice welcome pack of biscuits and wine. Local supermarket 3 minutes drive down the road and the local people are friendly and helpful. The heritage centre in Bellingham is also well worth a visit with knowledgeable volunteers about the history of the area.
Fab property, with lots of nice touches provided by the owner. (Essentials for coffee/tea, biscuits, chocolates, lovely soaps, moisturisers, shampoo, shower gel etc. Great selection of books, DVDs, games). Very comfortable accommodation. Bellingham is a great wee place and well situated for trips to walk on Hadrian’s wall and Kielder (Observatory).
Great location and nice and cosy cottage. Bellingham is a lovely little county town. A very nice touch to see that a bag of logs had been left for the wood burner which did a great job of heating the place. Kitchen facilities were more than adequate. We were all very impressed as to what we got for our budget.
The staff were lovely and attentive, the room was comfortable and clean, great shower. The location is fab, right in the centre of Bellingham, with a few pubs nearby and a little shop across the road. We also ate in the cafe on the Saturday night and the food was really nice for the price. Breakfast was also great.
Pleasantly surprised with inside of guest room. Has everything you would need for overnight stay - tv, tea & coffee and ensuite shower room. Also glad dogs were welcome. Worth reading info supplied on history of Brown Rigg. Enjoyed nearby Bellingham village with various places to eat.
The cottage was lovely and so different. The decor is amazing! There is no other word but quirky. I want to say more but I won't! As you have to see it for yourselves!
It was very comfortable & being a little way out of Bellingham it was quite. The facilities were also great.
Big & comfortable room, nice breakfast, and friendly staff. The restaurant in the evening also served great food. Great value for money.
Bellingham’s a good place to base yourself for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and is a nice village in its own right.
The house is very spacious and very comfortable!! The owners have done a fantastic job of supplying everything you could ever need!. Bellingham itself is a really interesting village and the local people were welcoming and helpful!
Beautiful setting with lovely walks nearby. The whole area is so peaceful, waking up to just the sound of birds and sheep was perfect for us.
Bellingham itself had a shop and a few pubs which is all that we needed
Friendly hosts
