Tower HotelButcher St, BT48 6HL Londonderry (Show map) Very good, Score from 333 reviews“It was the first time I had visited the city and to be able to stay within the ancient walls, being so close to the famous (and infamous) locations was fantastic. The facilities were great too. ”

Fabulous location Cold water in shower, restaurant closed on Thursday night, not all facilities, eg my wife asked for decaf coffee thought she had two heads. Little things that mean a lot were not always there, I would have thought that for a hotel in the middle of the city that nothing would have been a problem.

The staff were friendly and accomodating. The room was clean and cleaned daily during my stay. It definitely does not fulfill the four stars. There was a dank smell throughout the building often frequently overpowered by what appeared to be repeated applications of air freshners. The cost of wifi access was overpriced. The tv was badly positioned and only had five mainstream channels available. Whilst I am now aware that they are trying to get access to more channels this is way behind the times and the standard expected. The food at breakfast was dreadful, the standard was below what I would expect even for the worst greasy spoon, and I like my fry ups! Even the ketchup was clearly the cheapest bulk buy tub possible. I have no problem staying in basic accomodation if it is what "it says on the tin". However the tower hotel does not live up to its marketing. Definitely a disappointment.

It was in the city walls. The heat wouldn't turn on in our room. When we called the front desk to ask how to warm up our room, no one answered. Had to go to the lobby twice to get the issue resolved.

The staff at the Tower Hotel were very pleasant especially the Bar staff and staff serving the breakfast in mornings. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The hotel is very central to shops, sight seeing etc . I shared a room with my mother and the room we had had a single bed and double bed which was great and plenty of room. The bathroom was a big, clean and shower pressure was brilliant and didn't come out in a trickle! We were disappointed when we first seen our room as there were stains on carpet, on pull out sofa, ( thank goodness we hadn't to sleep on that), the cushions on bed stained, the furniture was a bit battered looking despite this the room was clean and bathroom clean. The TV had no Sky news channels or teletext which is a pain if you wanted to check or watch news or check football results instead of having to ask other people as we didn't go out much at night after being out sight seeing during the day we were tired and wanted to relax.

The very friendly welcome at check-in and the friendly, helpful staff in all areas of the hotel made my stay very enjoyable indeed. I assumed, on entering the room, that two bottles of water on a table were a welcoming gesture but was a little disappointed to discover that that was not the case and that the water cost £2.90 per bottle!

The location of this hotel was excellent, and the price would be hard to beat for what you get. Clean and adequate room. We had no hot water as the boiler was not working. This happened around 6pm on our first night there, a critical time for getting ready to go out. I phoned reception they explained the problem and said they would phone back with more information, which didn't happen. When we came back in after dinner and a few drinks around 12.30am, water was working again, so I was happy that it had been fixed, however the next morning as we were getting ready to leave, once again..... no hot water; received by the same response from reception. I asked about the problem on leaving (which would not have been mentioned otherwise) and was only told to get in touch with management after I had checked out. Not acceptable, I would have expected better.

The beds were very comfortable and the the hotel bar was well laid out with a good food menu. The room TV only had basic terrestrial channels and the hotel bar did not have sky TV to watch football.

Reception staff were lovely and as helpful as they could be. As soon as we arrived and were booked in we went up to our room on the third floor which as we opened the door the coldness hit us in the face. The room was freezing. We decided to go take a walk round the shops and mention our issue at reception. The girl said she would switch the heating on for a while. I had to complain about the coldness of our room three times. The radiator was bled which made a slight difference but didnt make the room comfortable. Each time I complained the receptionist said she would put the heat back on. Obviously the staff are under strict instructions to operate the heat only by the timer which in my opinion for the month of January is not enough. Its terrible to have to leave your warm house to have a weekend break away and actually pay to be cold!

I loved the friendly and very very helpful staff. The lobby wasn't all that welcoming and I thought it was expensive compared to other Hotels I have stayed in. To answer the question below I would recommend this Hotel for it's Location but not for value. So it's a Yes And a No
