Philip,
Holywood
Built in 1885, in the Italian style, as a private residence, the main feature of this imposing building is the attractive tower at its northeast corner. It has a wealth of ornamental ceilings, and impressive architectural features. It is not surprising to find this is a classified Grade II-Listed Building. Set in its own pleasant leafy grounds, The Tower Hotel retains an air of bygone elegance. However, in line with its admirable adaptation to its new life as a hotel, it has wide, easy access to the main road at either end of its sweeping drive. Hotel Rooms: 13

We had an excellent stay at The Tower Hotel, the staff were very helpful and always happy which made our stay superb. The only slight problem was it was a bit tight when using the toilet, but everything else overshadowed that and we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotels is beautiful,we would go back again. The food is lovely and very generous portions. The only draw backs for me was the size of the shower cubicle, its the smallest one I have ever seen.Considering the attention to detail in all other areas I thought this let it down and why did they have budget toilet roll.

I used the hotel because of the location and the look ,traveling to many parts of the country as part of my job I tend to pick what I think is a faily nice hotel with good facilitys. This hotel has good looks, Very clean room,Extreamly well priced food and efficiant staff. I work in the offshore windfarm industry and due to sailing times, I tried to leave the hotel around 06.15 one morning,All the doors were locked and I was unable to exit the hotel for around 30 mins, even after ringing the bell and knocking on all the down stairs doors. The telly in the room was so small I needed to sit on the edge of the bed to view it. !!! the size of a small computer. The pillows gave me ear ache due to the hardness. Small things I know, but its the differance between a good stay and an average one.

Warm welcome, helpful staff. There was an old pub-like atmosphere but quality and spacious, pleasant public areas. Very relaxing. We had room 5 on ground floor which had a wheelchair bathroom. Was surprised in morning to realize the bathroom window looked out onto the back lawn. Staff were very considerate and helped when I needed it, even at 5am, providing a convertor plug and fresh milk. Breakfast was generous and we had a good time. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Overall a pleasant stay. Squeaky floorboards reminded me of our earlier travels in outback Aussie pubs but it wasn't really unpleasant. :-) it might just distturb some light sleepers.

Very comfortable stay, hotel was very clean and we had a lovely breakfast.the Staff were very helpful. Security for the reception late at night was poor, we could help ourselves to the keys for our room or any other room if we were inclined. The rooms need to be suplied with box of tissues and more milk.

Fabulous decor, especially the restaurant ceiling. Admired the use of modern facilities whilst retaining the traditional features of the building. Lovely relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the tower hotel, whilst there is not alot to do in dovercourt itself the hotel was lovely. The room was spacious with a beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi bath (pattrick suite) and the meals in the hotel were really nice and excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and the hotel had a nice "family" feel to it. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again :)

it was very relaxing in the hotel, the staff made you feel welcome, the food that we had was very enjoyable and along with the bar drinks were reasonably priced. it being an older building it was full of character, which we like.
