It was my second visit. I like the location as it is close to Ullswater , where I enjoy walking. It was nice to have supper and rest after a long walk. Although the rooms are above a pub/restaurant, it was not noisy.

The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and at a very reasonable price, the breakfasts were superb. We were in a really good QUIET place to use aa a centre and we WILL go back again.

The steep stairs to the bedrooms.

You know that feeling when you walk in the door and you know you are going to feel at home? That. Downstairs, a small, bar area linking through to a cosy restaurant with absolutely excellent food. My room was ideal for a lone traveller and surprisingly quiet for its location close to the main A66 which gives it great transport connections. Great for exploring the northeast Lake District which is a more-tranquil, less-trodden place than the main centre closer to Keswick.

Had a lovely dinner the night we arrived. Also enjoyed our breakfast the next morning before we set off for Edinburgh. The inn is full of character and is conveniently located with views of the fells.

Our double room was fine but we are used to a king size bed and would have preferred this and probably slept a bit better.

On our way back to Scotland from the South we broke our drive here and enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable room, very good food in the restaurant.

    Room perhaps a little small.

Service was excellent, food was very good and the location just a few miles from Ullswater was also pleasant.

Rooms slightly cramped. OK for one night, but wouldn't like to stay for too long.

Lovely food, pleasant room and surroundings, friendly staff. Reasonably priced room. Quick and thoughful response to my email enquiries. Facililities for cyclists.

Quite isolated so we had to have our evening meal there, it was completely lovely but cost more for food/drinks than the other places on the c2c route.

The hospitality - nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly and helpful. Although we didn't eat here ( as we were at a wedding reception just up the road) the food looked and smelt delicious.

Perfect location for getting out and about and so very convenient closely located to the M6 and just of the A66. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and plenty of choice Really good that there was a facility to enable us to come in late as we were at a wedding nearby and we were not under any pressure to get back by a set time.

Shower was not great but the room was very comfortable. It would have been helpful to have wifi in the room and not just in the public areas

Our fourth stay at the Troutbeck Inn and we enjoyed the same good quality comfort and food as on our previous visits. Dinner offers a good choice of dishes and the wine is well priced. Breakfast also provides a good choice. The public areas are well decorated and in keeping with the age of the Inn. Bedroom 5 is roomy and well equipped. We found all the staff to be welcoming and helpful. The service was professional. We would fully recommend the Troutbeck Inn.

It is in an easy to find location just off M6 and had a country pub feel. The room was clean and bed comfortable and acess to the Northern part of the Lakes district around Keswick is good. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast great.

There are 2 Troutbecks in the Lakes area, this is NOT the troutbeck near Ambleside or Windermere (probably our fault for not looking closely at map when booking) The Wifi did not work in our room so needed to go into public areas to use plus it was switched off at night . The staff on reception where overseas students and unable to assist with questions about road conditions and how to get to various places

Excellent food, attentive staff. Good parking. Easy to get to from M6. Ideal for North/South break.

Rooms tired. Showers basic, eg nowhere to put shower gel, shampoo etc while showering except on floor. No full length mirrors.

Location Food - very good Selection of drinks Comfortable, clean room Value for money

Smallish room, small wardrobe. We stayed for a few days and lived out of suitcases which we had to leave on the floor. Creaky floorboards. Meals were hurried, little time to finish one course before the next one arrived. Time is needed to savour good food.
