The Unicorn is a small hotel featuring a bar and a bistro which transforms into a restaurant in the evening. In the town of Llanidloes, it offers homemade food and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 58 reviews Superb

Centrally located hotel. Rooms very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Shower very easy to operate-not always the case. Room cleaned to very high standard. Breakfast offered very good choice and very efficient service with attentive staff who were friendly but professional.
There was nothing about this hotel that we didn't like and it is important to sat that we travel extensively throughout the U.K.
Central location, very clean, excellent beds
Lacking character, uninspired breakfast, little celebration of outstanding local scenery.
friendly staff, very comfortable room, easy to come and go, good breakfast. all very secure
initial confusion about access to ther hotel- I needed to know more clearly to go to the Unicorn.
nice clean friendly hotel
walls a bit thin.
Lovely large room, clean and airy. Trewythen is very central in Llandeilo, an excellent centre for exploring the upper Severn Valley (we were walking the first sections of the Severn Way).
Be aware that as this is really the annexe of the nearby Unicorn Hotel, where bar and restaurant are located, the hotel is only staffed at breakfast and room clearing time. Breakfast is okay but uninspired -- Alpen and Corn Flakes, no fresh fruit, very mediocre coffee (investing in decent coffee and a few small cafetieres would improve things immensely in that department). Still probably the best choice of the limited number of accommodation options available in Llandeilo.
Excellent room, clean and comfortable. Free wifi.
Breakfast portion was a little bit mean. Price was increased when we arrived, apparently there was a problem with the online booking price and that we should have paid £95 not the online price of £75.
We loved it all; Like no other
Convenient to the Minerva Gallery where I was attending a 3 day workshop. Breakfast and use of car park was important for me. Spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast.
Only small negatives - I could hear people in the bathroom next door and landing light - rather too bright.
nice, cosy and friendly.
Location Friendly staff
Not truly a hotel, no reception, no bar, no lounge, arrive and have to phone mobile number, owner arrives and gives you front door and room key any problems ring mobile. Check out 10.30 No issues just not what I call a hotel. Same at breakfast, good food but no menu you are expected to pick items from a generic "Full English", also last orders 8.45 so no relaxed weekend mornings
Rooms were bright and clean, staff very pleasant, breakfast very good, location very good. Overall ok for a short stay
Room was overlooked by private apartments, so needed to keep pulling curtains. Tea tray and kettle inconveniently placed by telly and extension socket, this needs re locating, socket and kettle base kept dropping behind the chest of drawers. Shower door difficult to open and close
Location was great, just off the main road. Easy walking to amenities. Hotel car park adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast was enjoyable. Breakfast room comfortable. Staff were pleasant. Room nice and clean including the bathroom
Hotel locked up on arrival & had to phone to get someone to come from the sister hotel to let us in (after the 4pm book in time). TV didn't have the advertised DVD player. Sky signal breaking up bedtime and early morning.
T HE ROOM WAS VERY SPACIOUS AND THE BATHROOM/SHOWER,WAS VERY LARGE CUBICULE.VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE.
I found the hotel ideally sited in the heart of the town. It was quiet which I appreciated. Good value for money too. Overall I was very pleased and would use it again.
Just a few small observations. I flagged up the awkward bathroom facility namely a hand held shower affixed to the bath with no shower curtail. At breakfast I would have preferred a pot of coffee rather than asking for a refill. Not having used the hotel before I didn't realise that there was no one on site. I telephoned the hotel to gain access. The proprietor came over from a hotel in another street. Otherwise I have no major criticisms
A big room, very light & airy with 2 windows and modern furniture. It's very quiet.
For the price we expected a higher quality breakfast - no natural yoghurt or nice selection of cut up fruit. Only choice was over ripe bananas or whole apples! Disappointed the wall had paint off where a picture once hung above the bed which spoiled an otherwise perfect room.
Nice large rooms. Clean. Excellent sized shower with lots of hot water. Good filling cooked breakfast.
Could have done with a socket for the hairdrier next to a mirror, preferably by a dressing type table. Only 2 traditional tea bags, could have done with more as not everyone likes Earl Grey tea. Little more flexibility with breakfast times at the weekend would be good. Not everyone wants to get up too early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Could have done with a mirror directly in front of the sink in the bathroom.
Lovely, helpful owners, without being too intrusive.
good staff very pleasant will go again A.J.G
The room was spacious and very well appointed. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Thisis the second year we have stayed there
Lovely old building friendly staff
We found the hotel very relaxing ,parking was easy .Found every one very friendly. we got very wet from the rain ,the owner took my coat and dried it for me. We ate at the Unicorn their other hotel the food was excellent we highly recommend both places.
A long length mirror would have been useful.
More or less everything
Slightly confusing check in procedure
The hotel is family run to a very high standard. The owner is very friendly and cooks an excellent breakfast. The rooms are nicely decorated and very good value.
Great showers, and comfortable, clean rooms.
