The layout and facilities were just what we were looking for. Very near all facilities within walking distance and a minute away from a tube. Good space for clothes storage. Excellent kitchen with every facility and very clean and modern.
The shower was poor and it appeared that it wasn't fitted correctly with the shower hear facing toward the wall instead of outwards. Other than that, this was out only gripe
Lift was broken on the day we arrived - so we had to use the stairs to our 3rd floor appartment with 2 over 70 year olds. The following day once the lift was fixed parents-in-law got stuck in the lift going up to our appartment and were forced to stand as we waiting for a response from the emergency line. We call 999 after half a hour to get them out of the lift that was stuck between floors. Would not recommend booking - their maintainance is low on the guest lift so can only imagine the safety on the rest of the building.
Location, standard, size,
poor internet-speed noise from alley, had Apt 6
We stayed for a week. The location was brilliant, being a few minutes from the tube (Aldgate) and DLR (Tower Gateway), and close to several pubs for dinner. Apartment nicely appointed, with plenty of room, good cupboards, great kitchen etc. Wifi worked perfectly. Despite the few minor issues, we'd stay again.
There was a lot of street noise on a few nights from people at the pub up the street - even at 2am. There was also a lot of street noise around 5am from dumpers being emptied. The bed was ok but not great. Even though it was mild outside, the apartment was always too warm and couldn't be cooled down. Toaster kept shorting the fuse. It would have been nice to have been able to store bags somewhere before check-in.

NOISE - extremely noisy from 3.30am with no consideration for neighbours.
Everything in the apartments were good. They were fully equipped. Apartments were fully equipped with all appliances, which were in good condition. The kitchen was fully loaded. The wash rooms were clean and neat. The dining table and the furniture in the apartments were well maintained and the carpets were clean and neat. The apartments are very thoughtfully designed and maintained to meet every needs when you are travelling.
Location, price and space.
The location wa really good and goodvlue. Lotws of space.
The beds were very uncomfortable. The matress was like a box spring and so bad I had to sleep on top of the comforter and use the towels as a blanket becasue there were no spare blankets. Not enough drinking glasses. Needed to use pot of water to flush toilet water flow limited.
Extremely noisy early hours of the morning with delivery and rubbish trucks starting around 3 am and going through to around 6 am would not stay there again based on this
Loved the set up of the apartment. Everything was where it should be. When I had a few questions I emailed the company and they responded immediately. Small grocery store nearby. Five minute walk from tube station. Overall a great experience and have recommended it to a number of friends / travelers that will be heading to London in the next year.
No air conditioning, though that is pretty normal in Europe. Not the best lounging furniture in the living room but we made it work.
Location, facilities, nearness to transport, more than 1 bedroom
Street noise at night was constant and loud - even with windows closed. Minor issues: no tea in kitchen, clothes rack was missing a leg
I absolutely loved the location! it was very close to Aldgate station, very short walking distance from Tower Hill area. The size of the apartment was amazing! I didn't expect it to be that big and comfortable. We had everything we needed in it. Kitchen was fully furnished. We had plates, pots, even dishwashing tablets! The flat was very clean. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about the flat itself. Minor trouble with the TV, but otherwise this was Hats off one of the best places I ever stayed in. Will definitely come again.
The instructions on how to change the door code was missing. I called the help line number, and the lady said she would e-mail the step by step instructions on how to change the code. I never got the e-mail. That was unprofessional, but I didn't have time for arguments, so I just ignored the situation. I was fine with using the longer one to be honest, because I only had to put it in once a day. But I can see how other people would get annoyed if they had to go into the flat more often. Also, one of the remotes from the TV wasn't working, hence the TV was stuck on only one channel, without us being able to change them. Again, we mostly spent our time out, so we didn't really watch TV, but if someone would've preferred staying in, I can see how that could've been inconvenient.
It is a nice apartment
The street is noisy
Perfectly located adjacent to the DLR as well as the Aldgate and Tower Hill Tubes. Spacious.
Beds and Mattresses need upgrading: adequate but not too comfy.
Easy to get around
Toilets had not been cleaned. Disgusting
Location; close to downtown & tube station (Aldgate). Having a kitchen and laundry was good.
Alley-way entrance; hard to find and possibly insecure (dark alley). taxi had difficulty finding location. Room service didn't replace or add soaps/shampoo during our weeklong stay. "Smoke-detector" was constantly beeping upon arrival. My call to your company didn't result in any repair and therefore I disabled the smoke detector during our stay and re-connected it upon departure.
Staff was very professional and hlepful.
We had some problems with water leaks, bed changes, lack of toilet paper, windows that didn't work, no music facility such as Ipod.
One level flat. Pictures indicate two levels.
Pillows and wifi was not good. No option for additional pillows and having one room with twin beds would have been useful
Pros in my opinion are: - huge size of the apartment and brand new furnitures. - almost no annoying noises in the bedroom - well equipped kitchen - comfortable and good size bed - good position; - wifi
Cons: - no privacy.. on the second day i was awaked by a strong knoking at the main door of the apartment. I got up and I suddenly found two people from the city marque staff ALREADY got in the apartment without any permission (they own the door key-code to enter). They told me they were going to have an inspection of the bedroom!!! I told them we were still sleeping and that I coudnt allow them to get in. That made me really upset, and was simply unacceptable by a medium-high standard of services. On the final day I was again woken up by the cleaning ladies (9.30am) who asked me if I knew that I had to leave the apartment at 11am. I said: Yes, i know it!! As I later did.. so no elasticity of check out time, even of 5 minute. That's not again a good treatment for guests that pay quite a big amount of money for a couple of days. I did expect a more friendly staff and a definitely higher respect of guests' privacy.
location amenities cleanliness comfort
room doors wont stay open had to put a bag in front of it all the time.
Spacious well located
Can be loud at night /early morning due to location and surrounding environment
Location, check-in process, size, value for money.
Lift and living room blinds do not work.
We were very happy with City Marque's service. They kept in touch by email after our arrival. The apartment was located in a wide, well-lit alley next to a larger apartment building. We felt safe at night, but also did not stay out really late and did not have our teenagers walk home alone at night. The Indian restaurant in the next building had good food and friendly service. We found a grocery store, a pharmacy, a Post-Office Plus to mail postcards and print tickets, a friendly historic church, and several eateries nearby. Stores did close on the weekends but it was very easy to travel to busier weekend areas. There was construction across the road; it was noisy only during the day and we viewed it as a minor annoyance. There was sometimes a little noise late at night - slightly rowdy passersby, ambulance, police - but not disruptive. We thought it would be fine for people with young children. Very convenient walk to the tubes and buses. The keyed entry worked flawlessly, there was a convenient, discrete trash area outside the building. The apartment was spacious with 2 floors, clean, a little sparse but attractive. The furniture was comfortable. There was a phone for incoming calls, an intercom, combination washer-dryer, heated towel racks. Kitchen was fine. Wi-Fi worked great throughout. 2 bathrooms - were ok, with glass shower doors. There was a book explaining how to use things in the apartment; phone no. and Wi-Fi password prominently displayed.
We were told the elevator wasn't working and would be fixed but we never figured out how to use it. The hall stairs had a slightly odd smell. The apartment heat and the heated towel racks were nice but a little difficult to regulate - would have to be careful with young children around the towel racks. The TV buzzed, which was distracting - we alerted them so this is hopefully fixed. Downstairs carpeting was ok, a little dated/dingy.
