The smell of the place is very 'greasy spoon' as soon as you walk in. Smells of fried food all day/night - needs a really good airing.
The vouchers we found in reception area are out of date (December 2014).
The mattresses in room 4 were uncomfy & could feel the springs. I actually turned the mattress round (the one closest to the wall) because it squeaked so much on the top end just sitting on it (I'm only 8 stone). They need replacing.
Breakfast, while service was quick, wasn't great. Tinned tomatoes, only one slice of white bread per person for toast, bacon seemed to be cooked the day before and reheated. Just wasn't yummy.
Although clean, there wasn't a nice fresh smell to anything (may cover some of the food smell to have nice smelling/fresh linen).
Limited toiletries (only found soap).
And small personal point - didn't like the Tupperware the teabags/coffee were kept in, would rather they were left out than kept in cheap plastic tubs which have been fingered by many previous people.
Short walk to town & North Station. Wifi was probably the most stable connection we've had in a hotel. Generally the room was clean, though tired/worn (which was expected, so not a big deal). I liked the touch lamp. The hosts are chatty.
