It was an ideal location for our two day stay visiting Blackpool one day one and Southport on day two. The only concern we had on booking out, we were presented with a bill for£212-40 and not the £106-20 as quoted when we booked on-line with yourselves, and it was only after we showed them a copy of your e-mail confirmation that it was reluctantly accepted.

Location to my business meeting. Comfortable room Dissapointed about lack of Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room. Limited evening meal choice, although standard was good. Breakfast service was too slow and English breakfast was overpriced for what arrived on the plate, didn't eat there on my second day. Didn't like the principle of being charged a £2 surcharge for using my credit card. Who pays in cash? Just put another £1 on the room rate.

Staff were very, very pleasant and more than helpful Although room was booked as an 'executive room' and although very nice, it was no more than one would expect from a standard room. The double bed was not King size. The outside window did not fully close. The heated towel rail did not work. The room maid explained they had 'run out of biscuits' There was no restaraunt facilities for luncheon. It being fully reserved for conference bookings. A bar/pub lunch was not what we wanted. Car park was totally full with day conference visitors. No room for guests. Breakfast nicely cooked but arrived on cold plates. Why? These points did not particularly spoil our stay as it was an overnight stopover and were only pointed out to reception at checkout. It should not be up to the guests to point these things out! As usual, most British Hotels could try harder. Still, musn't grumble eh?

This was my first stay at the Tickled Trout, and coming from Preston I was well aware of its location close to the M6, however we were given a riverside room and only a faint drone of traffic could be heard with the windows open. Very good value for money the rooms were warm and comfortable, and although a little dated now can't really knock it for value for money. Stayed with 2 dogs and found everybody to be very welcoming (£15 surcharge per stay was quite reasonable). As we were visiting family we didn't get chance to eat in the restaurant. Comfy bed and slept fairly well, hardly any noise from other guests. Having stayed at the Ibis in Preston on previous occasions I can definitely say that I will be choosing the Tickled Trout over the Ibis, on future visits. Only a minor point, furniture quite dusty below waist height (table legs and bases etc), also blankets on the bed.

The staff were friendly enough The internet was difficult to sort out, I was given a cable to connect but ended up having to pay anyway. The staff were not always easy to understand.

I think the price of the breakfast is far to expensive. With a small evening meal the total bill came to nearly a £100. £17+ is for 2 pieces of toast, tea, cooked breakfast with 1 egg. The online price is therefore deceptive £49 as to what you end up paying. Vegetarian options not that good.

It was very comfortable, well located and staff were in the main helpful and friendly. We understand that it was between Christmas and New Year but the restaurant menu was very restricted with many items, mainly fish, being unavailable. During the night, about 12:30 am we found water pouring through a light fitting in the bathroom. Despite ringing for assistance and going to the reception desk nobody was available and we had to wait until we checked out in order to report it. The girl on reception was very courteous and apologetic but that was as far as it went

Appalling - was like Fawlty Towers!! First of all, the window blew open twice, so we requested another. There was a massive ugly grey tv. Old, yellow broccoli was served at dinner. The 'Specials' suggested starters were £4, but were £6. The computer was cordoned off with red/ White tape as there was a leak, but we were told we could use it - then lost our money! Not a good place to stay.

The Room I stayed in was scruffy and not the cleanest. For £95 per night room only I expected a lot more from this hotel. I have stayed at other Macdonald hotels and they do not compare. The staff very ok. Friendly enough but painfully slow. Hotel is solely based on being a stones throw from the m6. Could and should do better.

The staff were very helpful and at times went out of there way to help. I did not enjoy the food thought it was sub standard for the price, reheated potatoes, dry fish. I ordered the scottish cheese board very disappointed to find only 2 of the cheeses were scottish felt this was false advertising. The breakfast was not at all appetising

Clean and comfortable room, very nice bathroom. Individual members of staff pleasant and helpful Service in the restaurant was very poor. We waited 50 minutes for our meal and eventually left without having had coffee. Made a cup of instant in our room.
