Large bedrooms. Excellent breakfast. Great wifi.
Strong chlorine smell from the pool/spa area.
Amazing food Polite staff Beautiful place Comfortable room
The spa treatments were expensive and the quality wasn't consistent. The spa department is small No mobile network and the wifi only worked around the reception area.
The grounds and old part of the hotel were beautiful. Had a excellent meal in the restaurant.
Location, Facilities Food Staff
Nice and cosy roo,s with excellent WiFi coverage. Loved the breakfast and can recommend the meatballs for lunch.
Stunning suroundings Breakfast is complete and generous Lovely hot water for a soak in the bath
Rooms are a bit dated
Fabulous spa and treatments
The bed was very very small for a double bed - it was smaller than a small double which was a real squash.
Very convenient. Lovely hotel in beautiful gardens. Food very good.
Bed too soft
Room was very good all round
relaxed bar/eating area
The facilities (pool and sauna) were good and easy to make use of. My parents were put in a room in the main house which was quite impressive.
Most of the rooms are in an uninspiring annex and the rooms there were simple, basic hotel rooms. So it felt like quite a lot of money for a relatively standard room.
Terrific setting Professional staff Excellent breakfast in magnificent dining room
The rooms, how the place had been restored and the cleanliness of all areas
The history of the building
We were staying bed breakfast and evening meal, but we could not get in the restaurant.... Not impressed at all!
Location, staff attitude, quality of food.
I was not able to dine in the restuarant the night I stayed becuase they were fully booked. Call me old fashioned but when I stay at a premium hotel I expect to able to use thier dining facilities. Very long walk from my room to main area. On the basis of not be able to dine in the restuarant I will be returning
The Grounds are lovely as is the overall appearance on the main building.
After booking a room which we expected to be in the pictured building, we were placed in a room at the very end of a confusing maze of corridors in their modern extension of the building facing a car park. The room itself resembled that of a Holiday Inn. So no reason to have booked this country Manor House. Also neighboring HM Prison is comforting.
The original building. The grounds / arboretum / setting. Pleasant staff, though it took ages to check in.
Bedroom furniture tired, worn & dated. Non-'intimate' restaurant - tables too close together. Limited menu, quite expensive for the product and inedible dark choc mousse, which was neither dark nor tasted of choc! No offer of replacement pudding. Quality of furnishings in main bar a bit dismal, but even worse were the dining chairs - recently replaced, but totally out of character with the beautiful room they occupied. Loo leaking in our en-suite, hopefully from the cistern, but I suspect the bowl! You'll get much better value, if you're looking for the type of stay we were, by going to a smaller, owner-run establishment. We have stayed at infinitely nicer places, DB&B with a pleasant bottle of wine, for much less and enjoyed the general ambience much more. However, I dare say this is a good place for a function - it's a colossal place with 195 bedrooms and the staff do an excellent job coping with the volume. In some respects, well done Tortworth - you're good at that with which you specialize, but it wasn't right for us! And as you probably are raking in the cash (you were certainly brimming on our visit), don't you think it's about time you re-invested some of the profit into a tasteful make-over? I really hope you don't take offence at my comments - we just felt you are 'milking' it a bit!
Excellent food and service with beautiful grounds
Creaking floor boards in rooms above every time someone walked around.
the staff were friendly and helpful
I felt the food was very mediocre and poor for the price
Lovely hotel nice setting Clean room
Food served in Atrium Bar in evening was microwaved! Dont expect this in a 4* hotel. Thought breakfast would be better. Dinning room was dark and dingy and quality of breakfast food was poor. Buffet area messy. Food bland. More choice is 3* hotels than here.
Beautiful building, lovely food at the restaurant and the spa was brilliant.
Everything was fantastic with one exception.
Absolutely stunning hotel in beautiful grounds.Impressive decor throughout. Very comfortable, clean and quiet room.Good pool and spa facilities.Ate in restuarant for evening meal which was in the old library and very atmospheric. Delicious 3 course meal, exceptional desserts all served by friendly efficient staff. Great breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend this hotel.
Wonderful setting with fabulous garden and arboretum. Grand building with large rooms and impressive reception area. Lovely swimming pool.
Style of paintings up main staircase not in keeping with the building. Darkness of dining area.
