Size of the room. Great breakfast. Quiet location. Great price.
The put-up bed for my son was very uncomfortable (it was dome shaped & too narrow for comfort) so we had to put the mattress on the floor. The other beds were good though.
Breakfast was fabulous. This was the first time we had stayed here but have been here for drinks and a meal when previously in the area.
The food was possibly the best meal we've enjoyed in the lake district.
Cramped room...chipped cups...and the slowest kettle in ten counties were the only aspects that we though needed a rethink.
Bed was comfortable, room clean facilities were nice. Staff were very helpful. Food was nice.
No Internet connection in my room. Room could have been a little warmer.
Value for money Staff Wonderful food Location
Perfect location for walks around Ullswater and Keswick. Room was excellent as was the meals.
Staff were lovely and helpful. The cooked breakfast was brilliant.
More choices of fresh fruit.
helpful staff, clean room, food to die for. A wonderful visit will be going back again have already recommended to friends, family and work mates.
Friendly staff and location
Bed was so hard I hardly slept. I arrived at 8.30 after a 5 hour drive and could not get any food. At 10.00 pm the front door was locked like Fort Knox.
Food at breakfast and dinner.
The shower lacked force and the flow ebbed and flowed when water was used elsewhere
Although close to the A66 there was no road noise and you are well placed to explore the North Lakes area. The staff were friendly and the food excellent. The only slight criticism would be that we would have liked a little more time between courses. However, this is a very minor point and both the breakfasts and evening meals over three nights were great. I would definitely recommend the Troutbeck.
Location and good food
Everything. Rowan the owner goes out of her way to make you comfortable.
Bit far away from other lakes and towns. But didn't mind travelling.
Wonderful atmosphere, and some of the best food ever. The log fire is magic!
The hotel was excellent, food very good, but beware that this is not Troutbeck near Windermere, it is near Penrith in the North. Once found, well worth it.
Not far from motorway Rural Food Service
Nice place, good food, clean and tidy room and a good selection of beer and spirits
It was my second visit. I like the location as it is close to Ullswater , where I enjoy walking. It was nice to have supper and rest after a long walk. Although the rooms are above a pub/restaurant, it was not noisy.
We mistakenly booked a single room allthough being with two. The problem was courteously solved and a 'cosy' room was ours for two nights. We would come again for the sole reason that dinner at the restaurant of Troutbeck Inn was more than excellent! We're anglophyles AND foodlovers - but for a long time had to admit to friends that you wouldn't come to Jamie's UK for the cuisine. The restaurant of Troutbeck Inn changed that. SUPER adress - would love to come again (and book the correct room of course). Compliments to the cook and staff! Fam Ardies Lernout Deurne (Antwerp)
The atmosphere was great ! The food was excellent all home cooked and to a very high standard.
The shower was a little on the weak side which is nit picking
The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and at a very reasonable price, the breakfasts were superb. We were in a really good QUIET place to use aa a centre and we WILL go back again.
The steep stairs to the bedrooms.
You know that feeling when you walk in the door and you know you are going to feel at home? That. Downstairs, a small, bar area linking through to a cosy restaurant with absolutely excellent food. My room was ideal for a lone traveller and surprisingly quiet for its location close to the main A66 which gives it great transport connections. Great for exploring the northeast Lake District which is a more-tranquil, less-trodden place than the main centre closer to Keswick.
