Location and staff were fine once made aware of non-functioning fridge, bathroom taps and radiators. Provided space heater when requested and were generally helpful.
Both rooms (6&11) were dirty with stained couches and carpets. No 6 had a very large lounge with a fireplace but it was closed up and unusable adding to the stark and cheerless space. The bedroom was tiny with a very hard bed. The other room we were offered had a nice location but a flooded and non-functioning fridge, dirty carpets and doors and a general air of neglect. The bed was also extremely hard. The location was great but again the Great Hall had dirty couches with worn and shiny arms. The staff though we're very good and tried their best under the circumstances.
How well equipped the apartment was. The cleaning of the apartment is amazing. You could eat off the floor! A very comfortable place-for me home from home.
Room sizes and facilities in the appartments
Bar closing at 10:30.
everything was perfect apart from towels, meals ,staff were great very plesent
Could, not get fresh towels even though we asked on three occasions, between us we had3 baths,6showers with the same two towels
Was amazed at the value for money.. Would definitely return
Paid for a double room and had 2 single beds pushed together with double bedding on. Would have preferred double bed as heights differed
Classy old hall which has been renovated to a high modern standard whilst maintaining it's original features wherever possible. All staff were friendly, professional and very helpful and were trained to a high standard.
Due to our commitments we couldn't stay longer.
The staff were just brilliant. Really helpful and friendly.
There was nothing I didn't like
Thurnham Hall is situated in very nice quiet surroundings and is ideally located for touring the towns of the North West. The quality of the accommodation is excellent.
There is nothing to dislike.
home from home
restaurant not big enough, had to travel for meals,
The tranquility of the setting, the contrast of the modern with the old. Close to Lancaster for shops and restaurants etc... Apartment was warm and quiet. Definitely a second visit !!!!
I loved the main hall, the bar with a fabulous open fire. The history of the building that was on show on thw walls, a lively mix if modern facilities and cleanliness in a fantastic old building
Room was very warm for me and the shower wasnt fab
Available to book the day before.
Isle of Man a Ferry cancelled so couldn't get there. informed them straight away but they still felt it was appropriate to charge me. No idea if they re-let the room but is I suppose part of the contract. When I booked the Queen Mary in California under the same conditions and was delayed by Hurricane Irene, they didn't!
lovely setting and beautiful apartments
Friendly lovely staff
You don't get wifi and facilities included

Beautiful location, beautiful apartment! Well equipped, comfortable and clean. Ducks to greet you in the morning and a comfortable coffee and tea lounge. Restaurant food was lovely too, but you need to book a table in advance if you can get hold of someone.
Late check in! Early check out! Doesn't give you much time in your apartment if you're only staying one night!
After our bar meal on Sat.,we had to ask for plates etc.to be moved. A shame, after such lovely food. Otherwise, absolutely no other problems.
The location, the standard of the rooms, the size of the rooms and facilities. The staff, the general aesthetic of the whole place - first class.
peace and quiet, great location. clean and friendly.
bar and bar meal prices a little high.
We got such a shock when we got into our apartment as it was so lovely. Everything was done to such a high standard. The old hall is stunning and all the staff we encountered were really friendly.
Didn't like the fact my kids had to sleep downstairs on a sofa bed. The apartment was so big we felt you could have accommodated another bedroom. Didn't like the fact you had to pay for swimming but we stayed for 2 hrs so we got our monies worth. Also having to check out for 10 spoiled our last day abit as you want to chill and get ready leisurely but overall was a lovely stay.
Stained sheets Family room was double and sofabed not really a family room One bath towel for 4 people
The accommodation perfect pure luxury ,sitting in the great hall next to the open fire perfect ,food in the restaurant perfect the staff absolutely amazing nothing was to much trouble for them , the beautiful grounds and surrounding area an absolute dream
Having to come home
Peace and quite. Historic building with nice grounds.
Bar expensive. Wine, beer and 2 soft drinks £14. Cheapest steak and sauce in restuarant £22. Now charging £15 to use pool / gym which is ridiculous. Also getting hassled to take out a time-share. Been going to Thurnham for over 10 years but this will be our last time as the place has become a rip off.
