Great room for our family. Really nice bedroom. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff.
window blind in Lorna Doone room does not come to the bottom of the window! (not that important but one of those little things you notice at £80 per night)
Very clean and tidy, with a good breakfast and easy access to the City centre.
Not in the best part of town, but not an issue! The bathroom could do with a shelf above the sink and in the shower!
My 3rd or 4th stay here. Since my 1st stay i will always use the Town House when I come to Exeter for gigs. Love the building & location. Staff always good & the 2 different rooms I've stayed in have been spot on:)
The only negative is breakfast is only served till 9am during the week. Which is too early when your trying to sleep off a hangover;) 10.30 would be ideal:)
This is a lovely clean place with a lot of attention to detail. The staff were very pleasant, breakfast was good and my room was really nice. I was in the 'Jean Brodie' room and I was impressed that there was a chair and desk, a hairdryer, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and a dressing gown for use if I wanted to visit the bathroom in the night. I was very appreciative of the box of tissues as I had a bad cold! The only warning I would give is not to book this room if you are a tall person. I am 5ft 10in and I must have hit my head on the low ceiling and the light more than twenty times in my two-night stay! If I ever come to Exeter again I shall look out for Town House again.
The only problem I had was with parking. There are few places to park close to the hotel. On my arrival I drove around for 30 minutes before parking half a mile away. The hotel does offer free resident permits but if the spaces are all full then that will not solve the problem.
Friendly staff. Good location. The literary theme for each bedroom was imaginative - we were in Dorian Gray and there was a copy of the Oscar Wilde book in the bedside drawers
Tiny shower room with no shelf for toiletries. No wardrobe in the room, just 4 hangers on a rail.
Very comfortable, nice decor, clean, delicious breakfast!
The in-room binder with local information was terrific!
The character of the lovely old rectory, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room.
Spacious room. Excellent breakfast.
Excellent breakfast Warm friendly welcome Nothing was too much trouble Staff very friendly and helpful
Liked the way that Staff noticed I drank earl grey tea and then put sachets in my room. Good breakfast selection, food freshly cooked to order.
Good friendly service best breakfast we have had in a b&b you name it they had it would recommend to any one
Staff very pleasant and good selecting got breakfast
Room temperature too warm. However, the weather at the time was very mild and close.
The amazing choice of fresh fruits on offer at breakfast. Home made jams. Enormous croissants!! Made to feel very welcome. Would stay here again.
We were on the second floor and found the stairs a challenge with our cases.
Staff very helpful and breakfast was really good
Great location, very friendly welcome. I had booked a small room, but it was very comfortable, and very quiet. Breakfast was great - cooked to order, and delicious. Best thing: a complete lack of portions - so, instead of horrid sachets of coffee and plastic tubs of jam, my room had a cafetiere and a jar of ground coffee; and breakfast saw real jam in real jars... and Marmite :-)
Dog friendly pleasant staff location parking permit
The jam jars at breakfast, would prefer small ones with closed lids.
Everything! Lovely staff, welcome and breakfast was really good.
Very friendly and helpful staff, and an excellent breakfast .
Excellent breakfast and very good location. Everything was convenient.
I stayed here on a visit with my daughter who has just started at Exeter uni and still feeling a bit homesick so the friendly atmosphere and homely feel to the place was just right for us
For an overnight stay, arriving to Exeter by plane and leaving by train, this location worked perfectly for me. The airport bus stops on the corner, about 50 metres away, and the train station is a couple of minutes walk downhill. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and breakfast well worth getting up for. No problems to leave my luggage for a few hours after check-out whilst I popped into the city. The location is more central than it first appears on the map. There's a short-cut through St Davids churchyard which leads to Queen Street and the High Street is a couple of minutes further.
Member of staff immediately offered to carry my case to top floor room. Lovely decor. Liked the way real wood had been used to make desk area. Bath robe provided; alas too small for my portly figure. Breakfast selection wonderful with fresh fruit and homemade preserves.Quality ingredients for cooked breakfast. On street parking available outside/nearby - a boon in Exeter.
For heavens sake sort out access! Having rung the door bell a number of times and used the heavy door knocker too - loud enough to alert the whole street, I eventually spotted someone in the front ground floor room. Having waved and called out the person eventually let me in. It turned out he was a fellow guest who felt uncomfortable about letting me in and had also had exactly the same problem a short while earlier. The member of staff apologised but seemed surprised by the fact she had not heard me. As this was not the first time this had happened that day the hotel need to address the issue. Can I suggest an extension bell to the back/staff area of the hotel? Not only did I feel frustrated but also rather unwelcome.
