The guy at reception didnt have a clue what was going on, the owner was of no help what so ever Actually offered his daughters room to one of the people travelling with us when they realised they had not got enough of the rooms we had requested available. We were not given a key to our room and had to rely on someone being awake or just generally around when we got in, by the looks of it if we had got in later than we did 2300 we would not have got in as the guy who was previously on the reception desk appeared stoned dropped a new joint on the ground in front of us and 20 minutes later was wandering around with bloodshot eyes. Tiles were coming of the wall (some already lying on the floor) in some of the bathrooms and the hot water went from cold to boiling hot to not working at all in the space of about a minute in the shower/bath my girlfriend was using. Communal showers and toilets was not what i expected either after paying for an apparent Deluxe room there was nothing Deluxe about it. furniture all very Ikea and looking like was held together entirely by glue. a free Breakfast was a poor attempt to appease us it was kind of a help your self thing with no table to sit at other than the little coffee table in front of the sofa in the lounge area. The view from the window out across the street was of a boarded up and over grown disused resource center. A quick street view search has shown me that the place has changed names at least 3 times which explained why a taxi driver got confused trying to get there. Past names have been"Travellers Retreat" "CitiMansions"

The actual room was fairly nice with modern furniture. On arrival at 4.30pm my room wasnt ready. When I finally got to the room there was a terrible smell. I was offered 2 alternative rooms-1 had no key and the other was alot smaller with a single bed. Decided to stay put in the smelly room! Website pictures and room descriptions imply double rooms will have their own bathroom-this is not the case. No rooms have a bathroom-its shared with everyone on your floor.

Free breakfast. Tea, coffee & bread laid on free during day. Staff wonderful & accommodating. Excellent location for city centre. Showers. No changing facilities so you you have to shower in the wee small hours or parade about the karzi in the nuddie trying to change or dry your bits. I'm damned if I'm having well fit blokes laughing at my 2 petit pois and baby carrot.

Shared facilities. Problems with lights in one of the bathrooms. They do not have proper facilities for breakfast. Breakfast seemed to be improvised and outrageously expensive for what it was.

“Location is excellent, right in the centre of town and only a few minutes walk from the Arndale Centre and the bars of Canal St. Good breakfast, a wide selection of hot and cold food, and the bar staff are friendly, though the drinks prices are high.” James, Solihull |
