Staff were very friendly. We booked this hotel at the last minute and foolishly didn't check the reviews first. It was in desperate need of refurbishment. I appreciate it was only 2 star but that should mean simple and basic and not dated tatty old furniture and decoration throughout the whole hotel. The bathroom was old with mouldy casings/seals to the shower cubicle, the shower has a very poor water flow and I wouldn't want to guess how old the electric shower and hair dryer were, as the plastic they were made of were very discoloured. They did appear to have decorated the dining room slightly more recently, however, for some reason we had to eat our breakfast at a table in the bar. We couldn't recommend breakfast either it consisted of eggs, beans, tomato and for some reason 'smoked' back bacon and pork and 'leek' sausages. Not something I would think is to the taste of many guests. It was on the cold side and was the worst breakfast we have ever had. The hotel is in a lovely location but it feels that the proprietors are trying to make as much money out of the business without any outlay to make its accommodation more pleasant for its guests. We were going to have a evening meal at the hotel but on arrival we decided we'd rather eat in Oxford and were relieved we were only staying 1 night. We would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

Although small the bed was comfortable The shower was poor, there was very little water and no pressure in the water. The room was above the dining room which was very noisy whilst people were dining and whilst the staff cleared up at the end of the night. The bed sheets were not particularly clean.

Restaurant was fantastic and staff were extremely helpful. Great atmosphere! Heating wasn't on during the day in the room. We could request it to be on however we didn't want a fuss.

The room and bathroom were huge compared to others on our trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bar downstairs was a nice place to start the evening off.

Good Parking, room sufficiently spacious and comfortable as a solo. Clean and thoughful standard provision in an old-fashioned environment. Asian management are efficient.Best of all is the restaurant. Excellent curry menu, not extensive but varied, fully freshly made and delicious. A good enough reason to return.

The location in Iffley village is excellent, as is the retaurant food in the pub. The room was cramped, basic and worn out. The bathroom large in contrast to the room, old and worn out and not very clean. The breakfast was basic and the food could have been better.

Poor bathroom facilities. The Shower was very weak and not very warm. The toilet did not flush properly. Hotel staff would have been good, except that it was impossible to reach them by phone, certainly after 10 pm

Not a lot. The breakfasts were ample and the serving staff friendly and efficient. Sparsest room we've had in Europe in some time. No decor. No soap in the bathroom, etc. We ended up here due to a mistake in booking another hotel in Oxford city center. The signs for the hotel were non existent if travelling from the city, public transport into the city was difficult, taxis were expensive and it cost a fortune to park in Oxford for the day. Again - drabbest most Spartan room I've seen in years.

We loved where the hotel was situated!, The food was excellent, the staff were the most polite staff we have come across on our travels!!, We have travelled a lot abroad and the uk. We did read a lot of negative write ups about Hotel!!, They must have stayed in a different Hotel than we did!!! We would go back if we lived nearer just for the food!!!....

Not very much unfortunately - Room was big though 1. Completely overpriced for what it was - it was more a pub, tired and drafty rooms. 2. When I arrived, the barman checked me in at the bar! People sitting around drinking and watching made me feel uncomfortable (I was a female travelling on business on my own!) The waitress took my payment for the room (in the bar where breakfast served) .. very odd! 3. Breakfast very limited, 2 reasons: only served between 07.30-08.30 and slow service - meant I was late for an 08.15 meeting despite being there at 7.30 (start of the serving!) - no fresh fruit on display despite showing on menu - "when I asked where it was, I was told they'd get me an apple if I want" - Just 4 cereal choices - cornflakes and the other 3 kid type e.g. Coco pops! - Just apple or orange juice 4. In my room, heating was not switched on and no hot water when I had to get up (5.30am) so unable to shower until 7.00am and very cold trying to work from my laptop until water and heating made things warm enough.

Beautiful location, slightly ramshackle air We could hear music under our room from 7 onwards each night. I went downstairs on the Friday and found this was being played in an empty room on the far side of the hotel from the bar. The management turned it off when I complained, but I shouldn't have had to do so; this was repeated the following night. This may have been only a problem in Room 6, our room, but at the rate we paid it's basically unacceptable. We ate there the first night: tasty but the portions were too small. Breakfasts: ok but eggs on toast came with the bread barely toasted and unbuttered.

Location convenient, parking easy, dinner good. Rooms were shabby and not very clean, or warm. I had to ask for my first room to be changed, as I could not turn on the taps in the sink. The hotel charged an additional fee for payment by credit card, which I was not expecting.

Very little. If I'd wanted a cheap room above a noisy pub, I'd have found somewhere for a lot less money Bedrooms were cold and bare. Breakfast in the bar was not ideal Very much overpriced and not great value for money. Will not be staying there again
