Location, the view, food, the room we had for a late booking, staff
2 single mattresses on a double bed, Even though the room was lovely we had plaster flaking off the wall in the en suite.
Excellent view, impressive grounds and gardens, leisure facilities. Nice place to spend some time at, if tired of crowds in the town
Old doors, could hear everything happening in the corridor. No proper place to chain bikes. Breakfast was very average, coffee was awful.
Old decor needs updating. Beds very old & uncomfortable!
location, room, staff, breakfast
the steep hill home
Views Comfort Grounds Room
Walk back uphill from town Weather Limited choice of food in evening Large numbers at breakfast
Wandering around the lanes of St Ives
The location and the facilities exceeded expectations. The gardens were a delight to wander in the evenings with stunning views of St Ives.Rooms were spacious with generous amounts of tea/ coffee. Complimentary toiletries whereof good quality
The room had a musty smell possibly due to its close location to the leisure facilities. The room was very warm but there were warnings not to leave windows open due to problems with seagulls and magpies. There was mould on some of the bathroom grouting and rusty stains around the bath tap.
Beautiful location, breathtaking views, friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere...we will be returning!
Relaxing short stay very polite friendly staff, decor a little dated/tired but very nice hotel
Nothing enjoyed all
The location and the grounds around it were great.
Inside everything was old with no particular charm. The smell of old was everywhere. They could invest in some deep cleaning and a refurbishment. It would help a lot.
fantastic location, peaceful and relaxing, beautiful grounds
Gardens and woodland walk
Helpful and approachable staff Excellent breakfasts Well maintained grounds and gardens
Rooms a bit tired Seagull noise can disturb sleep in early hours Dinner menu choice a bit limited
The beauty of the castle and gardens, some professional friendly staff. Food /breakfast fabulous.
Some grumpy staff (one in health centre) although few, wish could have been none!
Lovely spacious sea view room, pleasant surroundings although very steep climb back up from town and beach.
Waiting over an hour to check in as room not ready, then after unpacking told we were in wrong room had to move. Staff we're not very friendly especially in breakfast room although Katie in the brasserie was. Did'nt think much to the food at breakfast or the repetitive specials menu on the evening. It's way over priced for what you get.
The staff were very helpful and eager to help. The breakfast was excellent and although it was a busy time the staff went out of their way to get you what you needed if it wasn't out. The location and surrounding garden was immaculate, unfortunately we were only there for one night so we couldn't enjoy the other facilities which looked great, especially the golf course.
A toilet brush in the toilet would be useful- sounds trivial, but when your out to impress a lady- its essential.
Hotel grounds Great food
Expensive Slow service Room didn't get cleaned
Great hotel have stayed there many times each time just as great as the last!!!
Wodden flooring in reception area out of context as hotel has great character wood floors just lose it a bit?
Staff friendly and helpful View to St Ives Location
Breakfast ok not as good as room and facilities
The room size Great view Nice food The 72 acres to walk around The facilities are brilliant Lots of activities to do Close to the beach/town Plenty of parking
The steep hills to walk to and from the beach/town Not ideal for the elderly
Hotel dated but this added to the overall charm - very 1930's. Reception and housekeeping staff excellent. Fabulous location.
The restaurants/bar were inadequately staffed resulting in very poor service. Watched as our deserts went back to the kitchen 3 times before they noticed we hadn't been served. They even gave our custard to another customer and replaced with ice cream! No staff in the bar - used plates etc. on tables. Food on floors.
Room very comfy
Noise levels in bars and communal areas Lack of staff at reception
Location very close to St Ives and of course the sea. Sea View. Good food. Very helpful hotel staff. Beautiful hotel grounds.
Loud music (part of a wedding reception) one of the nights which carried on until midnight.
