Score from 120 reviews Superb
The hotel is very well located - right in the centre of torquay within walking distance from the centre.
Doors slamming all night - leading to poor sleep quality. The hotel is very old fashioned and would benefit from a complete refurbishment. Breakfast was really disgusting with poor service.
The Toorak was well with in walking distance from shops and the harbour we parked up and didnt use our car all weekend hotel was friendly and all staff very helpful pool was great will be returning asap
Hotel room spacious. Quite bedroom. Breakfast. Spa
Strange smell in wardrobe. Insufficient car park.
Liked the staff and breakfast was really good and the location was not far from the town and the facilities were good.
I think having a room on the ground floor by reception is not very private, and people were outside our room talking , which could be quite noisy , especially in the mornings .
well situated for the town. good leisure facilities.
smelt musty, being an old hotel it needs updating.
I originally booked as a solo traveller, then two relatives decided to join me. As we had booked separately I emailed the hotel to ask if we could sit together for our meals and received a very pleasant reply to say it had been noted. On checking in we discovered that we had also been given rooms next door to one another which was not expected. The rooms and the restaurant had been refurbished recently. The food is excellent and the location is convenient for both the sea front and the town.
Plenty to do in the area and good evening entertainment for my 4yr old daughter. Good breakfast and evening meal. I will stay there again and next time a little longer too.
The bedrooms were a good size and clean but could do with modernisation. The colour scheme, furniture and carpet are many years old.
Exc location friendly staff and good choice of food at both breakfast and dinner .... good entertainment in lounge bar.Although room and bathroom dated and tired it was clean and was fine for our short stay.
Poor parking facilities and unable to find disabled bay and had 80 yr old parent with Us..... room and bathroom dated and tired although clean and some carpets in public places very stained
An excellent hotel with great facilities and wonderful food
Parking was almost impossible late at night. The noise from a Wedding Parties was far too loud even on the second floor and hotel guests had to park off site as the wedding guests occupied many of the spaces. we do appreciate that these events are very necessary
Notching at all is Poor
The room and the atmosphere
Location was good
We had room 114, a smell of stale water came from the bathroom, I advised the receptionist on check out. We booked in on the Friday but if we had come a day later we wouldn't have got a parking space, I heard a lot of people complain about that. When you have Weddings on, surely people that have paid to stay at the hotel should be given preference to parking spaces, we left our car at the hotel when we went out, in case we couldn't get a space back, when we would have liked to go out in the car...
value for money and location
The room was very noise because of heating system right outside window, had to wear ear plugs in order to sleep. It did stop about 1.30am but came back on early morning about 6.30am. The only other down side was you are given a meal time to stick too for breakfast, ours was 9am which was okay. some where a lot earlier
Stayed for 6 nights , hotel in a great location , close to Torquay bay , a five minute walk , enjoyed our stay , food amazing! Staff wonderful and very friendly, facilities really good , loved the jacuzzi in the Aztec indoor pool , enjoyed the evening entertainment and if it's not to ur taste u can go into Torquay , recommend the Irish pub great singer and atmosphere , with an eighties bar next door , some say the interior of the hotel is outdated , but I feel it suits the style of the exterior of the hotel , overall a great hotel ! A good holiday will stay there again .
Swimming pools food, Cllose to town.
No traffic lights.at the end of the road..
Car parking and access to all attractions.
Staff are A1,parking, pools, FOOD was very good, facilities very good, I'm very happy with our stay would go again but id like the price to come down other than that 9 out of 10 from me
shower was poor Wifi just didn't work and the price for 5 days at nearly £700 i think is a bit much
The staff generally were good with the limited resources they have to work with.
The Hotel generally is very tired and in a poor state. Builders working in the indoor swimming pool making a mess everywhere whilst guests were trying to relax and have fun was ridiculous. Being far too rushed by your staff constantly harassing you to clear you plates etc before you have finished eating, was annoying to say the least. The experience generally was like being on a conveyor belt, one in one out.....never again.
The room was not very clean. Our room was not hoovered through out our 5 night stay. Found used plaster in room under chair.
This hotel is part of the THL group and is joined with 3 or 4 others all in a row. This gave us a wide joice of facilities, if the weather had been bad we would have had plenty to do. Breakfast was a buffet service which we liked as we had exactly what we wanted. From hot full English to continental, it was all there. The ham was lovely, no cheap, plastic "stuff" We only stayed 2 days, but would definitely stay again should we visit Torquay. It was a bit on the expensive side but we got nice bedding, a reasonable sized room & decent quality breakfast. The food in the Bistro was also good, with generous portions.
The bathroom was a little dated & the shower was either too hot or too cold. We could have mentioned this, but decided to just get on with it. The booking in could have been better, the girl was not very smiley, nor did she explain all the hotels were connected via a walk through. If she had we would have checked out the facilities earlier. On the plus side you do get a map of all the joint hotels facilities. The restaurant staff were much happier though. Keep a check on all the drinks you have when dining in the restaurant because as I was booking out the group in front of me were challenging the drinks bill.
all of it.good food, clean friendly, nice live music, near town and sea.
Central location staff were excellent as were the meals. facilities on site very good.
Façade and hotel sign could do with a serious coat of paint. Booked a quiet room ,first room dank and dismal No24 outside the kitchen, got moved to room 101 still overlooked the kitchen, fan came on from kitchen at 5am and did not go off until 10.45pm quiet not ! Bathroom could do with a makeover shabby for a supposed 3 star luxury hotel, odd tiles on walls and grouting of tiles left a lot to be desired
Location was very good,a short walk to the seafront and the train station..A good choice for breakfast and help yourself..Friendly and helpful staff.
Nothing..great choice for a stay in Torquay.
Lovely comfy bed, super location with a relaxing atmosphere within the hotel.
Decor a little tired
the staff service during breakfast....basically very un friendly... If they dont like thejob why be there
Hotel rooms facilities and staff excellent
