“Friendly relaxed atmosphere, beautiful old house and gardens, wonderful breakfast. We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back soon.”
Deborah,

In peaceful grounds and countryside, Tredethy House is a relaxed, elegant English country house built in the Tudor period. It offers spacious bedrooms, many with grounds and woodland views. At weekends, the Tratorria serves simple, delicious Italian food using seasonal and organic ingredients. An organic continental buffet is served for breakfast and includes Italian ham, fresh, local bread, warm croissants, cereal, jam, fresh fruit salad and yogurt. The country house is in an area of outstanding beauty and a 15-mile drive from the Eden Project. Lanhydrock House and Gardens are about 5 miles away. Tredethy House was the home of Prince Chula of Thailand until the late 60s. Today, the 7 acres of grounds at Tredethy Country House host beautiful, colorful plants, trees and flowers all through spring, summer and fall. Its location with stunning views. The building itself was very handsome. The room was very comfortable traditionally furnished making it feel homely. The owner is a great character.

We had a principal room which was huge, luxurious and the bed was so comfy. The bathroom was large with plenty of hot water, bathrobes and fluffy towels. The owner Marco was very willing to chat and offer assistance. Breakfast is continental and includes two muesli's, fresh fruit salad and natural yogurt, artisan breads, wafer thin ham and pecorino cheese as well as croissants and pain au chocolat. A cooked breakfast is available for £5.90 extra - I had bacon, mushrooms and scrambled egg -perfect, my partner had the full English which he enjoyed. Marco specialises in organic produce and I had my first organic rum which was lovely. Marco recommends local restaurants when there is no evening meal. We had lovely cheese and meat platters on the saturday night at the hotel.

Very friendly and helpful staff Stayed in the family room - though not appropriate for 3 adults - found it cosy and the privacy was good. Free continental breakfast could have more varieties

Marco the owner is a very nice person and also very professional. The place is very nice and relaxing. The villa is really beautiful and is also surrounded by a very "English" park in an amazing countryside. We have definitely put a bookmark on this place for our next visits to the Cornwall.

Marco was an extremely affable "Mein Host", who has brought his ideas of how to upgrade Tredthey House. Together with Christina, he has made it a very attractive place to spend a short, comfortable and peaceful break. A few more facilities and regular meals would make this the perfect location for a short break. I am convinced Marco will continue to upgrade (from an already very good standard)

It is a comfortable and traditional residence in an exceptionally quite location. Centrally located for North and South coast visits. Rooms are generous in size and with comfortble furnishings. Host and staff were very welcoming and the breakfasts divine with quality ingredients. Totally enjoyed our stay. We had a wonderful evening meal on Saturday but wold have prefered it if evenings meals were to be offered more often, albeit there were fine dining available in local vilages.

The setting was beautiful, stunning grounds and a wonderful house, tastefully decorated. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean with furniture in keeping with the house. The breakfast was unusual, home-made muesli, fruit salad beautifully fresh and croissants, bread and a selection of cold meats. The whole place was very quiet even though there were other guests. We stayed the second week in September and temperatures had dropped a bit at night. The room was rather chill in the night. There was no shower, just a spray over a very large bath. There were no evening meals offered during the week so we had to drive round looking for a pub or restaurant and the choice was disappointing. A cooked breakfast at the hotel cost extra which we had not been aware of when we booked.

A lovely country house in a quiet location with lovely garden area. Marco and his staff are very friendly and efficient. Very clean comfortable rooms. A good base for touring. We travelled with relatives and booked 2 rooms for 4 nights, a very enjoyable stay.

This was the best accomodation in our 14-days trip through Devon/Cornwall. Unfortunately we stayed there only one night. A house like in a "Rosamunde Pilcher" Film, very quiet located, but easy to reach, beautiful rooms, wonderful breakfast room (and also excellent breakfast). But that's not enough - we had luck and the Chef cooked dinner this evening (normally only at weekends). Special italian food, home-made pasta, all with assorted ingrediences, good wine and espresso. I would recommend this house to everybody who loves quality!

Beautiful hotel and gardens. Very accommodating towards our dog. Owners were charming and attentive. Excellent quality breakfast and friendly staff. A delightful country hotel with historical interest offering pure relaxation and comfort. We were a bit disappointed in vegetarian dinner in restaurant [ not advertised as such] as limited for meat eaters. However, breakfast and overall enjoyment made up for dinner which was nonetheless very good quality.

The hotel was very cold. Although we stayed in June, the weather was only 5'c at night and 12'c in the day. When we asked them to put the the heating on they said "It's summer - we don't put the heating on in the summer". I paid £382 for one room for 3 nights so I expected a better level of service than that.

A great location to explore the area, this hotel gave us all we wanted. The staff, including the owners, were very hands on, with personable service to any requests. The food was of high standard, with an extra special evening laid on during the Saturday evening to which many non residents attended. We will certainly be going again.

“The hotel was close to the Eden Project (about 20mins drive) and the Camel Valley vineyard. Lovely room and helpful staff. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and evening meal had a good choice, was well cooked and nicely priced. The village had a few shops.” Kathy, Eastleigh |
